About Andrew Heeley Photo

Andrew Heeley Photo is the work of Andrew, a wedding photographer based in Sheffield who has photographed weddings across Yorkshire, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and the rest of the UK since 2019.

Andrew learned photography on his lunch breaks, walking the streets of Sheffield and photographing whatever happened in front of him, and it was a florist at the city's market who first suggested he try weddings. That habit of watching, rather than directing, is still what he's known for. Couples often say they forgot he was there, and more than once guests have assumed he was one of the couple's friends. Every kind of couple is welcome, from large celebrations to small ceremonies and elopements, and Andrew is part of the LGBTQ+ community himself.

What it's like working with Andrew

The watching starts well before the day. There's a call or a coffee to get to know each other, a WhatsApp group for questions as they come up, and a planning call a few weeks out, where Andrew and the couple write up a plan for the day together, so he already knows who matters and when. On the day itself, portraits are short and relaxed, mostly a walk and a conversation, which means couples spend their wedding with their guests rather than away from them.

After the wedding

Once the day is over, Andrew edits every photograph himself. Couples receive a set of highlights within two weeks, with a few prints as a thank-you, and their full gallery within ten, with unlimited downloads and a licence to print wherever they like. For anyone who wants their day as something to hold, fine art albums are made in Yorkshire.

In Andrew's words

"I'm not a performer, and I don't expect you to be one either. Most of what's worth photographing at a wedding happens when nobody's posing: a dad helping the best man with his tie, a guest bouncing on a space hopper next to a 'No Ball Games' sign. You can't plan moments like those, but you can be in the right place when they happen. So enjoy your wedding. I'll handle the photos."
