The Grand Hotel, Tynemouth located in the picturesque coastal village of Tynemouth, set upon a cliffside only a stone’s throw from Longsands award-winning beach. Once a Summer residence for royalty, or rumour would have it, today a landmark hotel and a staple of Tynemouth.

Our hotel will be changing in 2026; we say goodbye to our biggest function suite The Orchid and say hello to 6 brand new Seaview bedrooms. The best view in Tynemouth with an extra 2 family suites.

Facilities and Capacity

2025/26 The Grand Hotel holds a civil wedding licence and offers you the convenience of having your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception all under one roof. The local registrar is able to perform your civil wedding ceremony in the beautiful Pearl Room.

The sophisticated roof terrace is now available for your canapes and drinks reception in the sun. With an outdoor bar, sound system, comfortable seating areas and outdoor firepits, it's ideally suited to your wedding photographs and reception drinks. Wedding breakfast can now be held in the newly refurbished Brasserie Suite capacity of 80, with stunning views overlooking Longsands.

Our evening reception room the Grand Chambers capacity of 150 can be found on the basement level of the hotel. A perfect space for an evening reception, dancefloor, DJ and your dancing feet. Enjoy the comforts of having your guests in one self-contained area, with full functioning bar, facilities and outdoor space.

2027 The Grand hotel will transform yet again, to create a more inviting creative space for our clients and leisure guests. From 2027 we will only be offering Ceremony and Wedding Breakfasts, we advise speaking with Crusoe’s for your evening reception a perfect end to the day watching the sunset on the shoreline.

Their attention to detail is second to none, from enquiry to planning to ensuring everything is just right on your special day. The in-house chef has personally created a delicious selection of menus for your wedding breakfast. You can choose from a selection of dining options, from a relaxed buffet to a classic seated meal. There's also a DJ that will be on hand to help you entertain guests and dance the night away.
