The Castle Inn really provides the perfect combination of rustic charm and modern elegance, ideal for all types of wedding celebration. Located in the picturesque village of Spofforth on the outskirts of Harrogate, we pride ourselves on offering a truly heart-warming Yorkshire welcome to each and every one of our couples. Also, just a stones throw away is the incredible Spofforth Castle; an 11th century monument providing a truly magical backdrop for newlywed photos.
Our traditional yet contemporary setting offers a unique aesthetic with cosy nooks, converted barn rooms and a spacious outdoor garden and terrace. Our main event space is complete with a retractable glass roof bringing a real alfresco feel to your special day, all with the added guarantee of flawless lighting for those perfect photographs all year round!
Ceremonies
We are fully licensed to hold both indoor & outdoor ceremonies and our team at Malvern Events are on hand to help create the setting of your dreams. Alternatively, if you are looking for a more traditional wedding, we are lucky enough to have the beautiful All Saints Church just a two-minute walk away.
The Venue
The Castle Inn is a traditional country pub complete with cosy corners and local hand pull ales. The original pub opens out into 'The Yard' - a light and spacious setting ideal for larger celebrations of up to 110 daytime guests. With both full and half venue packages available; this space also lends itself to host ceremonies and receptions on a smaller scale, providing a much more intimate experience for couples with that preference. We are also a dog-friendly wedding venue and absoloutely love welcoming four legged friends to all our couples special days!
'The Barn' and 'The Horsebox' are our two adjoining rooms showcasing original oak features, complete with a private wedding bar. The event space then leads onto our peaceful terrace and spacious garden which is adorned with festoon lighting and beautiful blossom arch; the ideal spot for your drinks reception and confetti throw.
Accommodation
Our honeymoon cottage, BRAND NEW for 2025 is located just a few doors down from the pub, providing the ideal getting ready space and perfect off-site get away for the happy couple on the evening of the wedding. We are also proud to have twelve luxury boutique bedrooms on site, all of which are en-suite and finished to an exceptionally high standard featuring roll top baths, walk-in showers and four poster beds. Each room has been carefully curated to encapsulate a particularly well-known castle from around the country. All of our packages include complimentary accomodation for the happy couple and the remainder available to your guests at a discounted rate.

The perfect venue and incredible team!
From the first show around to our big day, Georgia and the team at the Castle Inn have been incredible. We very quickly knew this was the venue for us at our show around. Not only is it a beautiful place to get married, the team themselves are a joy to be around. Georgia is incredibly thorough at getting to know you and making sure everything is clear. A wedding, although very exciting, is also very nerve wracking and a lot to organise but Georgia made the whole process seem so simple and manageable and it was the first venue we visited that just made complete sense and we felt like everything was under control. After having our first consultation, after booking, Georgia ran through how the day would go with all of our preferences which really helped us know exactly what we needed to do. Georgia was always on hand for advice and to check in throughout the run up to the wedding. Our final consultation was again incredibly thorough and put us at complete ease that the day would run smoothly.
The day itself ran like clockwork and all of our guests repeatedly commented on how beautiful the venue was, how incredible the room turn arounds were and how amazing all of the staff were. Georgia was incredible on the day and checked in regularly whilst also ensuring you are able to be completely present with your guests and enjoy the day. Georgia's attention to detail throughout the day is incredible and nothing is too much. We had a couple of no shows and Georgia rearranged the aisle and tables at short notice. My bridesmaid was also poorly the day of the wedding and Georgia checked in on her for me and even went and made her a hot drink during the meal. The little thoughtful moments like that really do make you feel like a truly valued couple and not just another wedding. The other staff members were also absolutely amazing and nothing was ever too much, they were always smiling and incredibly polite and friendly. We were also helped by Eliza, Anastazja and Beccie who were all incredibly attentive and kind. The food was absolutely amazing and many people commented it was the best food they had eaten at a wedding.
All in all The Castle Inn is a beautiful venue that is so versatile but truly it is the staff who make it so special. We cant thank the whole team enough from Georgia running the day, to the chefs, waiters and waitresses, bar staff, the housekeepers and all involved that make the venue and the big day so wonderful and memorable!

November 25 - The Castle Inn
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of celebrating our cosy, small, and intimate wedding at The Castle Inn this past November, and it truly exceeded all our expectations.
Picking the venue was easy we viewed a few but we knew the Castle Inn was for us. We wanted a venue that we could go back to year after year. Whether that an overnight night stay for our anniversary or simply go back for a meal anytime we fancy. We loved the village too and on the lead up to the wedding we came for breakfast, lunches and attended the village summer events. Spofforth holds a special place to us.
From the moment we arrived, the venue exuded warmth and charm, perfectly complementing the crisp autumn air. The setting was soft, natural lighting filtering throughout, and the gentle glow of candles enhancing the romantic atmosphere.
The staff were absolutely amazing—big thank you to Georgia who was so attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making our special day flawless. She managed every detail with grace, ensuring everything flowed seamlessly, which allowed us to relax and truly immerse ourselves in the joy of the moment.
The venue itself was the epitome of cosy elegance. The intimate spaces created a heartfelt connection among our guests, and the décor, rich with seasonal accents, added a delightful seasonal touch.
We opted for a relaxed menu Pie and a pudding. Simple yet delicious. Although a small guest list, we had a number of dietary requirements. They worked with us to ensure everyone felt included and enjoy their meal.
We wanted a small wedding, that was focused around our family and Georgia helped us plan our perfect day. We could see the various style weddings The Castle Inn had done and they worked with us to make our day what we wanted.
The venue was a great pick as a number of our family were travelling so we hired a few rooms and we had the Keep cottage a few doors down.
The cottage was amazing, so homely yet luxurious, we can’t wait to go back in the near future. The hotel rooms for guests were all lovely. Each name theme in Yorkshire which we loved.
Having us and the guest on site meant we could celebrate the night before and then all had breakfast the morning after the wedding.
I can’t thank the venue enough. We truly had the best weekend celebrating!

Wow - what a perfect day!
We are so incredibly grateful to Georgia and the whole team and the Castle Inn for looking after us and ensuring we had the most perfect wedding day!
Right from the early stages of planning right the way through to the day itself Georgia made what could have been very stressful, such a manageable and enjoyable experience!
She really listened to what we wanted whilst providing advice and guidance where we needed it. She knew what questions to ask to make sure we built a vision for the day we wanted instead of building an "off the shelf" wedding package.
The entire team were so friendly and the food was exceptional. We can't thank you enough.

A real breath of fresh air, friendly, approachable and reliable.

Meeting Georgia and the team at the Castle Inn was honestly the biggest pleasure, we felt secure and Georgia's attentiveness and persistent professionalism made us both feel like we were not only being listened to, but also being understood. There was a good answer for everything, no "umm's and ahh's", we felt every question or concern was taken care of and looked after. I knew as soon as Georgia whipped out an Excel spreadsheet we were in good hands hah!
All jokes aside, my wife and I couldn't recommend this place enough, there was never a "no" from Georgia and the team, everyone involved had been attentive, approachable and reliable. You will be in good hands celebrating and trusting the Castle Inn (Malvern Events) in Spofforth with your special day. The Perfect Venue
We were looking for a casual but still stunning venue, with rooms and incredible food. We found that, and more, at The Castle Inn. From the very start their events coordinator (Georgia) was responsive, enthusiastic and full of ideas to help us shape our day into one that truly reflected us as a couple. We booked almost two years in advance, but she still checked in regularly. Nothing was too much trouble, she was happy to work with us on different layouts and a wet weather plan.
The food was unbelievable. We opted for a “posh bbq” which meant our guests were served freshly cooked chicken and steak at their table, while salads and sides were “serve yourself” on the table. We had a dessert table with guests able to choose what they liked from the options. Every single guest was blown away by the quality and flavour- genuinely amazing work by the chefs and waiting staff.
I truly can’t recommend this venue enough, it was perfect for us and helped us create the most amazing memories.

Accommodating venue with a private room & great food.
We recently had a family meal for 11x adults & 2x children following a Civil Ceremony at Harrogate Registry Office. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were polite, professional and efficient & the chef extremely accommodating of various food allergies & challenging menu choices! Not only was presentation of the food excellent but taste was good too. We booked The Barn, a private room for our family celebration which enabled us to be set apart from other guests and to relax. I would most definitely recommend the venue for the food, organisation (special thanks to Rachael Fry) & ambience.

The Best Day ❤️
Our wedding day truly was everything we'd dreamed of and so much more.
The Venue is beautiful, so simple and pretty, exactly what we were wanting. The room looked absolutely stunning for each part of our day and we didn't have to go crazy with the decor, something that was a high priority for us.
The food was delicious, every single one of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed it. All dietary needs were catered for, including my fussiness!
The staff are all absolutely incredible, we genuinely felt like we could have asked for anything and they would have made it happen, we cannot thank them all enough for their part in our day and help to make sure everything ran smoothly. An extra thanks to the lovely lady who ran to the shop to buy some Rice Krispies for my niece during the breakfast the morning after.
Now on to Georgia, what an absolutely amazing person you are. I genuinely don't think I would have coped over the last 18 months without your help. You made the whole process so much easier, your quick response to emails, your commitment to helping us make our day special (thank you again for practicing our entrance announcement with 5 different songs when we were struggling to decide) and your attention to detail. We genuinely cannot thank you enough!

Not a single thing bad to say! The relaxed yet perfect day we hoped for! Thankyou
We wanted something relaxed, not to over-think anything but just be a beautiful space to be together! We knew it wouldn’t happen again with our family from abroad.
It was just that, from the first meeting with Georgia (aka master of organising the unorganised!) we were really impressed with her knowledge and guidance through the whole planning. And yes, her speciality co-ordination skills were included!
We had a fabulous morning staying on site with the bridesmaids with a gorgeous breakfast hamper and nothing was too much trouble after a slight melt down. The room was gorgeous and felt luxurious especially the roll top bath.
The day was perfectly orchestrated by all the staff and Georgia at the helm! It was so busy I regret to say I didn’t see the mystical room changes that occurred unknowingly, just as you would hope.
The food was delicious, great portion size and even managed to impressed our guests from abroad, a tough task! Tables were beautiful and I didn’t need to worry about any late arriving additions like the cake and flowers on the morning. It was all taken care of beautifully.
Our Photo Booth and Dj booking was really happy with the space and area for the Photo Booth. All looked great and worked well with the fixed seating area giving a quieter space for older and/or less enthusiastic dancers of our guests.
We had 45 for the wedding breakfast and additional 20 in the evening and honestly it didn’t feel too small number for the space. Which I was worried about. It could easily accommodate a good few more if needed.
We honestly can’t thank Georgia, the amazing Castle inn staff and Malvern events enough for all you did to create a seamless day.

Gorgeous venue for our Wedding 🤍
We recently got married at the Castle Inn, which was organised by Georgia at Malvern Events. We had the most amazing day, and it couldn't have been any better. We hired half the venue which was perfect for our 65 guests, and 4 bedrooms were included so that we could stay over on the night of the wedding. We also used the other 8 bedrooms.
Georgia was outstandingly organised, and so helpful. She helped us decide on a day which suited our budget, and the value for money was brilliant. The venue itself is gorgeous, so many of our guests commented on how beautiful it was both inside and outside of the venue in the garden area.
We had a pulled pork grazing buffet, which again was perfect and so many guests commented on how lovely the food was, including the canapes. Breakfast the next morning was also gorgeous. They catered for our guests with dietary requirements so kindly, offering them separate plates of canapes, and meals.
The rooms are all individually beautiful & well equipped with everything you'd need. We also received a personalised gift when we got back to our room which was a really nice touch.
Georgia checked in with us regularly both in the lead up to the wedding, and on the day and made sure everyone/ everything was in the right place at the right time. She made us feel so relaxed.
The service from all the staff at the Castle Inn was amazing, they were all so attentive. They turned the room around from ceremony room to reception meal so quickly & we used a mixture of our own decorations and theirs which they laid out perfectly.
Thank you so much, it's a day we will certainly never forget & I would highly recommend The Castle Inn as a wedding venue. If we could do it all again we would!!

faultless day
Our wedding day was sensational, however just the day doesn’t quite sum up our whole experience with the castle inn & Malvern events. Georgia & her team were absolutely incredible from the very first viewing appointment down to the morning after the wedding. Georgia responded to my emails promptly, helped us out with planning, advised us on organisation & so much more. We knew the venue was the one for us from the first viewing, it is rustic yet modern, the food is incredible (this was a biggie for us), the bar is fully stocked, the outdoor area is vast & the village is beautiful. We had such a wonderful day & experience with the castle inn & the best part is we can keep coming back to relive the memories! Georgia was extremely flexible, we changed our mind from a wedding breakfast to a more relaxed bbq & it worked perfectly. Thank you so much for everything I would recommend this venue & team to anyone.

Perfect Wedding Venue
From our first enquiry to Georgia at Malvern Events at The Castle Inn all the way through our wedding day and afterwards, the whole experience was fantastic. Georgia and her team work so hard to create really individual wedding experiences for whatever size of party. She is prompt with e mails and communications, very organised and kept on top of everything. Georgia was vey understanding and respectful when we had to put wedding planning on pause just a few months before the day when my Dad became unwell and sadly passed away. She gave us space, got on with things in the background and only contacted us when essential things needed doing - this was so kind, we really appreciate it (as I think some wedding planners would panic at that point!).
We had 30 guests for photos at the Castle (real castle ruins in the village) before having the ceremony, drinks reception in the garden, breakfast, then 'The Wedding Olympics' outside followed by jazz and cocktails with live musicians. Georgia listened to all of our ideas/requests/preferences and made it all happen. The rooms at the pub are beautiful, all our guests stayed there and we filled all the rooms making it feel really homely and welcoming. Breakfast was also great!
The staff are wonderful, so helpful, polite and fun, attentive to guests needs and requests.
The chef's created a whole new menu for us as we really wanted an Indian style mixed grill BBQ - this was delicious and they were so accommodating!
During the wedding day, our cottage was cleaned and tidied and a really special personalised gift and a card left in there for us to open at the end of the night.
All those little touches made it an absolutely fantastic experience and we had the most wonderful day that we'll cherish forever. Thank you so much Georgia and her team!
We had 30 guests for photos at the Castle (real castle ruins in the village) before having the ceremony, drinks reception in the garden, breakfast, then 'The Wedding Olympics' outside followed by jazz and cocktails with live musicians. Georgia listened to all of our ideas/requests/preferences and made it all happen. Beautiful venue & brilliant staff
I can’t recommend this place enough for your wedding or any big event. Georgia and the team are absolutely brilliant.
The venue is stunning, we fell in love with it on the first viewing. They do it up beautifully but are also very adaptable if you want to provide your own decoration. Change over time is ideal and looks like a new room when they are done.
The actual castle really adds to the location too as you can get some great photos to remember your big day and it only 5 minutes walk away.
My one and only negative is the room is so hot! We got married on a warm day and we were both sweating buckets in our suit and dress. There is a beautiful garden area sectioned off which was put to good use (and made for lovely confetti shots) but all day guests didn’t want to go inside to dance to the DJ until it cooled down.
Everyone loved the food (we went for pie and mash) but they are big portions. We knew this from the menu tasting so paced ourselves but other guests were so full by dessert.
Now onto the highlight of The Castle Inn (well apart from getting married) is Georgia and her team. Absolutely top class! All were so friendly, helpful and seemed genuinely happy for us.
Georgia was unbelievable supportive, not just on the planning stages but throughout the whole process, even emailing us a week later. She made an effort from the start to get to know us so her suggestions and advice were personable and greatly appreciated. It was lovely for her to come to check in with me the morning of and throughout the day making sure I didn’t need or want anything. During planning she made herself available to answer the most stupid of my questions. The whole day ran so smoothly without any issues and I really do think that’s down to her and everyone involved in our wedding at The Castle Inn.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding so special and memorable. 5 stars from us.

The best wedding day ever all thanks to the Malvern Events team
Where do I even begin to start with how incredible our wedding day was at the Castle inn. The Castle holds a very special place in our hearts even before the wedding - it's one of our locals and my family have been visiting the pub for food and drink for many years! It felt only right that we got married there and wow was it the best decision we made. We chose a New Year's Eve wedding to bring in the new year with all of our closest friends and family and many of them were local spofforth residents which was even more special! The attention to detail, the catering and the general flow of the day was perfect and there isn't one fault we could give. If you are newly engaged and are looking at venues then I highly highly recommend you go and speak to the team and book there! It's perfect for intimate to large weddings! A big thank you to the team and our coordinator Georgia, your heart and soul went into the day and we are so grateful for everything you did for us! Happy new year to the team, you've made ours the best new years ever we will ever have.
P.S. Don't forget to book the new cottage they have refurbished for bridal parties and newlyweds. It's just a one-minute walk from the main venue and is absolutely stunning. It was perfect for us to get ready in the morning and to stay there with my new husband on the night of the wedding.

Best venue & wedding planner ever!
Wow I don’t even know where to begin!
From the moment we went to view The Castle Inn Spofforth to our perfect winter wedding day last week the service has been incredible!
From the moment we first visited and met Georgia , we knew this was the perfect venue for us! Georgia explained all the packages they could offer us but made sure it was perfect for us and exactly what we wanted! She was warm, friendly and such a loveable person!
Leading up to the wedding , Georgia has always been contactable and kept in touch the whole time. She made everything super easy for us and made our planning stress free as she made sure everything was perfect! Georgia is an asset to Malvern Events and we are sad we won’t be seeing her anymore!
The venue , wow it’s just stunning! Without any decorations , the venue is warm, inviting and naturally stunning! We went for a winter wedding theme and opted to have the Christmas decorations up which just complemented the venue and our theme perfect!
The running of the day was faultless , the team worked tirelessly to ensure all our guests where happy and everything ran exactly as it should!
The food was incredible , all our guests loved it!
It was just the perfect venue for us! We had around 67 to the day and 100 to the evening and couldn’t have picked a better venue! We loved everything about it and have had so many compliments from our guests about the venue , staff, reasonable priced drinks and amazing day!
We can not recommend the castle enough! They simply can not do enough for you! The wedding itself we thought was very well priced compared to a lot of venues and we received 5 star service throughout!
