About

Cerne Abbey is one of the most beautiful and historic places to marry in the South West. An ancient Grade I listed abbey in the Dorset village of Cerne Abbas, beneath the hill with the famous Giant, it has only just opened its doors for weddings after a thousand years.

Founded in 987, it carries over a thousand years of history in its walls, and few places make a more beautiful or special setting for your wedding.

At its heart is the old Monument courtyard, with medieval stone buildings and a lawn between them. Couples can marry in the grounds, with St Mary's Church 150 metres away for a church service. For the day, the abbey is yours alone.

It suits intimate gatherings up to 150 guests, with room for a marquee and your own choice of caterers.

Packages from £5,000. The abbey is even more breathtaking in person, so do reach out for a look round, or visit cerneabbey.com.
