At the top of the beautiful Tarset valley in Northumberland, The Comb is a stunning setting to create the relaxed wedding of your dreams. This late 1700’s converted stone border farm has 60 acres of land surrounded by the hills, forest, rivers, burns and moors of Northumberland National Park.
You have exclusive use of The Comb for the entire weekend with capacity for both intimate weddings or larger celebrations of up to 250 guests. The bar is large and spacious with a terrace and our license also covers all the grounds including our large dark skies barn. Accommodation for 20 of your wedding party is included plus use of all the facilities.
We don't charge corkage or insist on the use of our caterers, we can deliver a complete event or whichever aspects you wish. The Comb not a full-time wedding venue and we only host a finite number of weddings per year, this keeps everything fresh and allows your wedding to be genuinely unique and special. We guarantee you won't be bumping into another bride!
With views in every direction, the photographer is spoiled for choice, this is also the heart of the Northumberland Dark Skies, so what about the Milky Way as a backdrop!
The dark sky barn can cater for up to 250 and the internal space is adjustable to make it perfect for your numbers. With a licensed bar and a stage for live bands it, together the main building and the grounds create a unique ambient venue. As the sun sets over Sidwood, the stars light the heavens and you can celebrate and dancie into the night without fear of premature endings. We have neighbours but they are mostly deer, owls and foxes!
This a land from a time gone by, a rustic setting to not only create a memorable wedding but also an unforgetable weekend event. What about a torchlit supper under the stars the night before or a BBQ lunch in the grounds the day after? Why not start your big day with a relaxed social breakfast? Release the grooms pre-wedding nervous energy with a wedding morning clay pigeon shoot or game of golf followed by an ushers/ groomsman lunch by the fire in the Hollybush Inn.
While The Comb is set among a truly lovely wilderness it is only 40 minutes from Newcastle Airport and under an hour to Newcastle station. The train from London to Newcastle is less than 3 hours and Edinburgh is around 2 hours drive to the centre of the city. There is a variety of accommodation for your guests nearby or the adventurous are welcome to camp in the grounds. More on-site accommodation will become available during 2018.
