At the top of the beautiful Tarset valley in Northumberland is The Comb, a stunning setting to create the relaxed wedding of your dreams. This late 1700s converted stone border farm has 60 acres of land surrounded by the hills, forest, rivers, burns and moors of Northumberland National Park.
You have exclusive use of The Comb for the entire weekend with capacity for both intimate weddings or larger celebrations of up to 250 guests (150 dining) in the dark skies barn. Accommodation for 20 of your wedding party is included plus use of all the facilities.
The Comb is not a full-time wedding venue and we only host a finite number of weddings per year, this keeps everything fresh and allows your wedding to be genuinely unique and special. We guarantee you won't be bumping into another bride!
You select the caterers and food to suit your taste with no packages to restrict your choice and erode your budget. Our experienced staff will work out drinks with you to suit your taste and budget. Our licensed bar has a full range of drinks for your wedding day and evening.
With views in every direction, the photographer is spoiled for choice, this is also the heart of the Northumberland Dark Skies, so what about the Milky Way as a backdrop!
The dark sky barn can seat up to 150 to dine and up to 250 for a party. With a licensed bar, dancefloor, stage for live bands, food preparation room and toilets it has all the facilities required. Tables, tablecloths, chairs, cultery and glasses are supplied for up to 90 with additional capacity available through hiring.
As the sun sets over Sidwood, the stars light the heavens and you can celebrate and dance into the night without fear of having to end the fun early. We have neighbours but they are mostly deer, owls and foxes!
This a land from a time gone by, a rustic setting to not only create a memorable wedding but also an unforgettable weekend/midweek event. What about a torchlit supper under the stars or BBQ the night before? Why not start your big day with a relaxed social breakfast? Release the grooms pre-wedding nervous energy with a wedding morning spent clay pigeon shoot or playing a game of golf followed by an ushers/ groomsman lunch by the fire in the Hollybush Inn.
While The Comb is set among a truly lovely wilderness it is only 40 minutes from Newcastle Airport and under an hour to Newcastle station. The train from London to Newcastle is less than 3 hours and Edinburgh is around 2 hours drive to the centre of the city. There is a variety of accommodation for your guests nearby or the adventurous are welcome to camp in the grounds. More on-site accommodation will become available during 2018.

Well beyond the call of duty
The wedding of my daughter was last weekend (10th August) the weather was atrocious, Pat, Sarah and staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, Pat rounded up the locals to get as many guests to the venue as possible, Sarah was giving alternative directions, staff were being so supportive. Due to all their efforts what could have been a disaster turned out to be a brilliant day. The venue is superb with everything you need plus more. The barn is totally amazing and has to be seen to be believed!
