Great venue with fantastic customer experience

We had been looking for a venue for a sit down meal after our wedding for about 20 people and the White Swan had the perfect sized room for us. The team at the venue were fantastic - we came a few months before to visit and see what spaces were available, the team were really helpful and gave us a tour. The room we picked was beautiful and had lots of character. There were a range of different menu choices which were great. The team at the White swan were fantastic in the run up to the event and this advanced organisation showed on the day - as everything was absolutely seamless.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a venue space for any large dinners.

The perfect day!

We booked the white swan for our wedding breakfast and reception in May and couldn’t fault it!
Simon, Gemma and all of the team were so responsive and helpful throughout the whole process from booking over a year in advance, to the big day.
We had so much freedom and choice, which I know you don’t get everywhere.
The room was so perfect on its own, we didn’t feel we needed to go over the top with decor!
We had a party of 35 for the wedding breakfast, all having 3 courses and everyone was able to choose exactly what they wanted from a great menu. We had so many compliments on the menu choices and how good the food was on the day. The team were like a well oiled machine when serving the food, which was lovely to see.
In the evening, the room was quickly changed over to make space for the DJ and dance floor.
We had an extra 35 evening guest and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out.
It was a warm day, so having the French doors leading onto the courtyard was perfect! It meant guest could sit outside and chat away from the music.
We had 12 rooms booked in total at the hotel and they were perfect! So spacious and everyone was happy. The only thing to note was we were told hotel guests could stay up drinking in the bar till they wish. It was a selling point for us and some of the guest staying over, unfortunately this wasn’t the case and at about 1/2am we all had to retire to our rooms.
If I could do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thank you again to Simon and the team!

Amazing intimate wedding venue with great service and fab food

We had our wedding lunch and the afternoon in the montague room at the white swan.
The communication from the very beginning stood out and we knew from the first conversation it was the right place for us. We were only having a small wedding (20 people) but the team still made it feel extra special.

The flexibility that they offered with food and drinks was amazing! Catered to everyone and it was truly enjoyed by all.

We would 100% recommend the white swan for anyone planning a special occasion, we had a perfect wedding day and a lovely night stay.
Thank you so much.

Beautiful Spot with Hits and Misses

We got married in October 2024 at the White Swan Hotel. We live in the US and stayed at the hotel in March 2022 and decided to have an abroad wedding. I'm a type-A and planned a lot of details and provided Simon, our main contact, with a lot of breakdowns and information. We emailed and had a couple Zoom calls however it was hit or miss getting someone on the phone even though I calculated it for the 6 hour time difference. The pros were the hotel was beautiful and the staff and food were wonderful. The maintenance man on staff (Mr Turpin) was incredibly helpful. Unfortunately there were a ton of hiccups. Since we had a DJ, you're required to secure the 10 rooms above the reception room. Coordinating that was so incredibly frustrating as we weren't given guidance on how to handle, only that we had to prepay for the rooms and connect the coordinator and the guests in those rooms. Since all of those guests were coming in 1-2 days beforehand, I made sure to connect the guests and coordinator to handle payments for the 1-2 days prior. All of those guests had issues trying to pay or get a hold of the coordinator and some got charged when they clicked on a payment link while others didn't get charged until they checked in. Our main person, Simon, fell ill and everything was supposedly passed down to his assistant. I had several back and forths the DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING about how we suddenly had to pay for our late night food despite us being told it was included in our package. That added more stress on me the night before. Ordering our food weeks prior was a bit of a mess since their online system was confusing. I ended up sending a spreadsheet. On the day of our wedding, there were several issues: no drink signs (which Simon was going to create but since he had the flu I thought maybe someone else was handling), whomever opened the door when I walked into the room closed it on my dress and veil, waitstaff were walking by me in the hallway with dirty dishes and made me nervous something might fall on my dress, some of our decor that the florist and stylist dropped off were shoved in a corner and never brought out when the room changed over, the area that was to be set aside had no signs once cocktail hour started and when I finally saw a sign, it mentioned private event (no mention that it was for our wedding and I saw several guests scattered throughout the pub not knowing where to go), dinner took at least an additional 1.5 hours due to the "pub being full" thus causing a ripple effect and only allowing us to have our 3 planned dances and maybe 45 minutes of dancing. In addition to that ripple effect, people who had recently eaten dinner now had late night food out right away. I had asked staff if they had takeaway boxes for us to bring the food up to our rooms but they didn't have anything to accommodate us and thus wasted food. There were only several pieces of cake put out after our cake cutting. I was told the staff had taken it back to enjoy it, which was a surprise to me since we spent a lot of money on a cake we barely saw put out. Whomever wrapped the remainder of the cake didn't give us the top half of the cake and what remained was wrapped in plastic wrap, thus being incredibly hard to transport to our next destination. The assistant who we had been talking to throughout this entire process with Simon wasn't even there and (I believe) the pub manager was put in charge. She was incredibly kind and I know overwhelmed and we definitely want to thank her and the rest of the staff that served us throughout the night. We did have a beautiful time and enjoyed the hotel (it is gorgeous and well kept) and the food and drinks were outstanding. I think we had a great group of vendors surrounding us that helped make the day special.

Outstanding service!

We fell in love with the White Swan, and planned the rest of our wedding around the use of their gorgeous rooms.

The package that the venue offers is incredibly good value. Unlike other venues we approached, the costs were all upfront. We found some places give you a price, but then actually there's additional charges for table linen. At the White Swan it's all included. Louise even put together a seating plan and name plates for the table, which gave us one less thing to worry about.

We chose not to decorate the function rooms, as we felt they existing decor was enough. And with the candelabras on the table it was an impressive sight.

The food package is very generous. We had so many guests say they've never been so well fed at a wedding! And it was all fantastic quality. The service on the day was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.

All in all we're so happy with our experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, and know that in no small part that's down to the efforts of Louise and her colleagues ensuring that everything was in hand, and all we had left to do was enjoy it. Thank you so much!"

Outstanding service

We got married at the White Swan on the 7th of February 2009. From the very 1st time we went in to look at the venue, the general manager Mr Ali Kocu, made us feel very welcome. He seemed to go very much out of his way to make our day very special. Everyone hopes their wedding day will be perfect, ours was not because the staff at the white swan made it far better than perfect. Ali and wedding coordinator Anne went way beyond what we expected. We had the ceremony in the Shakespeare room, which looked absolutly fantastic. All of our guests were made to feel very welcome by all of the staff. We would recommend this venue to anyone. We had a wedding that people thought was seriously expensive at a very reasonable cost. I cannot thank Ali and his staff enough for the day of our lives. Thank you

Great winter wedding

We were due to marry in August but due to personal circumstances had to delay the wedding. The White Swan were excellent in accommodating all of our requests at short notice and we would recommend them.
