A truly beautiful venue

Our wedding took place in February this year and it really was one of the best days our our lives!

We were wed in the Whittaker Room (former chapel), then moved through to the Parlour for the drinks reception, and then finally to the Great Hall (showstopper!) for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. The flow of the event and how everything was turned around so seamlessly was truly fantastic.

The food and drinks were delicious, high quality and well presented. The team at Samlesbury were warm, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful throughout the planning process up to the day itself.

We visited Samlesbury Hall as our first wedding venue on our list, and we didn't need to visit any others. As soon as we drove down the lane and saw the imposing exterior and gorgeous medieval interior, we knew it was the place for us.

Special shout out to Chester, Rebecca & Naomi, but also everyone else in the team that was part of making our wedding day so very special. We have some amazing memories and look forward to visiting for many years to come.

My dream venue

This was my dream venue and Samlesbury helped us bring our vision to life! The whole team were so lovely and friendly from our first viewing to the support on the day!

We did our own decor and the team were attentive and set it up perfectly! Then they packed it all down for us to collect the morning after!

The add ons like lawn games, crisp wall, sweetie cart were just the cherry on top!

The food was really good quality and everyone loved it!

We got to stay in the Gatehouse the night before and the night of, and it made such a big difference knowing that we had somewhere to get ready in the morning that was on site and didn't have to travel to and from the venue.

As it was a listed building, there are some things that cannot be done, which would be something to keep in mind, but that didn't impact our day at all.

If you want a venue with history, character, and an amazing team to bring your dream to life - this is the best!

Perfect venue for our wedding day

My husband and I were over the moon with Samlesbury Hall for our wedding venue! The Hall itself is so beautiful with such a rich history that sparked both our interests, and once we saw the Great Hall we knew that was exactly where we wanted to get married.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful in all the back and forth communication in the leadup to the wedding, any planning questions we had were quickly resolved so by the time we got to the day we felt confident that everything would go smoothly. They always greeted us with smiles whenever we visited the Hall and the whole atmosphere felt very friendly. We communicated the most with our co-ordinator Rebecca, who was always so lovely and helpful any time we called or emailed - it made all the difference being able to have an easy flow of conversation when dealing with all the wedding planning.

On the day itself we received so many compliments from our guests for our choice of venue and also the food (we had Cumberland sausage and mash for our main course in our wedding breakfast and this proved to be a huge hit with everyone!). We all felt very well looked after the whole day and eveining. The Hall also provided the most stunning backdrops for our wedding photos - especially with our alternative style the white/black of the Hall contrasted beautifully with our red/black wedding theme.

The accommodation was another highly appreciated part of our weekend - both the Gatehouse and the Shepherds Huts (where some of our bridal party and evening guests stayed the night before/night of the wedding) were beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the social aspect of the Huts, being able to sit with our friends round the campfire the night before - the perfect leadup to our wedding morning.

Overall we would highly recommend Samlesbury Hall as an ideal wedding venue for any couple wanting a truly memorable day. We certainly can't wait to go back for years to come!

Friday 13th June 2025

My partner and I were married at Samlesbury Hall, and while the venue itself is undeniably beautiful, our overall experience was sadly disappointing due to several avoidable issues that significantly impacted the enjoyment of our day. We chose Samlesbury for its charm and atmosphere, but ultimately felt let down by how many details were either overlooked or poorly communicated.

We spent a lot of time planning our wedding carefully, yet on the day and surrounding it, we encountered a number of problems that could, and should, have been prevented by a more attentive, organised team.

Key issues included:
- Ceremony music: Playlist wasn’t looped, leaving guests in silence before the ceremony.
- Non-alcoholic drinks: Pregnant guest wasn’t offered the alcohol-free prosecco we arranged.
- Glow sticks: Staff misunderstood these were part of our entertainment, used only in final 30 mins.
- Ceremony privacy: Groom saw me walking up from the window, despite being told this wouldn’t happen.
- Parlour access: Room was locked without warning, our photo prop was barely used.
- Bar: Free drinks weren’t communicated to guests, many paid unnecessarily.
- Dietary needs: Dairy-free desserts weren’t set out and weren’t offered unless specifically requested.

When I raised concerns after returning from my honeymoon, I received a defensive reply dismissing nearly every point. The tone lacked empathy, and there was no acknowledgment of the stress and disappointment caused, despite us being polite and constructive in our feedback.

While no wedding day is perfect, the number of miscommunications, lack of flexibility, and passive attitude in the aftermath left us feeling hurt and frustrated. We put our trust in Samlesbury Hall to deliver a smooth and joyful experience and instead spent too much of the day problem-solving.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Samlesbury Hall to future couples unless there are significant changes made to how they manage and support their events. A beautiful building alone is not enough when the service behind it does not meet the expectations of modern weddings.

Best day of our lives!

Samlesbury Hall was the second venue we saw in person and we instantly fell in love with it. The hall and grounds are absolutely beautiful, the team of staff there are amazing, and the food and attention to detail was incredible. We could not be happier with our decision to have our wedding day at the hall. It's unique character and sequence of rooms that mean you have the whole day there from start to finish - with the old chapel for the ceremony, beautiful great hall for the wedding breakfast, relaxing scenery, conveniently placed courtyard and bar, gatehouse and shepherds huts for accommodation - it is the ultimate wedding venue. Our guests loved it - commenting on the wonderfully elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. The communication leading up to and following the wedding was fast and informative. We felt in safe hands every time we touched base with the team both via email and our in person meetings. The friendly nature of all the staff and their ease at delivering brilliant service made the whole day flow smoothly. The one minor issue we had was dealt with quickly with no fuss whatsoever. Honestly nothing could have been better and we are so thankful to the team there!

Wedding 31.08.24

Our journey started with viewing the garden room for our wedding, we then deicided to go and view the hall. We both got goosebumps as soon as we walked in the door. It was then decided that the hall was the venue for us!

From start to finish, Samlesbury Hall has been totally incredible at making our dream day come true. Nothing was too much for them. Everything is very reasonably priced, the building is fantastic with so much history. They catered to all of our dietary requirements, the communication was excellent and we even managed to get the gatehouse the night before. We will cherish the memories forever and will bring our future children to come and visit where their mum and dad got married!

A special thank you to- Leoni, Rebecca, Chester and Elaine for making sure our night ran so smoothly. (Sorry for throwing a wobbly about the wrong playlist haha)

The Perfect Wedding Venue

From the moment we viewed Samlesbury Hall as a possible wedding venue, we fell in love with it. The building was striking, the staff were very accommodating and the fact we'd have exclusive hire of the venue was perfect. The on site accommodation and optional corkage was also an added bonus.
Before our wedding, we were able to have a food tasting with our family and had a few meetings booked in to discuss our wedding plans!
On the day, everyone complimented our choice of venue. It was beautiful. The team at Samlesbury were very attentive throughout the day, they decorated the room as we had discussed and it was so romantic. They made sure everyone was where they should be at the appropriate time and helped manoeuvre guests to the appropriate room when big events such as the first dance / cake cutting begun.
The day ran so seamlessly, our guests even commented on this afterwards!
We'd highly recommend booking Samlesbury Hall as your venue, you'll have an unforgettable experience and your day will run smoothly thanks to an amazing, friendly and professional team!

Lovely venue

Samlesbury Hall was the perfect setting for our small wedding of only 12 people. The wedding team were incredibley responsive and professional so we were able to organise everything in 3 months. The ceremony room was beautiful and we had the wedding breakfast in the heritage cafe which was relaxed but still felt very special. There was hardly any stress on our side as the wedding team did everything to make sure all ran smoothly and we can't thank them enough.

A Fairytale Wedding at Samlesbury Hall - A Day to Remember

Our wedding day at Samlesbury Hall on December 2, 2023, was nothing short of a fairytale. This stunning, black and white medieval house, dating back to 1325, provided a breathtaking backdrop for our special day. Despite the cold, frosty weather, the sun shone brilliantly, adding to the magical atmosphere. The star of our experience was Sharon, our wedding coordinator and manager of the hall. From the very first meeting, her warmth, passion, and dedication were evident. She ensured that every detail was perfect, making us feel that our day was as important to her as it was to us. Her high standards and meticulous attention to detail were mirrored by her team, leaving no room for error. Rebecca, Sharon's second-in-command, was a behind-the-scenes miracle worker. Her seamless orchestration of the day's events made her our guardian angel. Chester, the night manager, was exceptional, especially when he adeptly moved our first dance forward for my husband's grandmother. His attentiveness and care were evident throughout the evening. Special mentions go to Jenny, who was instrumental in the lead-up to the wedding, and Maria, who brought life and laughter to the early morning preparations. Lynn's ever-smiling presence in the office was also greatly appreciated. The food and drink were another highlight. Everything was served promptly, hot, and delicious, with the staff continuously refilling glasses. The venue's facilities, including ample parking and the cozy gatehouse accommodation and on-site huts, added to the overall comfort of our guests and us. What sets Samlesbury Hall apart is its exclusivity on your wedding day, combined with its vibrant daily activities like fairs, cafes, and tours. This means we can revisit and relive our memories, which is a rare feature for wedding venues. In summary, Samlesbury Hall is a venue where the unpredictable English weather doesn't dampen the spirit of a wedding. With its exquisite indoor spaces and stunning outdoor backdrop, it's perfect for any weather conditions. We wholeheartedly recommend Samlesbury Hall to anyone looking for a venue that offers beauty, history, and impeccable service.

A perfect day!

Jenny and the team could not do more for us. They were great in the lead up to it in relation to communication and support with our ideas. Then, on the day everything ran so smoothly. The food was amazing! We had lots of compliments from our guests about how gorgeous and unique the hall was. The grounds are stunning for photos too. Everyone also enjoyed the shepherds hut and breakfast in the cafe in the morning. We honestly had the best day possible at Samlesbury Hall.

Samlesbury Hall Heritage Cafe

After our church ceremony, we used Samlesbury Hall Heritage Cafe for the reception and evening event.
The venue is perfect for small weddings (we had 40 day guests and 70 evening guests in total), with great decorations and beautiful gardens at the back.
The wedding team and the venue were fantastic before, during & after the day. We were very happy and would highly recommend them.

They made our day perfect

Due to the pandemic our original wedding with Samlesbury Hall was cancelled and rebooked, of course we didn't know we'd still be in lockdown by then. With our 30 guest wedding Samlesbury Hall made it the most beautiful, perfect day possible, helping us to still have an amazing outdoor, COVID safe reception. Nothing was too much for them and if you were in those grounds that day, it felt like everything was normal again. I have the most beautiful memories and I can never thank them enough. They are so accommodating, kind, thoughtful and organised. I've put the pricing as what we originally paid, as when the wedding had to be changed we distributed the costs into things like accomodation for everyone and a donation to the Hall rather than accepting the refund they offered.

May Wedding 2022

We had an absolutely wonderful wedding day! The team at Samlesbury Hall were amazing from our first enquiry back in 2019 through to our magical day in 2022. The team were so helpful with our postponement due to Covid-19, incredibly flexible and accommodating to all our requests and ideas. We couldn't have wished for a better day; everything went so smoothly thanks to the professionalism of the team, the quality of the suppliers recommended and the attention to detail from everyone involved!
