Located in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, St Mary’s by the Tyne formally St Mary's Heritage Centre is a grade I listed building and a stunning wedding venue steeped in history dating back to the 12th Century. It sits on the banks of the River Tyne in the shadow of the iconic Tyne Bridge, affording exceptional views of Newcastle and Gateshead.

The venue has recently been taken over by the Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust, who are excited to welcome back weddings and events to this prestigious building. Because of its central location, it has excellent transport links, and many hotels and other accommodation are nearby for your guests. However, because of its private walled aspect, you can enjoy a city centre location without the hustle and bustle of the city.

St Mary’s can seat up to 240 guests and offers the opportunity to create your own unique bespoke wedding using your own suppliers and our in-house bar supplier.

You will have exclusive hire from Friday until Sunday to allow you time to set up St Mary’s exactly how you want it and create your perfect day. We can also offer shorter hire periods and mid-week hire on request.
