Experience
Gordon manages North East Soiree, who can provide various styles and combinations of live music depending on what you need. The group started in the North East in 2002 and have since performed at more than 1500 weddings and events across the North East of England.
Services Offered
North East Soiree has a wide repertoire of over 500 tunes available for String Quartet, all of which are available as Violin and Piano or as String Trio. Music for wedding ceremonies, during the photos/drinks reception, and/or as the evening band, all with just one group of musicians. The Ceilidh band is led by Gordon, who demonstrates every dance and then encourages everyone onto the dancefloor with instructions during the actual dancing. The moves don't need to be perfect, just as long as everyone has a go and joins in the fun. The Ceilidh is a great way to get all the members of the two families, work colleagues, and friends together. It's a great party starter! The cover band is live and spontaneous, with everything performed from memory and no backing tracks. The package also comes with modern disco lights and a PA system with PAT Certs for all electric items. Custom playlists are welcomed for the DJ after the band finishes and, of course, the first and last dances.

Meet the team

I have been playing keyboards (and calling) for Ceilidhs since leaving school in Scotland and worked as a Double Bass player and part time teacher for 10 years in the Strathclyde region before moving to the North East in 1998. I married Amanda, a Yorkshire lass who performs as a freelance Bassoonist in orchestras locally and who used to perform with our group regularly on Sax and Viola but not so much since our daughter was born. We now have a busy 10yo daughter who is learning Violin, Piano, Sax, Guitar, Singing and does lots of styles of dancing, gymnastics, swimming etc. every week.
I love performing in a variety of small groups like String Quartets, Jazz/Swing groups and the Covers band but running ceilidhs is what I do for fun and it keeps me fit.
