A hidden gem in the countryside, Lanwades Hall is an impressive stately home wedding venue nestled in Newmarket, Suffolk. Offering exclusive use for your special day, this venue will have you fall in love all over again. Versatile to accommodate weddings year-round, this manor is flexible to host weddings of all types.
Facilities and Capacity
Set upon 12 acres of the glorious English countryside, Lanwades Hall's beautiful entrance is flanked by mirrored gatehouses with striking wrought-iron gates. The grand mansion sits proudly at the end of a sweeping, tree-lined driveway spanning half a mile, setting the scene for the romantic celebrations. The grounds are also home to beautiful woodland with mature trees swaying in the breeze, echoing a glorious display of wildflower meadows. Impress your guests with the Champagne Terrace, leading down the old stone steps to the stunning Sunken Garden. This unique and romantic space can be used for outdoor ceremonies under the summer sun. Roaring log fires and a whiskey bar will keep you warm in the winter, while the original oak panelling and high ceilings will remind you of a bygone era. Overlooking the Sunken Garden is the grand wedding suite, one of the most luxurious rooms on the property. The suite has ample space for pre-wedding preparations with a private lounge area and an extra-large en-suite with a roll-top bath. Family and friends can book two luxury en-suite rooms in the east wing. Ten bedrooms are also available, arranged as spacious social apartments, complete with a sitting room, kitchen, and a private roof terrace for pre-wedding drinks.

The best Venue!
Exceptional!!!
We have received so many compliments about how beautiful the venue was. I literally gasped when I saw the lavender on the Friday - the colour was unbelievable. And the jasmine arch smelled divine! The whole venue looked stunning and created the most incredible backdrop for our wedding. It was magical from start to finish.
What we appreciated most, though, was everything that happened behind the scenes that we'll probably never even know about. The logistics, organisation, co-ordination and countless moving parts that go into delivering a wedding day of that scale must be enormous. Yet from our perspective, everything felt completely seamless. We were able to spend the day simply enjoying ourselves, being present with our family and friends, and celebrating together, because we knew everything was being taken care of. That is such a gift and we're incredibly grateful for it. So a humungous thank you!
Please do pass on our thanks to everyone involved. Every member of the team played a part in making our day so special, and we will always look back on it with the happiest memories. Thank you to Carmen to helping with our last minute requests on Friday (and no doubt all the things happening behind the scenes on Saturday). And please also pass on our huge thanks to Natalie - I was in a right anxious tizz on the wedding day and she made me feel instantly calm every time I saw her.
And lastly, thank you so much to you both, Elvis and Alex - you have created a truly magical place and our wedding day was perfect.
Absolutely incredible
A perfect venue!
The main reason we chose Lanwades was that it feels stately and special but still super inviting and comfortable - it's big enough to give people room but not so big they get lost, and you really feel like the place is yours for the day. The inside needs very little dressing because it's already so tastefully decorated, the building and grounds are amazing backdrops for photos, and the gardens are gorgeous all year round – our wedding was at the end of March and the sunken garden had begun to bloom. Several of our guests commented on what a stunning venue Lanwades is!
Another draw for us was the accommodation. Our entire wedding party (including ourselves!) were travelling from different parts of the country, so it was lovely to be able to have nearest and dearest on site for the nights before and after the actual wedding day. The rooms are beautifully finished, and the comfort and luxury of the wedding suite itself was unmatched by any others we saw. The Cedar suite for grooms to get ready is a really thoughtful addition and was a much appreciated bonus for us!
The best thing about Lanwades is the people - everyone was warm and responsive from our first showaround to our wedding day almost two years later. Alex and Elvis are just the most welcoming and accommodating hosts, remembering details that meant we had a really personal experience. Charlotte is so positive to work with and was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process, and Tegan was really lovely and organised on the wedding weekend itself.
The team at Lanwades made our wedding planning easy and enjoyable and ensured that our big day went really smoothly, and we can't thank them enough!

We loved that we could book the venue for two nights and have a big chunk of family and friends stay over too. On the night before the wedding, we booked a load of tables at The Kentford pub for a pre-wedding celebration which was fantastic. Plenty of hotels/Air B&Bs nearby for guests in and around Newmarket/Bury St. Edmunds!
We can't even begin to thank the staff at Lanwades enough, particularly Tegan and Elvis who were so lovely, approachable, flexible and professional, as well as always being prompt with responses and queries we had. Our day ran like clockwork and we really appreciated the little touches, like saving us some of our wedding cake to have when we got back to our room! There is such a warm and homely feel from all of the staff at Lanwades and it is the most beautiful venue - so many of our guests commented on the daffodils on the drive up!

A dream venue!
The team there are fabulous, and a huge shoutout to Charlotte, our coordinator, who consistently went above and beyond through the whole process to ensure our day was completely seamless. Booking was so easy, and she held our hands throughout the entire process of organising our day. She even stepped in to announce us into our wedding breakfast, and put together a little video of our day when someone couldn’t make it.
The property itself is stunning - although it looks big, it feels so homely and welcoming. And the gardens are beautiful, providing the perfect places for photos as well.
I couldn’t recommend Lanwades Hall enough, and I hope more people get to experience the absolute joy of getting married there.
Our special day
On the day itself, they were amazing. Everything ran so smoothly that we could actually relax and enjoy every moment, even though we were both nervous. Tegan was a lifesaver, confirming table setting details when I’d forgotten to add my binder to the box, and Charlotte was such a calming presence, giving me comfort and advice just before I walked down the aisle when I was feeling stressed. Elvis and Alex were equally brilliant, quietly making sure every little detail was perfect so we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
Their attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care made our day feel effortless and joyful. We honestly couldn’t have done it without them. Thanks to this incredible team, our wedding was everything we hoped for—and more.

Alex brings a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the venue to his role as General Manager overseeing facilities. With a hands-on approach and meticulous attention to detail, Alex works tirelessly to maintain the high standards couples expect on their wedding day. His commitment to excellence ensures the Hall always looks its very best and operates seamlessly for every celebration.
As our dedicated wedding coordinator, Carmen ensures every celebration runs flawlessly from start to finish. From putting the final touches on event setups to greeting guests with a friendly smile, her infectious energy and organizational skills shine through.
