Tudor Barn Eltham is an idyllic, exclusive use wedding venue located in Greenwich, England. This South East London hidden gem is nestled on 13 acres of exquisite parkland and overlooks a medieval moat. It provides a serene, scenic, and secluded backdrop for your celebration while remaining conveniently accessible to the amenities and attractions of Central London. Only 20 minutes from the city centre, the barn is one of only a few genuine Tudor Barns still standing today. It is all that is left of the country mansion that William Roper built for Margaret Moore in 1525. Its romantic origin story will serve to highlight your own happily ever after as you dine and dance the night away.

Facilities and Capacity

Weddings at Tudor Barn Eltham are held in the stunning Tudor Gallery, which features original beams and breathtaking stained glass windows. In the warmer summer months, you can also take advantage of several delightful outdoor spaces. These include the Moat Terrace and Tudor Lawn. The venue has a capacity of 160 seated during the day and 200 standing for the evening reception.

    Stunning Wedding Venue

    We recently had our wedding reception at the Tudor Barn (18.09.2021) and every element of our day was absolutely perfect. Suzie was so helpful, right from the start of wedding planning and made us feel so at ease with everything.

    Even the companies recommended to us were lovely; we literally cannot thank you enough for the help and suggestions giving, and just making our day pure perfection.

    The venue is such a lovely place, with beautiful surroundings. It really is the perfect place for a country feel, when you live in the city!
    Also, the food served was absolutely delicious. We do have a few super fussy eaters and we were able to get everyone catered for!

    All the staff that work at the Tudor Barn are literally amazing. All so polite and friendly, literally nothing was too much trouble. We have wheelchair users in the family and the staff were so caring and made them feel safe in getting up and down the stairs.

    I could literally sing the Tudor Barns praises all day long. We had the most special day and a big chunk of it is thanks to EVERYONE at the Tudor Barn! 100% would recommend to everyone.

    Perfectly Professional

    Suzie and the team went above and beyond to ensure that our guests saw a day that went completely to plan. Behind the scenes, we had been let down by our florist and on the day itself our cake wasn't delivered. Despite these challenges, the team did an incredible job at decorating the venue with the flowers we were able to source the day before and even managed to get a cake so we could do the obligatory photos. We cannot thank the team enough for all of their hard work.

    A blissful space and outdoor setting for a wedding!

    There dining service is amazing and you have so much freedom of space to move around. A lot of lovely natural light beaming through, where you can see the pond area outside.
    As a filmmaker, I enjoy shooting wedding her, because you have that lovely scenery, tucked behind the venue, that is great for bride and groom shoots and family gatherings. I can't recommend this place enough. Always kept tidy and beautiful.

    Incredible day and venue team

    The team at the Tudor Barn were extremely accommodating and were incredibly helpful especially planning throughout a pandemic. On the day everything was smooth, the staff were friendly and provided incredible service in all aspects. The security team in the evening deserve their own shout out, Sandra on the door ensured guests that were leaving made it to their taxis safely and updated us at the end of the evening.

    The food was great, and the atmosphere throughout the day was amazing, guests all spoke about how the Barn is such a lovely venue and I couldn't recommend it more

    My favourite day ever

    A wonderful wedding venue. Beautiful surroundings gorgeous food. They couldn’t do enough for us throughout the day.

    Not what we had wished for..

    I'm not usually one to write a review, specifically a negative one however, I feel so strongly that the wedding both me and my husband had hoped for would have been a totally different, and possibly joyful experience had it not been for Suzie Bailey, the 'managing director'. My husband and I first visited the venue back in February 2020, right before the global pandemic, the staff on greeting were lovely and absolutely sold the venue and it was everything we wanted, however, it all seemed to go downhill once Suzie had got involved. Throughout the whole process Suzie was condescending and rude. We understand the pandemic hit everyone and venues struggled immensely however we had to fight to change our date with Suzie as we were left in the lurch for a long period of time not knowing what we could do. Suzie’s manner and attitude towards us was dismissive and patronising, and when asking questions regarding the day, rather than giving us options and choices we were hit back with ‘well what do you want?’. Rather than there is an option of x y or z.

    There were a number of occasions when Suzie had told me something on a phone call and then when asking her to clarify in person saying ‘I didn’t tell you that’.

    Fast forward to the day of the wedding, we were told that we had to wear face coverings during the ceremony (no fault of their own, this was a decision made by the registrars), however, this decision was changed for the day and thankfully we didn’t have to wear them. I had also been told over the phone on 2 occasions that unless all of our guests (including ourselves) had a negative covid test or a covid vaccination passport we WOULD NOT be able to enter the venue. So..me and my husband absolutely made sure people knew this and sent out side notes with our invitations (which had an additional cost) to ensure no one was left unable to attend. I am more than aware that government rules had changed and were constantly changing overnight, but rather than saying ‘oh sorry, I wasn’t sure on the situation until today’, I was told ‘I didn’t tell you that’. When I questioned the response I was again shut down with ‘no I didn’t’. Suzie then made a comment to my mother on the day of the wedding, regarding the face covering situation saying ‘now you have got what you wanted’ and walked away. I do need to mention, the mask situation and/or covid testing was never an issue with any of my party or my husbands, and my mother was left feeling very upset and taken aback by such a snide comment.

    From what we believed Suzie was there to run the wedding day, giving guests timings and making people comfortable and in the knowing of what was going on throughout the day. After the snide comment to my mother I didn’t see Suzie at all and there was another lady (who I cannot thank enough for how wonderful and friendly she was, named Amelie I believe).

    Prior to the day, I had made Suzie aware that I was having my flowers dropped off at the venue in order for us all to collect when we arrived, the lack of professionalism and knowledge of the day, from the staff, meant my dad was not given his button hole. The issue I found with the venue and staff was that there was no one running the event, people were left around wondering what was happening next and I had to ask on many occasions what was happening, dinner took over 2 hours without an indication of the following timings until the DJ arrived and he could then announced the speeches.

    Overall, I feel ultimately let down by the venue and the day was really not as special as my husband and I had hoped. I do genuinely believe if Suzie had a more friendly and personable bedside manner, our whole experience would have been completely different and neither me or my husband would feel disappointed.

    Dear Hollie

    Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry that you felt the wedding was not how you had hopped for and that you felt the need to write a negative review rather than speak directly to us about your concerns.

    In March 2020 we were, like many venues, ordered to shut down and could not host any further weddings or events. All the staff were either furloughed or let go, and as the owner of the business, it was left to Suzie to manage the 175 couples who were booked in with us. It was an extremely difficult time for both the business, and our clients, and there were many distressed couples, such as yourselves, with weddings that could not go ahead and had to be moved. The long periods of silence between phone calls and emails were simply because the company had no information to share with our clients, until the government had made their announcements.

    Many couples were asking what their wedding would look like if they could go ahead once we were allowed to reopen; again, it was extremely difficult to inform our clients of the facts when the government would only published guidelines one week before the key dates. As guidelines were published Suzie was very clear with all clients what would happen at their events and followed verbal conversations up in writing. It was therefore surprising to hear that you had asked your guests to be vaccinated when this was not a legal requirement of the UK government prior to or at the time of your wedding. At all times Suzie was acting in your best interest and was simply trying to answer your questions in an ever changing, tense and difficult situation.

    I also understand that you were very upset to hear that the Registrars were asking guests to wear face coverings over the ceremony when it was no longer a legal requirement. I know that Suzie went out of her way to speak to the registrar’s personally on your behalf to ask them to relax the rules as she could see how upset you were about this; therefore, the comment about her going up to your parents making snide remarks about getting what you wanted is completely unfounded and factually incorrect. Being the owner of one of the most successful weddings venues in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It would therefore not be in her interest to be rude and patronizing to clients when it is ultimately her business that would suffer.

    Suzie also hosts the final meetings with all our clients to go through the details of their weddings which is then handed over to the events team so that they can deliver the event on the day. A document is created and shared with the clients, who at any time, can access this live document and make changes or view what has been discussed or arranged. Having checked the times of your event I am happy to state that your event, as per your function sheet, ran on time with no notes of delays to the food service, speeches, cake cutting or first dance. I am pleased to hear that our events team were on hand and that Amelie (our Event Manager and the person responsible for delivering the events) was well received on the day.

    A 50/50 experience!

    I got married on the 4th May 2019, my day was absolutely amazing and I could not fault the organisation and efficiency of the staff members. Unfortunately problems started as soon as the evening came! I didn’t pay for exclusive use of the whole barn so I expected that there may be some punters visiting what I did not expect and was not made of aware of is that the venue booked ANOTHER WEDDING Reception. Imagine spending all that money to share your night with another bride ! I was appalled that the venue did not even bother to make me aware ! They obviously knew they were doing something wrong ! Our DJ ( supplied by venue) was rude, didn’t play half of my requested songs and the system kept on cutting off and decided to blame my guests for being too loud!! I of course raised these points with the venue but the manager didn’t have much sympathy or even offered some sort of reimbursement. I loved this venue and nothing can take away marrying my husband but unfortunately it has left a sour note with me.

    Loved our wedding here!

    The whole process of finding the perfect venue was so easy with Tudor Barn, their price list is very clear and communication was attentive from the start. We knew what could be provided by the venue and what we could organise and bring in ourselves. They were very accommodating to all our requests and never made us feel restricted to plan our perfect wedding day! On the day the staff were always available and helping to usher guests along. They seemlessly worked with all the vendors we hired and set them up according to our drawn up plans. Honestly can’t thank them enough for making our special day even more special!

    Excellent Service

    We had a fantastic wedding here in 2016, Mikala was excellent at giving us ideas that’s worked perfect for our special day to accommodate guests with special diets and disabilities. The venue was set up inside and out beautifully.

    Wedding in 2011

    Had an amazing wedding here in 2011… the only downside was we didn’t remember trying the actual dish that was served on the day at out taster but it was still delicious!
    Plus the security team at the evening event were way too aggressive… this was recognised by the staff though who ceased using the team and gave a full refund on the security staff that we paid for!
    I believe it was teething problems early in the business…
    Everybody who came to the wedding we’re amazed and my wedding was the talk of the town for months on end… I would still definitely recommend though.

    Amazing Wedding

    We just had our wedding at The Tudor Barn this weekend, it was amazing it's beautiful but what really made it was the staff. From our first meeting with Beth to planning with Leah then Arena and the rest of the staff on the day they were all amazing so friendly, professional and so organised ensuring everything ran smoothly they went above and beyond. In the lead up, and on the day itself, every employee went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. Not only this; the venue is stunning and the food also fantastic!

    Perfect Venue

    Leah and the team at Tudor Barn worked tirelessly from the very first minute to the very last to make the whole day run as smoothly as possible, make everyone feel relaxed and able to enjoy the day. The entire process from taking the initial tour with Aimee, through to picking up decorations the day after the wedding was made incredibly easy, taking all the pressure off of the Bride and Groom.

    All of the guests commented how amazing the Barn itself was as a venue, how good the food was and how welcoming the team were. We could not have asked for more. Thank you for all your help in making our day perfect.
