Tower Hamlets Town Hall is a beautiful and historic site in East London for your perfect day. Tower Hamlets Council took over the site of the Grade Two listed Royal London Hospital (opened 1757), renewing it to create a Town Hall and wedding venue for the modern day, pairing period features with modern design.

Steeped in history and political significance, our spaces combine the luxury of modern architecture (designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris), the functionality which goes with this, and the beauty and quirkiness of the first public hospital built to serve the East End of London.

Access to site is available from 8am-Midnight.

Council Chamber & Grocers' Wing ceremony and reception package: £5454.60 + VAT. Ceremony seating for 150, reception seating up to 200.

The Terrace & Grocers' Wing ceremony and reception package: £3894.60 + VAT. Ceremony seating for 50, reception seating up to 100.

The Operating Theatre & Grocers' Wing ceremony and reception package: £3582.60 + VAT. Ceremony seating for 20, reception seating up to 100.

The packages above all include access to the site from 9:00-00:00, an events manager, two security officers, one cleaner and furniture (tables, chairs, easels for table plans) and AV equipment (72" screens and PA system with handheld and lapel mics).

In addition to the above, ceremony hire rates range from £246 to £480 (+ VAT and any extras), for one ceremony, inclusive of furniture hire.

Spaces:

The Council Chamber offers sleek modern design, inbuilt AV technology and the flexibility of use for wedding ceremonies or receptions. With inbuilt seating for 90, and the option to increase this to 150, the space is perfect for larger weddings with a focus on comfort and style.

The Terrace is a unique location, nessled between the historic original roof of the 1832 Royal London Hospital and the new 2012 Royal London Hospital, this location beautifully combines history with modern architecture. The terrace offers a quiet green space in the heart of the city, sitting on our 4th floor so it is isolated from the hustle and bustle below.

The Old Operating Theatre is a unique and quirky venue, perfect for wedding ceremonies for those with a medical background or a history with the Royal London Hospital and the West end. Contained on the Town Hall's third floor in a room that was once an operating theatre, the space hosts heritage features, retaining the theatre operating panel, refurbished surgical lights, “Laser do not enter sign” and tiered terrazzo flooring (once used as a viewing area for medical students). For smaller weddings resulting in a memorable and photogenic experience this space offers something entirely unique.

The Grocers' Wing is our large multi-purpose events space. With two halls side by side this space offers you flexibility and accommodation for your wedding reception. Choose to marry in one of our other spaces and then come down our 1905 Grade two listed stairs into our reception space, caringly set up to your specifications.

Conveniently located in the heart of Whitechapel, only a 20-minute walk from the City with easy transport links to the rest of London and the country, Tower Hamlets Town Hall offers ease and comfort on your special day.
