About

Joseph & Oak is a UK + Essex-based documentary wedding photographer, capturing weddings in a natural, relaxed way that reflects how the day actually felt.

Joseph isn’t there to turn your wedding into a photoshoot. He’d rather stay out of the way, pay attention, and let things unfold as they are. The moments that matter aren’t usually planned anyway. It’s the quick reactions, the atmosphere, the in-between bits that people end up coming back to.

He’s naturally quite observant and tends to notice things most people miss. The way people interact, how the energy shifts, the quieter moments that happen away from everything else. That’s what shapes how the day is documented.

The style leans warm, soft, and slightly nostalgic. Nothing overdone or trend-led. Natural light plays a big part, and everything is kept calm and true to life so the photos feel like your day, not something heavily edited into something else.

Working with Joseph is straightforward. Most couples don’t feel comfortable in front of a camera, and that’s completely normal. By keeping things low-pressure and easy, people relax into the day, and that’s when the best photos happen.

On the day itself, he blends into the background when things are calm and also matches the energy of the people around him. If it’s a quiet moment, he’ll stay unobtrusive. If it’s a packed dance floor or a big, lively group, he’s right there in it, capturing it as it happens without slowing anything down.

He steps in when it actually helps. A bit of guidance for portraits, keeping group photos simple, then straight back to letting everything carry on naturally.

Coverage is usually across the full day, from the quieter morning moments through to the evening when everything loosens up. The final gallery reflects the full flow of the day, not just the highlights, but the smaller moments that make it feel like yours.

Joseph & Oak suits couples who don’t want anything staged or forced. People who care more about how the day felt than trying to make everything look perfect.

Joseph & Oak currently offers limited availability while building a small portfolio of weddings.
