Lucho Bakes is one of the most popular bakeries in North Devon, offering wedding and celebration cakes. Born as a one-guy operation during a mental health breakdown back in 2021, baking from home, he expanded to a big unit in the beautiful Venn Valley Winery, Landkey. Venn Valley is a vineyard that won a bronze in the Decanter World Wine Awards, the biggest world wine competition. Venn Valley hosts many artisans in their units. He joined forces with his partner Luna to drive the business forward back in 2023. They are now a team of four, including a Portuguese head pastry chef with a lot of experience in weddings and cakes, and another part-time baker. They provide bread and pastries to many wholesalers around the area, and they have a permanent pitch in South Molton Market, where they are extremely popular.
They strive for quality, they use organic ingredients as much as they can, they also get all their fruits and eggs from South Molton Market, the organic milk they use is also local from Croyde.
They are dedicated to creating your perfect cake for your big day, which will include a lot of communication to understand your needs and vision. If there's something that they feel isn't right for your cake, they'll let you know straight away.
They can also tailor different desserts, pastries, coquembouche, macarons, cupcakes.
They can make your wedding a vert special one and they are looking forward to hearing from you.

Meet the team
Hi, I´m Lucho, I started the business and I own, alongside my partner in life and business, Luna, Lucho Bakes.
I´m originally from Argentina, half Spanish and I lived in UK for 11 years now, and I really love my life here.
I´m also the head baker and I´m behind all the admin side of the business.
I´m always thinking about how to grow the business, what new ideas we could bring onboard.
At this point in the bakery I´m more involved on the pastry side of it, but overlook and troubleshoot everything that happens with the rest of things we do.
I´m very passionate about what I do, before bread I was an NHS worker that went through covid times working for the system and couldn't handle it anymore. It was a mental health sick leave that made me start to bake and I fell in love with it, and it saved me.
I love working with quality ingredients, our flours are all stoneground organic, and many of them are local to South West England, I have a strong connection with farmers and millers.
I´m also an important member of a big community of bakers worldwide, giving me access to some of the best bakers you can find, learning a lot from them,
I´ll be very honoured to be a part of your big day.
Hi, I´m Luna, co owner of the bakery.
I´m Spanish but I have been living in Uk for 10 years.
Trained as a beauty therapist, worked for the NHS for more than 7 years.
I always loved cooking and feeding my loved ones and started helping Lucho with a few bits.
I came fully onboard after Lucho had a nasty accident and couldn´t bake for 3 months, since then I learnt all about bread and today I´m in charge of bread production.
Our speciality is Sourdough bread using local flours keeping close contanct with the farmers and the millers.
We try to use organic products and colaborate with our fellow traders in the markets and our locan butcher.
Art has been always my passion and I try to apply my knowledge to any source I can, like decorating pastries and helping on cake decorations.
Hi, I´m Meg.
Keen forager and student medical herbalist, I love to bake with foraged ingredients in my free time, encorporating unusual flavours and combinations. I´m a firm believer that food is medicine!
I joined the Lucho Bakes team 2 years ago, and since then I´ve really levelled up my baking skills to include bread production, as well as pastries, cakes and everything in between!
