Cocoa and Whey Cakes is a multi award winning wedding cake studio creating refined, flavour led designs for couples across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. We are proud recipients of The Couples Choice Award at The English Wedding Awards 2024 and Hitched Wedding Awards for 2024, 2023 and 2022.
Our work is rooted in a Romantic Modernism style, blending clean, elegant structure with soft, artistic detailing. Every cake is crafted with fine ingredients, thoughtful flavour balance and a bespoke approach to design. We specialise in modern buttercream finishes, couture fondant work, sculptural sugar flowers and both sweet and savoury wedding cakes created with care and precision.
Based in Farnham, Dorset, we work closely with couples to create cakes that feel personal, beautifully considered and in harmony with the aesthetic of their day. Alongside wedding cakes, we create macarons, cookies, truffles and a curated selection of sweet and savoury treats for dessert tables.
Our couples often share wonderful feedback about the depth of flavour and how memorable their tasting experience is. It is a joy to be part of such an important celebration and we take every brief seriously from first enquiry to final delivery.
What We Offer
Cocoa and Whey Cakes provides an extensive menu of sweet and savoury flavours. Sweet options include vanilla and malt, raspberry and champagne, lemon and elderflower, mocha fudge and Baileys. Savoury options include walnut, apple and cheddar cake, along with savoury shortbreads, muffins and cakepops. We also create dessert tables featuring macarons, cookies, cupcakes, truffles and other elegant treats.

How much notice do I need to give you?
Most couples book six to twelve months ahead, especially for peak summer dates. If your wedding is sooner, do still enquire as we may have availability
Do you deliver?
Yes, delivery is charged at £1 per mile round trip, with a £20 minimum
Do you hire cake stands?
No
How many tiers can my cake be?
Cakes can be created in a wide range of tiers from two tiers through to six and seven. Additional cutting cakes are available when a specific visual style or serving number requires extra portions
How many flavours can I have on my cake?
Couples can choose multiple flavours with a different flavour for each tier. Cutting cakes can also be added when more flavours are desired
What are the forms of payment?
Payments are accepted by bank transfer, debit card or cash. A non‑refundable deposit of £100 secures the date, with the remaining balance due four weeks before the wedding

Cakes are delivered across Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Somerset and Surrey

Wonderful !
Cocoa and Whey is owned by the lovely Penny who made a beautiful two tier cake for our first very small wedding celebration, and then made a some exquisite cup cakes for our bigger party celebration. On both occasions Penny was helpful, organised and efficient, and her cakes did not disappoint! They not only looked beautiful but tasted delicious. Highly Recommend in every way!

The most beautiful cake
Penelope was just lovely to work with, she had great ideas and welcomed ours to create a beautiful cake. It really stole the show at the wedding, it was gorgeous and absolutely delicious- we've had lots of comments on how tasty it was. Thank you Penelope!

Our cake was exactly what we hoped for
The service from Cocoa & Whey from start to finish was incredible. Our tasters were absolutely delicious, our planning meetings, and email contact was all very professional, clear and we ended up with exactly the cake that we wanted. Penelope even created a sugar figurine of our dog eating a piece of the cake for a personal touch. When speaking to people after the wedding everyone agreed that it was one of the best pieces of cake they had ever eaten!

Stunning Cake!
We were absolutely blown away by our wedding cake, made by Penelope. It was everything we dreamed of and tasted incredible.
Penelope was very happy to consult with us a number of times to get the design we really wanted, and all the designs she created for us were amazing. She also created two dairy free cupcakes for our children so that they could be included, which really meant a lot to us.

Thank you Cocoa and Whey
Penelope designed and made our beautiful wedding cake. She was very responsive and helped us out with all the decisions we had to make. She even made the whole cake gluten free so my husband could eat any of the tiers. She sent us lots of samples in the lead up, both gluten and gluten free and we couldn’t tell the difference at all! Thank you very much.

Amazing cake!!
Our Wedding cake was perfect. Beyond Perfect. Beyond any expectation. As a gluten intolerant couple, we needed a cake made with non gluten ingredients.
Hand on heart you would not have know it didn't contain gluten. The best cake we have ever eaten. By Far.
Decorations were hand made and exactly what we envisaged.

Perfect!!!
Penelope was such a professional from our very first contact. She was so warm and friendly and went out of her way to listen to our ideas and develop them with us, alongside us. Her communication was excellent, not just with ourselves but also with our venue and other supplies such as the florist. We felt totally confident in her at every stage of planning. The sample cakes were amazing, and we were totally spoilt for choice. The standard of our wedding cake was second to none. All of our guests commented not on just how beautiful it looked but also how amazing the flavours were. We would recommend Cocoa and Whey to anyone looking for the wedding cake of their dreams and we will always remember Penelope for her kindness, her creativity and her professionalism.

Perfect wedding cake
Penelope was the perfect choice for our wedding cake. We had many Teams Calls with Penelope to discuss our cake, flavours and style. From the moment she sketched our semi-naked cake we knew Penelope was making it. From this, Penelope created our wedding favours (Macarons) and incorporated the beautiful butterfly from these to our cake with elegance and style. The cake was dressed to perfection on the day and the taste was divine! We recommend Penelope to everyone for customer service, gorgeous flavours and a stunning wedding cake. Look no further for the best tasting cake ever!
We met Penelope at the Larmer Tree wedding fayre where we immediately fell in love with the delicious cake on offer. We ordered some tasters to our home and were spoilt for choice. We found it almost impossible to choose the flavours for our wedding cake as they were all delicious. After much deliberation we decided to go for a 3 tier cake with vanilla and malt, chocolate orange fudge and milk chocolate praline layers. We had a great video call with Penelope where she helped us get the design and look narrowed down. We wanted to have a a bit of a Cornish theme cut into the side of the cake, which was no problem for Penelope. She sent us great drawings and we chose the design we liked.
The cake was an absolute triumph. The guests absolutely loved it and couldn’t get enough. Everyone told us how delicious it was and were blown away by the 3 different flavours. They loved it so much they asked for more pieces to be cut. It was absolutely perfect and exactly what we wanted.
We are already thinking of excuses to celebrate something so we can order Cocoa and Whey cake. We will definitely be returning customers. Thank you again Penelope!
