Once the official staging post for the Manchester Flier, The Cock Hotel is a historic 15th-century coaching inn located in the scenic market town of Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire. This town is situated just 10 minutes from Milton Keynes and within easy reach of the M1 and the A5. The staff understands that every wedding is unique and strives to create an amazing day that you and your guests will never forget. For a romantic aesthetic and timeless elegance, couples can consider the luxury of The Cock Hotel.

Facilities and Capacity

The hotel has a civil ceremony license for two function rooms, The Marquee Suite and The Oak Room. The Marquee Suite was historically a Coach House and has since been tastefully renovated giving it a unique and warm ambience. The room opens up onto an open-air courtyard and has easy ground floor accessibility. Upon entering the area, couples will discover a private bar, a dance floor, and a PA system. The Marquee Suite can cater for up to 80 guests for a formal buffet, 100 guests for a seated 3-course meal and up to 150 guests for an informal evening reception. Suited to smaller groups, The Oak Room is located at the top of a small flight of stairs on the first floor with easy access to the public bar. This area can accommodate up to 50 guests for a civil ceremony and 35 guests for a formal meal or buffet. Wedding guests can also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the recently refurbished public bar and an excellent choice of dishes from the extensive bar menu. There are 30 en-suite bedrooms and reduced rates are offered to guests attending a wedding at the hotel.

Fantastic location, day and staff

From attending the wedding fair to our amazing day we can't say how great everything was.
Very easy to book and Sara supported us with meetings and calls along the way helping with planning and special menus without fault.
The venue looked amazing and all the staff did a great job running around behind the scenes to ensure everything went without a hitch.
The food was good especially the roasted pototoes with pulled pork rolls at night everyone said they were the best!
The whole day was amazing and we highly recommend The Cock Hotel thank you so much.

Best Wedding ever

WEE HAD OUR WEDDING DELAYED FROM 2020, unlike some parties, but the hotel kept with us, with no changes to prices or experience .

We had the best experience at a wedding with many guests saying it was the the best party/wedding that they had ever been too. We loved the day and it will be with us forever, everything went to plan thanks to Sarah and Darren and the team at the Cock hotel

Our Wedding

We used the Cock Hotel for our wedding venue from vows to wedding reception and we loved every second of it. The day is held in their dedicated reception room with the end wall being exposed stone and roof beams, there is also a dedicated bar so there is no need for the guests to leave the reception room. Darren and Sara helped up plan the big day from beginning to end and have a few different menu and drinks packages, they also had a trusted list events teams who were also very professional and accommodating with budgets to suit all. We would highly recommend that you use Darren as the Master of the Ceremony as he knows how ton run a tight schedule as timing is very important when you have a fairly large guest list. We would also recommend having pictures taken in front of the old barn too as this looks lovely in photos. All the waiting staff and the rest of the team in the background were also fantastic. All in all, we had a fantastic day and our guests also fed back that they had a great day too. We had a no stress and the only hitch was when we said “I do” We would highly recommend to anyone who in planning a wedding, or indeed an anniversary.

The Best Day Of Our Lives!!!

Lovely spacious rooms, very attentive professional staff who made our day go perfectly.
Food was amazing, which was commented by all that attended the wedding.
We would recommend the Cock Hotel for a wonderful Wedding venue.

A Fantastic Day!

Planning a wedding during Lockdown wasn't easy and we changed our guest numbers a couple of times but the team at The Cock Hot were very flexible and made our day very special. Having access to the courtyard was lovely for the guests and photographer to mingle and relax after the emotion of the ceremony. The food was great too!

I have no words just simply PERFECT

Wow where do I begin!
I had my wedding here on 30/09/2022
Despite covid postponing the wedding Sara went above and beyond to ensure we still had our perfect day and we did eventually

All the staff was amazing but most of all Darren! No ask was too much for him on the day he made myself and my guests feel very comfortable and he handled the whole wedding from start to finish
Without Darren our day wouldn’t of been as relaxed as it was so Thankyou so much!
The food was delicious!
The turn around for the marquee room to change from ceremony to reception was done efficiently and looked fabulous

Thankyou to you all and will look forward to returning next year for our anniversary

Cock Hotel

Saw this location few years before even being engaged loved it. Its quaint and pretty. Love the old style of Marquee room and the courtyard.

When we got engaged I knew I needed to enquire. On first chat with Sara the wedding coordinator she seemed rather stressed and it felt like a demand for payment on room to secure, as they were busy. Fair enough stressy time during covid but inflexibility to view the room on her side was not my problem. This also seemed to set in a trend unfortunately. We were also told of some personal procedures the coordinator had been through, which seemed unprofessional but we let it slide.

Eventually we managed to view the room, choose our buffet foods and pay for our hotel room. A few details regarding parking etc were discussed. We were told we would meet 2 weeks prior the event to discuss finer details. We were fortunate enough to be gifted music. We also wanted further entertainment including a photographer. Which we had arranged. Understanding the need own insurances was fine. The way we were hounded for liability insurance was least professional, and actually set panic in. We even discovered that someone we had hired for the event had done numerous weddings there and not been asked for a certificate before. Now we found this detail off. Why would someone find the need to treat us differently to others?

We 100% paid and had fulfilled our end of the bargain. Stuck to their pay up policy. A friend who is a carpenter had made us a beautiful arch to use and wanted to deliver it to the hotel the day before. As you may have guessed he was rudely dissmissed with a liability insurance certificate demand. This totally deflated us. The promised meeting 2 weeks prior the event did not take place even after calling the hotel myself to arrange this. We wouldve been able to discuss the arch detail then. Hotel seemed to find flexibility in allowing us to use said arch. I can only imagine because of their error and lack of service they offered us.

We made a last minute decision to have welcome drinks for our guests on arrival and had requested options emailed. We were told this needed this to be paid 2 weeks prior the event, please bare in mind this is now a week prior the event. The menu attachment not emailed, however through a load of patience we arranged this.

We met with Darren, the day before our event he who oversees everything he actually couldn't do enough for us. We would like to thank Darren and advise that he be people facing and perhaps deal with enquiring brides and grooms to be. He really did go above and beyond. I believe her name is Angie the duty manager that evening too was tops.

So to sum up the experience we loved the location. We felt our money and liabilty certificates were most important to the wedding coordinator above giving us an experience to remember and treasure. Darren and Angie saved the day!
All in all we had a good time. If you can, deal with Darren and Angie.

From start to Finish...Amazing

Great team, great venue, great food, great package...a massive thank you to the team from Sara to Angie. Professional, understanding due to the move of date. We had an amazing wedding. Highly recommended and we will definitely book for our first year Anniversary.

Professional, friendly & caring, best day!

We had our wedding here on 13th September and it was magical .

From our first meeting with Sara we knew we had picked the right place, she was professional, friendly and caring nothing was too much trouble.

On the day everything ran like clock work, everything Sara and ourselves had worked so hard for fell into place.

Darren was excellent at his job as we're all members off staff from breakfast, waiting , bar , and housekeeping everyone made our day the best off our lives .

I just want to email a massive thank you to Sara, Tim and Darren.

Thank you for making our wedding reception so lovely.

I really was worried about not having the chance to set up the room the morning of the wedding but you made the room look absolutely fantastic, you listened to everything I wanted and even made it better than what I had pictured. Everyone said it look fantastic.

The food was lovely and it all ran so smooth and felt very relaxed.

With the thought of dealing with 3 people we were also slightly concerned if they were to be a bit of miscommunication but there wasn’t at all. Everything was just how we had planned.

So again, a really big thank you!!

We had the most wonderful Wedding Day!

Hi Sara and Darren,

We just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help and support - both in the run up to the wedding and on the day itself. We had the most wonderful wedding day!

We would greatly appreciate it if you would pass on our thanks to all members of staff who helped make our wedding so enjoyable. Staff were so approachable and professional!

The kind waiter (sorry i dont know his name), he has dark hair and beard just like davy. Davy wears black most of the time so I had a few people came to me saying they thought he was Davy, i just couldn't stop laughing! Please let him know and we are sorry if he had funny looks from people, they might think why Davy is switching between red and black all the time!
