Where do we even begin? Our wedding at The Grand, York was everything we dreamed of and more. A classic, elegant affair with a relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere—and every single detail was executed to perfection by the most incredible team. The Grand is a venue that not only lives up to its name in grandeur and style but also in heart and hospitality.
Daisy – The Heart of Our Wedding Experience
The absolute standout of our entire journey was Daisy. From the very first meeting, she was a beacon of calm, joy, and professionalism. She guided us through every stage of planning with thoughtfulness and care, taking the time to understand our vision and bringing it to life in ways we didn’t even know were possible. Daisy went above and beyond—organising planning meetings, collaborating with our florist, and personally designing the tables with our stationery on the day (a detail we hadn’t even requested, but it was perfect).
When you book a 5-star hotel for your wedding, you don’t expect to get a 6-star person, but that’s exactly what Daisy is. She truly made our day unforgettable, and we can never thank her enough for how supported and special she made us feel.
Freddie & the Concierge Team – A Masterclass in Service
Equally remarkable was Freddie and his concierge team, who made our guests feel like royalty. From ensuring all luggage was promptly delivered to rooms to greeting guests warmly and bidding them farewell with care, every moment of interaction was polished and personal. Freddie orchestrated the comings and goings of our guests with such grace—it didn’t go unnoticed, and it added a touch of seamless luxury to the weekend that everyone commented on.
The Hotel – A Grand Home Away from Home
We stayed in the Grand Heritage Suite, which felt more like a private residence than a hotel room—it was luxurious yet cozy, and the housekeepers truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. They were so kind and attentive, always checking if there was anything we needed. We were also so touched to see The Grand proudly flying the Pride flag outside the hotel all weekend—from our check-in on Friday to our farewell on Monday. It meant the world to us and was a beautiful gesture of love and inclusion that we’ll never forget.
The venue itself is breathtaking, and our guests were genuinely stunned by its elegance and character. Many mentioned not only how impressive it was, but also how inviting it felt—a rare and perfect combination.
The Personal Touches That Made the Day Extra Special
What makes The Grand truly magical are the little moments that showed us this was far more than just a venue—it was a family. One of the most touching examples: our friend’s young son is obsessed with trains, and knowing the building’s historic link to the railway, staff took the time to give him a behind-the-scenes tour, showing him the areas once used as the railway’s headquarters. It meant the world to him—and to us. That kind of thoughtfulness is priceless.
A Place We’ll Always Return To
The Grand, York gave us the wedding of a lifetime. So much so, we’ve already booked to return for our first anniversary—we simply couldn’t imagine not coming back. It’s not just a hotel; it’s a place full of heart, elegance, and people who genuinely care about making every moment meaningful.
To Daisy, Freddie, the housekeepers, and everyone at The Grand—thank you for making our wedding the most special, personal, and joy-filled celebration we could have ever imagined. You gave us lifelong memories, and we will forever be grateful.The Grand, York's reply:

Wedding review
The Grand hotel is an outstanding venue and we fell in love with it from the moment we stepped foot in the door
The staff are welcoming , respectful and polite.
Daisy made a wonderful impression on us and we have so much to thank Daisy for, Her kindness and support is unmatched the attention to details made and the attention to details you may have missed yourself
Don’t go unnoticed, everything you can imagine is taken care of ,
Daisy has so many wonderful connections which can take away any stress of finding venders yourself ,
No matter how many questions or concerns we had Daisy was an email away to help put our minds at rest ,
On the Day Daisy is with you right the way though and has an impeccable team behind her who are there to cater for your needs, The team is there for you but they also make a big part of your day , they have an amazing way of making your day just for you and help provide guidance as they day flows through each special moment
Our intimate wedding so made so special and we can’t thank Daisy, the team and The Grand for everything they did for us for our most Cherished moments

Daisy & all the staff at The Grand Hotel made are day extra special, the service is outstanding nothing too much trouble, it felt like everyone we spoke to was aware we were getting married, stayed for 2 nights in The Grand Heritage Suite, great room for the ladies to get ready in. The food on the Wedding day was incredible we would highly recommend the Chairman’s suite for a more intimate small Wedding.
Can’t wait for our return at Christmas. -

Magical & incredible experience
Between daisy and Simon our day was truly the most magical day, it ran so smoothly without a single hickup and we can’t thank them enough. The team at grand are exceptional at what they do! We had a smaller wedding reception and it felt so intimate and special -
