Exclusive use. Up to 180 day guests and 200 evening guests. A genuine 1525 Tudor barn in thirteen acres of moated London parkland - not a hotel function room dressed up to look historic, not a barn conversion, the real thing. Tudor Barn Eltham is the only surviving Tudor barn in London, and one of the most unusual wedding venues you'll find in the capital.
Three ceremony settings come as standard: the Tudor Gallery's main hall, seating up to 180 guests facing a dressed curtain backdrop; its more intimate fireplace end, for ceremonies of 90 or fewer; or an outdoor ceremony on the front lawn, licensed for up to 180 guests between April and September. Wedding breakfasts seat 180 for a plated meal or 160 buffet-style, with the room reconfiguring for up to 200 guests once evening guests arrive.
The barn itself dates to 1525, built for William Roper and his wife Margaret More, daughter of Sir Thomas More, Henry VIII's Lord Chancellor. The surrounding estate later became home to Edith Nesbit, who wrote The Railway Children here between 1899 and 1921. It's Grade II* listed, and it shows: original oak beams, a working medieval moat, and grounds that include rose gardens, fountains, and a stone bridge - the kind of setting that does most of the work for your photographer before they've even set up.
A dedicated event manager is assigned to your wedding from enquiry through to the day itself, and our wedding fairs and private viewings run throughout the year if you'd like to see the space before committing.

You and your guests have the run of our Grade II* listed Tudor barn in the Royal Borough of Greenwich from 10am for supplier set up right through to midnight for your evening reception.

Where can we hold our wedding ceremony at Tudor Barn Eltham?
You can choose from three beautiful ceremony settings at Tudor Barn Eltham. Inside our historic Tudor Gallery you can marry at the intimate fireplace end for up to 90 guests, or in the stunning Tudor Gallery for ceremonies up to 180. Tudor Barn Eltham provides most wedding catering in house, with options such as traditional three course wedding breakfasts, BBQ buffets, hog roasts, food stations and evening snacks. For specialist cuisines we do not offer ourselves, for example Caribbean, African, Asian or kosher menus, our semi dry hire option lets you bring in a caterer from our approved list, giving you full control over your menu while our team looks after the venue, bar and service. This means you can enjoy authentic cultural catering from trusted suppliers, without losing the support of our experienced events team or the charm of our historic Tudor setting in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Do you provide wedding DJs and evening entertainment?
Yes, our entertainment team, Staar Productions, can arrange talented in-house DJs, dance floors, photo booths, illuminated love letters and much more for your evening reception. This means you can keep everything under one roof at Tudor Barn Eltham, from ceremony and wedding breakfast through to evening party.
Is there outdoor space for drinks receptions and wedding photos?
Tudor Barn Eltham offers extensive outdoor space, including the Front Lawn, rose gardens, fountains, medieval bridges and the moat for drinks receptions and photography. How do we book a wedding viewing at Tudor Barn Eltham?

Do we need to give notice to the register office?

Is Tudor Barn Eltham easy to reach for London and Kent wedding guests?
Yes, our Tudor wedding venue in Greenwich is just five minutes from Eltham Station, with fast trains to London Bridge and good links across South East London and Kent. Parking is available along Kidbrooke Lane, SE9 6TE, close to the venue. In addition, our own private car park for up to 30 cars is available to hire for the day, which is ideal if you would like reserved spaces for your wedding party and key guests.

We couldn’t have had a better day!
The venue itself is beautiful, with gorgeous surroundings that provide plenty of perfect photo opportunities. There are some limitations on what decorations you can bring in, but the venue is honestly already so beautifully decorated that this wasn’t an issue for us at all.
The food was fantastic - really tasty and generous portions. One small but significant detail we really appreciated was that the food was hot and served to everyone at the table at the same time, which isn’t always the case when catering for children or guests with allergies.
The DJ from Staar was also brilliant, getting the atmosphere just right and keeping everyone dancing well into the evening, and likewise Staar were really helpful in coordinating with our illustrator.
Accessibility was an important consideration for us, so we wanted to mention this for anyone in a similar position. The ceremony and reception are upstairs, and due to the venue’s listed status, there are understandably some limitations. The venue has a stair climber, operated by staff, to help guests get upstairs and back down. The only accessible toilet is outside, so you would need to use the stair climber anytime you needed to use it. Thankfully, our guest has some mobility and was able to use the toilets upstairs.
Given the age and listed status of the building, we think what the venue has been able to provide is pretty good so just something worth being aware of. Our guest who used the stair climber said it was very smooth, and any initial nerves they might have had were completely put at ease by the staff.
We can’t thank the whole team enough for making our day so perfect. All of our guests commented on how relaxed, enjoyable and well-run the day was, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the venue and looking forward to coming back for lunch sometime! G&A
Highly recommended, lovely staff, great location
From the beginning, the event manager was incredibly helpful, responsive, and supportive. As the venue is a listed building, there are understandably some restrictions around set-up, so good communication with the venue is important. However, they provided plenty of guidance throughout the planning process, which made everything much easier and gave us peace of mind.
The venue itself is beautiful, and there are so many lovely features and surrounding areas that work perfectly for wedding photos. We were able to get some really special photos without needing to go far from the venue. Also this is easily access by public transport.
On the wedding day, all the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. One thing that really stood out to us was how well they looked after the tables throughout the evening. They managed to tidy and clear things while being very considerate of the dancing and making sure they didn’t interrupt the atmosphere. Our guests actually mentioned to us afterwards how lovely and attentive the staff were, which meant so much to us. Knowing that our guests felt well looked after made us feel that we had chosen the right venue.
For the DJ, as the venue works with an in-house DJ, we decided to go with their option. Our playlist was mostly made up of non-English songs, so we were initially a little unsure how it would work. However, we were genuinely impressed by how well the DJ rearranged the songs and read the atmosphere. The music really helped build the energy throughout the evening, and our guests had such a great time dancing.
The food was another pleasant surprise. The portions were very generous and, most importantly, everything tasted really good. We felt that our guests were very well fed, and the food exceeded our expectations.
Overall, we feel that this venue offered fantastic value for money and exceeded what we expected. We would definitely recommend it to couples who may not have a huge wedding budget but still want a beautiful, cosy and decent venue with great service. The helpful team, attentive staff, good food, lovely surroundings and enjoyable atmosphere all contributed to making our wedding day so special.

Couldn’t Have Picked a More Perfect Place
Everything about the venue made our wedding feel incredibly special, and it was exactly the atmosphere we had hoped for. We received so many lovely comments from our guests about how beautiful the barn and surroundings were (the pleausance it resides in remains open to the public but it is peaceful and an amazing place for pictures).
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, they were very accommodating for everything we wanted, even last minute adjustments (Thank you Georgia and the team!)

We recommend booking one of their Showcase evenings as this is where we saw the venue come to life🥰 We met Jade who is fantastic - I wished she could have planned our entire day as she just got our vision during the showcase evening!
The planning side was relatively easy but what I would say is double check with the venue what you can/cannot have there as this was not always clear when planning with Suzie, so please check to avoid any disappointment.
Fast forward to our special day which was made truly magical - and very hot due to the heatwave!! We were very lucky to have the lovely Georgia host our wedding and we were so thankful for her and the team! Georgia is so lovely! Everything ran smoothly and we did not have to worry about anything on the day! The whole team working that day were simply wonderful and we could not thank them enough!✨

The team, specifically Georgia and Amelia, are kind, understanding and so helpful and open to what we as a couple would like. We felt comfortable to let them know what we wanted for the day and felt listened to. We also appreciated all the knowledge that the management share with you. During the check in meetings they are doing their best to make sure you are all organized and have thought of everything for the big day. On the big day all the wait staff were helpful and professional.
We had nothing but rave reviews from our guests saying they loved the barn, the chicken for dinner and how organized the whole day went!

The venue DJ was also great, We had both English and Greek music and he mixed all of our different requests really well into the night.
