Lauren is the artist behind Lauren Young Illustration, offering both live wedding illustration and bespoke wedding stationery. Her journey into weddings began when two photographers, already familiar with her work, asked if she would consider illustrating at their weddings. The idea sparked a new passion – and she hasn’t looked back since.

Lauren is a professional artist with over 7 years experience, holding a First Class Honours degree in Illustration and Design. Based just outside Carlisle in Cumbria, on the Northumberland border, she works across the Lake District, Cumbria, Northumberland and the North East, bringing her creative services to couples throughout the region.

Her live wedding illustration service is a unique way to capture the day. Working directly at the wedding, Lauren creates beautiful hand-drawn portraits of guests, couples and special moments as they unfold, producing a collection of illustrations that serve as lasting keepsakes of the celebration.

Alongside this, Lauren designs bespoke wedding stationery that is tailored to each couple. From save the dates and invitations through to on-the-day details like menus, table plans and signage, every piece is created from scratch to reflect the couple’s personality and style. A design fee covers the creative process, while couples can choose their preferred printing options to suit their needs and budget.

By working closely with each couple, Lauren makes the process stress-free and time-saving, removing the need to search endlessly for off-the-shelf designs.

Sustainability is at the heart of her work: she uses FSC-certified, recycled and seeded papers alongside eco-friendly print techniques, giving couples peace of mind while also supporting a small, local business.

Live Illustration - How does it work?

On the wedding day, Lauren sets up in a location of the couple’s choice within the venue. Depending on the chosen package and how the couple would like the day to run, she can either work from a list of guests or groups provided in advance, or guests can simply choose to visit her throughout the celebration. She is able to paint individuals, couples, or groups of up to five guests in one illustration. Each artwork typically takes between 5–20 minutes, depending on the number of people included.

Lauren takes reference photographs of each guest as they visit, allowing her to work on the portraits throughout the day while still capturing the natural flow of the wedding, breakfast, speeches and beyond. Guests are welcome to stop by and watch their portraits take shape, adding to the experience.

At the end of the wedding, Lauren takes the illustrations back to her studio to add any finishing touches before carefully posting the completed collection to the couple, ready to be shared with guests as beautiful and unique wedding favours.
