We had the most incredible small wedding at River Cottage — just the two of us and four of our closest family members — and it was everything we hoped for and more.
From start to finish, the day felt effortless, joyful, and full of thoughtful touches. River Cottage completely captured the relaxed, meaningful atmosphere we wanted. It was intimate, beautiful, and completely unique to us.
The food was simply outstanding — every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. None of us could agree on a favourite because everything was so good!
We also loved how the day flowed so naturally. Garden games added a fun, playful energy, and the setting gave us the space to enjoy each other’s company in a calm and beautiful environment. It felt like a true celebration of love and family.
River Cottage embraced our small group completely — listening to our stories, joining in with our family traditions, and making us feel so at home.
If you’re considering a small or intimate wedding, River Cottage is something truly special. A magical setting, unforgettable food, and an atmosphere you can’t put into words. -

We had the most wonderful experience at River Cottage, with huge thanks to Lucy and the team. We knew we wanted a laid back wedding in a beautiful setting with delicious food and we could not have had a better experience. Lucy was a wonderful coordinator - the whole planning process through to the day of genuinely felt stress free and we are so grateful for the team for helping have the most amazing day. The food was amazing and we loved that it was all locally sourced - guests were raving about it afterwards and the River Cottage team were so accommodating with the range of dietary requirements across our guests. Lots of our family and friends have said it was their favourite wedding yet - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others if you're looking for a relaxed, fun and food-filled wedding day! -

River Cottage was the perfect venue for our big day - we aren’t super traditional, love being outdoors and enjoy eating good food (it was genuinely incredible)! We fell in love with the relaxed vibe, and were so excited to get married in a beautiful garden - what more can you want than a robin singing along whilst you read your vows?! Magical! We honestly had the best time.
River Cottage think of everything, and you can decorate as much or as little as you need. The barn is beautiful without any additional set up or decorations, plus the venue provide fresh flowers cut from their own garden for the tables. The food was amazing! We had a vegetarian menu, which we planned with the head chef - no one missed meat, and even our fussiest of eaters cleaned their plates. We have had so many compliments from our guests, who loved the food and enjoyed a fun, chilled out day.
Lucy, the Wedding & Events Coordinator, is such a wonderful, friendly human. She totally got us, and it was an absolute pleasure to have her help organise and run our day. All the other staff were super friendly and accommodating as well.
What we also love is that you can go back to River Cottage even after all the excitement and the big day is over! It’s not just a wedding venue, so we can go back and make even more memories in a place that has such a special place in our story.

More than we could have wished for
At River Cottage, our wedding day was perfect. My husband and I woke up the next day on cloud nine and we both agreed it really could not have been any more perfect. This was all down to Lucy, the coordinator, and the whole team! Everyone we spoke to on the day was so kind and friendly and it felt like they were really happy to help. The team at the bar were fantastic, especially with some of the guests who loved a tequila or two!
From day one of planning our wedding, the team responded so quickly to all of our millions of questions, none of which seemed to phase them, and everything we had asked for was just simply done! They knew what to do to make it an incredible day! Our day felt unique to us, but the team were so well organised you could tell they'd had done this many times before, but taking just as much care each time.
Every guest said how incredible the food was, and we knew it would be, but we didn't imagine how good it would be! One of our suppliers had forgotten to send specific vegan truffles we had asked for as wedding favours, but when I told River Cottage this, the day before the wedding, they had made hand-made truffles for our vegan guests! We didn't expect that or even ask that, they just did it and it was the little things like that which made it so perfect.
All day we both felt at complete ease and most importantly we both felt like we trusted the team to get everything right and they did, and more! So really we can't thank them enough as we both have the most wonderful memories of a lifetime! And our guests do too, my sister said that was the best wedding she has ever been to!River Cottage's reply:

We held a wedding at River Cottage on May 21st 2022 for 90 guests. The food is of course outstanding and the venue lovely , but the wedding planner , Lucy Edwards , is fantastic. Always cheerful and pleasant , great attention to detail and really gets things done . She could not have done better.
