Midelney Manor

The setting; a beautiful Elizabethan manor farm in the depths of the somerset levels, surrounded by fields, woods and nature. The marquee sits in one of 4 magnificent gardens, all expertly maintained with fruit trees and wild borders. The marquee, hired in from a local provider, is a sturdy canvas and wood structure with various options depending on the number of guests. There are many additions you can make and options to choose from, but with atmospheric lighting and rustic tables it creates a wonderful canvas reminiscent of traditional times for you to add special personalisation’s to. The ‘potting Shed’ acts as a quiet space for guests and also doubles as a bar. This has a great barn vibe with antique and rustic accessories everywhere – not to mention the higgledy-piggledy structure of the ancient building! Wedding party accommodation consists of a wing of the building with modern fittings balanced with traditional original features. Two glamping pods are available in the woodland which are at the top end of glamping quality with comfortable facilities, wood fired hot-tubs and amazing views across the somerset levels. I would highly recommend booking these out as they contribute to a purely special experience. There is so much room for accessorising with your own additions to make it special to your big day.
The host; Alice is truly exceptional. Initially when we were scoping out different venues, we noticed how Midelney stood out for its setting, but also more importantly for Alice and how she approached hosting our big day. Initially sitting us down to learn about us, where we came from over a cup of tea, she then asked about what we wanted from the day, all whilst taking detailed notes. You would’ve thought this standard among venues, but Alice was the only one who really excelled in this aspect. Once we decided (which was a very easy decision), Alice sent us everything we needed in order to plan for our day. This included everything from caterers to make-up and hair recommendations, to information to send guests on accommodation, taxis etc. It was so comprehensive, we managed to sort out everything in a week leaving the rest of the years planning free of stress and worry. Our wishes were met in every aspect with every request or intention being met with a problem solving mind. Alice hosted a small wedding fayre for us to attend with other couples getting married at Midelney. Here she invited her most recommended wedding providers (photographers, caterers, make-up, stationary etc.) for us to sample their work and meet various providers before committing to their services. This was particularly helpful for photographers (who I think are very important to meet before hire) and for wedding stationary and florists, where we were able to hold and see their products. This event was very helpful, particularly as you knew that these providers were hand selected from years of trusted work with Alice. Also in the lead up the big day, We occasionally met with Alice, or received e-mails from her to check on our progress, but more importantly to see if she could help solve anything we were have difficulty with (which she often did). I want to stress that Alice’s help in the organisation phase significantly helped make the preparations calm, easy and to our requirements. Then came the big day where Alice was on hand for anything and everything. Expertly managing not being too present, and being there exactly when you needed her. Helping anyone and everyone to keep the day going and keep the guests comfortable and solving issues immediately.
It all contributed to a perfect day and just how we wanted it, for which we will be forever grateful of the part Midelney and Alice played.

Not only is Midelney the perfect venue for a wedding but the venue also comes with the amazing Alice who really does go above and beyond! From the first meeting we had with her to decide if Midelney was the place for us, we knew we were onto something special and boy were we right. She's with you every step of the way (she even helped button me into my dress when my sister realised just how many buttons there were!) Nothing is too much trouble and every little detail is taken care of. BOOK THERE NOW! you won't be disappointed. The grounds are so beautiful with plenty of places for people to roam around and so lovely to have choices on where to get married too and the Potting shed is equally as beautiful if you do end up getting married on a rainy day and have an indoor ceremony. Midenley Manor was an absolute dream come true, the inside is just as rustic and beautiful as the outside, with large grounds, fit with everything you’d expect in a Manor House, including woodland areas. All the guests couldn’t believe how stunning the scenery was at Midenley and I’m sure we’ll all be talking about it for years to come.
We got married outside, but knew if the weather wasn’t up for it then we would have happily gotten married inside.
Alice, the venue owner is so lovely. Throughout planning our wedding she helped all the way, no question was silly. I contacted through email and she would respond within 24hrs. Throughout our special day she was there ensuring everything went smoothly, and it did. The day went soo well.
I’m absolutely over the moon with the entire process, Alice made it easy & fun booking her beautiful venue. This is definitely one place that I would recommend to anyone.

Midelney Manor was our wedding venue in July 2026 and was simply incredible. The grounds are beautiful, and provide brilliant flexibility with the option for a ceremony in the gardens, the woods or inside. Only having 10 weddings a year here made our wedding feel very personal and we were able to have everything exactly as we had hoped. The owner, Alice, is an amazing selling point to this venue in herself! She was incredibly helpful in providing contacts for literally everything that might be needed, was a huge help with planning in the build up, and made the day run so seamlessly that we did not have to think about anything on the day. All of our guests said how beautiful the whole venue was, and how amazing the day was at Midelney Manor - we could not recommend this venue enough!

Our wedding at Midelney Manor was magical.

We arranged a visit to Midelney Manor shortly after getting engaged and after our first look around we were sold, we didn't need to look at any other venues.

Midelney is everything we were looking for in a venue: a beautiful house oozing with history and quirk, stunning grounds to house a marquee, a fairytale woodland and the perfect host in Alice! There is no one we would've wanted to have gone through our wedding journey with other than her, she really does put the magic in Midelney Manor and everything runs like clockwork with Alice at the helm. We can't thank her enough.

Part of Midelney's charm is that it's not a wedding factory. Only a handful of weddings happen here a year and that really does make your day feel special for you and your family. Pretty much all of our guests hadn't of heard of Midelney Manor before the day, but they all commented on how beautiful it was.

We stayed in the lodge in the woodland whilst our family stayed in Midelney West which was just lovely and extended the celebrations for that little bit longer. We're already planning a visit back to Midelney for our first year anniversary.

It is a real hidden gem and we feel incredibly lucky that we got to hold the most incredible weekend of our lives in this little pocket of Somerset heaven!

Where do I even start?! Midelney Manor is the most perfect wedding venue ever!! We cannot recommend it enough, we had an absolutely unbelievably beautiful wedding at Midelney thanks to the Wonderful owner Alice. Alice is the most kind, generous and supportive person; any problems we had that were wedding related we could ask her and she would become the font of all knowledge! Anytime I (the bride) was worrying or anxious she put my mind totally to rest. My husband and I, my parents, friends and family felt so at home at Midelney and loved every second of it! If you are getting married, Midelney Manor is most DEFINITELY the place for you!

Midelney Manor was a wonderful location for our wedding. The secluded gardens and traditional buildings were beautiful on the day and kept in high quality. The highlight of experience however was Alice herself however, who supported us throughout the planning process and organised the logistics for the day between all our suppliers. She made this look effortless and allowed for the day to progress smoothly without so much as a hitch. We are thankful for the help she provided and the care she treated our wedding and guests.

From start to finish Alice was very personable, helpful and just created the most perfect atmosphere in what was a very intimate wedding.

The weather turned and though dissapointed we couldn't marry in the garden it actually worked out for the better as the potting shed was so beautiful! And it left the gardens for some incredible photos.

Our little 7 month old thoroughly enjoyed the colours , environment and hooning about in his walker. It was a very safe space for him to have the very best day with us.

I would do that day over and again in a heartbeat. We can't share our thanks enough. Not only is Midelney a special day but it's part of the family and we are looking forward to return for some of their events.

My husband and I were recently married at beautiful Midelney Manor. We can’t express enough how grateful and lucky we are to have stumbled upon such a brilliant venue and wonderful host, Alice.
 
The grounds themselves are rustic and enchanting, and all our guests were blown away by the beauty of the house and gardens. We used the potting shed for the ceremony and had a marquee in the walled gardens for dining and dancing, although there were many different configurations and spaces we could have used to match different personalities, number of guests and themes.
 
Beyond the wonderful venue itself, the host Alice was incredible. From the first viewing until after the big day, Alice was always genuinely willing to offer advice and help.
 
When planning, she was interested to hear our thoughts and ideas, offer advice and shared a very detailed list of brilliant suppliers and caterers that she’d had a great experience with before.
 
Alice was always willing to speak to our suppliers and on the day was accessible to make changes to suit us and make sure that our day was as stress-free as possible. She even ran the bar in the evening offering a brilliant range of cocktails.
 
For us, this combination immediately made Midelney incomparable to other venues and we couldn’t imagine our special day anywhere else. It was honestly the best day of our lives celebrating with our loved ones and Alice made the day run perfectly by being calm, helpful and fun all at the same time! These memories are priceless, something my husband and I will cherish forever.

From the moment we walked through to the gardens at Midelney, we knew it was the venue for us. The walled rose garden, the potting shed, the forest behind, it has such beauty and variety. And the fact that we could make it our own with our decisions and decor was even more special.

Alice was so warm and welcoming from the word go and helped us with so many details, from choosing fabulous suppliers that suited our style and budget perfectly, to helping us organise our booze (vital!) to assisting with last minute asks on the day.

She was calm and so helpful throughout the day and I know so much work went on behind the scenes with the various suppliers to make it the magical day that it was.

Midelney West is also absolutely perfect for the bridal party - beautifully decorated and really well kitted out accommodation, and the fact that you can stay the night before made it even more wonderful.

Everyone at our wedding adored the venue and commented on how stunning and unique it was. It was the wedding of our dreams and we couldn’t be happier.

Midelney Manor review

From the moment we came to view Midelney Manor and met the wonderful Alice, we knew instantly this venue had something unique and special to offer and we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to having our wedding reception here. Alice and her team made us feel so welcome from the beginning, it felt like the venue itself was an extension of our family home. The beautiful and historic venue was the perfect and secluded backdrop we wanted for our big day. The grounds were beautifully cared for and there was plenty of space for family and friends, both young and old. We hired a marquee to use on the grounds which complimented the wonderfully characteristic potting shed. Alice was at the end of the phone and email and offered her support continually throughout the entire process. We rented Midelney West for our family and it was so enjoyable having family so close by whilst my husband and I stayed in the log cabin which is also on site. The biggest draw to hiring Midelney was the opportunity to hire it all weekend from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. This allowed us to have a relaxed and fun day on the Friday decorating the marquee and getting ready for the big day. We can’t recommend Alice and Midelney enough for anybody who would like to have a beautiful, quintessential English backdrop with tons of support and cherishable memories to add.

Beautiful venue, Alice is amazing. Literally got us in to shape and made the whole event flow. Our guests were amazed. Alice got to know us and we felt we could have the day we wanted as she was so flexible. Communication and patience were perfect.

Midelney Manor has several areas you can choose to hold your ceremony with an absolutely beautiful wet weather location which is full of character and won’t feel like a secondary option if the weather isn’t kind to you. Then it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to your drinks reception and wedding breakfast in the grounds of the manor!
In the run up, our weather was looking unpredictable but Alice was checking every weather app and doing everything in her power to ensure we could have the day as planned as much as possible. The morning of, Alice was coordinating with all our suppliers allowing us to be able to enjoy the morning without stressing, we knew that our day was in safe hands and any decisions she made due to weather would have been carefully considered. All our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful the venue was!
If you want a really personal wedding experience in a venue that will give you carte blanche and complete flexibility to do what you want, Midelney Manor is for you. We had a truly unforgettable wedding, we are so glad we chose Midelney Manor and will be forever grateful for Alice’s experience and support throughout. Thank you so much Alice!
