Absolutely phenomenal
I cannot recommend Lauren, Evie and John enough!! Lauren sorted out absolutely everything I asked for even down to constructing my wedding cake with Evie!! She went over and above for us, nothing was too much hassle. I cannot recommend them enough. I had a very specific themes and vibe, Lauren just understood the brief and made sure I had everything I needed. She was calm and professional the whole way through, whilst also making sure that the littlest detail was perfect. We were allowed to set up the night before which made the day run so smoothly. John and Andrew attended to the guests and made sure I was never without a drink. The food was amazing, honestly it was so so so perfect. I dreamt of my wedding day, as most people do, I was exactly how I imagined thanks to the incredible staff. Thank you so so much Lauren and the team ❤️💜🧡 -

Wedding 2025
We had our wedding here is 2025 and the venue and team were fantastic. We was at a family members 60th 4 week later and everyone was still complimenting the venue, the day, the staff. We can't wait to go back next year to celebrate our anniversary. -

Our dream day
We got married at Grand Villa Heights on Friday 5th September and we're still on cloud nine after a perfect day. We were a little apprehensive when we booked with the venue as they're undergoing renovations but they really pulled it off. All of our guests commented on both the stunning venue and the breathtaking views! Lauren was our wedding coordinator and worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that all our queries were answered and that our day was planned to perfection. Our master of ceromies John was fantastic too! Nothing was too much trouble and he worked hard to ensure the day ran smoothly. Thanks to everyone at Grand Villa Heights for an unforgettable wedding day. -

Perfect Wedding day
We had the most incredible experience at Grand Villa Heights. The venue is perfectly priced for how beautiful it is – honestly, such amazing value for everything you get. The staff couldn’t do enough for us; they went above and beyond to make sure every little detail was taken care of. Our day ran seamlessly from start to finish, which allowed us to truly relax and enjoy every moment. And the views… absolutely stunning! They made for the most breathtaking backdrop to our wedding and photos. We couldn’t recommend Grand Villa Heights highly enough. -

Co-ordinator Lauren and the Grand Villa Height’s team are incredible wedding daymakers!
We had booked our wedding when this venue was Raven Hall Hotel, however when The Apartment Group had purchased the business, we were apprehensive about what changes would occur. From January onwards, we saw the wonderful transformation, which elevated this venue and made it an amazing place to get married!
We had a twilight wedding and got married on 31 July at Grand Villa Heights. We loved that we could get married on the grounds looking out onto Ravenscar and Robin Hood’s Bay. We also loved that the wedding meal and evening events was in the large, spacious function room which looked out onto Robin Hood’s Bay. The Grand Villa Height’s team were extremely accommodating, supportive and ran the evening’s ceremony with precision and ease. Wedding co-ordinator Lauren and the team met our guests’ dietary needs and accessibility requirements for individuals staying overnight at the hotel. Lauren also did a brilliant job of hiding the delightful, talented and iconic New York Brass Band from our guests, until it was time for them to gatecrash the end of the speeches and get the party started, which they did with gusto! Thank you, Lauren, Rachelle, MC Andrew, John, the chefs, Andy as well as the hotel and bar staff for making it an extremely fun, relaxed and memorable wedding for us!

The wow factor it isnt
Dear Bernard Thomas
On arriving at Grand Villa Heights on Thursday 10th July for my sons wedding, I found that the hotel was a building site, knowing that my son was getting married on the 11th July this was not satisfactory at all. It was understood that it the work would have been completed before our arrival. Painting doors that the bride would be going through in her wedding gown a few hours before the ceremony was ridiculous.
We booked in at reception on the understanding that the two rooms booked would be on lower floors due to my mother an 86 year old that can't walk well or climb stairs due to her illness, which was also talked about on booking the venue. Mum was really upset with the two days and was mostly confined to her room due to being infirm. We were given room on the top floor rooms 307 and 308, lift only to the 2nd floor and two stairs flights to contend with. This was, I find disgusting.
Mum was in 307 and my husband and I in 308. The rooms I found both rooms dirty. Tea stains down the door that had not been cleaned off. Wallpaper falling off the walls. Windows on the inside not cleaned, pvc on the window joints had brown stains on that looked horrible, definately not cleaned in a long time, one of the bathroom windows didn't open, and with it being as hot as it was we needed as much air in the rooms as the third floor was unbearably hot. The bath had bits in it and the shower mat had pink algae from water residue that had to have been left uncleaned for a while. The bathroom basin hot tap was hanging off and dangerous.
The tv could not be watched unless you held on to the ariel at the back of it.
The noise from workmen at 6.55am was terrible and uncalled for at that time. I understand they have a job to do but not where it's at the upset of guests.
The breakfasts were tepid and would be better served to order with HOT plates.
Do I feel that i have had value for money, the answer is no and feel that I have been short changed.
On speaking to reception about these issues, I was told that it would be looked into and sorted, it wasn't, so feel that we were just shrugged off and felt that i was unjust in complaining.
I have stayed in better hotels for less money so did expect more for my money in all honesty £648 paid was not value for money for what we got, if I had wanted to stay at a Premier inn I would have paid Premier Inn prices. I thought we were coming to a boutique hotel with what the pictures on the website show the wow factor. Instead we came to a building site with run down rooms that were dirty and seen better days. This should have been a couple of days filled with joy on the wedding of my son and daughter in law. This was not the case and feel that it was shambolic.
Hope that you will look into this with a speedy response and await in anticipation of your reply.
This was the email sent and haven't even got the decency to reply. Absolutely disgusted is an understatement.

Best day ever
We took the risk in booking Grand Villa Heights, hoping the renovations would be complete in time, and though there was a little trepidation along the way, the risk paid off and we honestly had the best wedding day ever. All of our guests said the same thing too – it was just a fabulous day and no one could get over the scenery!
The views are unmatched, the decor and design of the place is beautiful and all of the staff are incredibly lovely. The catering was great and our band was a real hit so thank you for allowing for the smooth running of all that. John was a superstar in the running of the day, and Andrew our master of ceremonies was wonderful. Lauren, Evie and Donna were all so lovely in the build up and couldn't so enough for us. Also Evie did amazingly to cope with some of our more demanding guests during the wedding (thank you and sorry!)! Ben was a lovely host for the night before, and Bernard did all he could to help us with a few hiccups throughout. Then just a shout out to all of the bar, waiting and catering staff who were fab too.
One of the most unique and beautiful venues - amazing. -

We just wanted to send a little thank you message due to how amazing everyone was.
The whole weekend was truly magical and we had the best time ever. Our family and friends mentioned it's one of the best weddings they have been too, and we genuinely have all of you to Thank for making this come true for us.
The whole team, lead by John, on the day we're just the Best. We had the total trust in you all, and you all made every wish come true.
Each and every thing we asked for, you all jumped and made it happen.

Do not book- you will be stressed and lied to constantly! They use ai pictures and assurances to get your money!
Do not book with The Apartment Group – a deeply dishonest and misleading company.
They sold me a wedding package they couldn't deliver on time. When I asked for a refund, they issued it, but then tried to blame me for cancelling — even though they failed to meet their own deadlines. Instead of taking responsibility and cancelling when they knew the renovations wouldn't be finished, they left me feeling pressured to cancel due to constantly changing timelines.
Their marketing is deceptive. They use AI-generated images to advertise weddings and paint an unrealistic picture of what they actually offer. The reality is far below expectations.
The website is full of fake visuals, and the company makes promises they simply can’t keep. Worst of all, the contract is heavily one-sided. Even if the venue wasn’t structurally complete — say, without a roof — you'd still be the one held accountable.
The CEO refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing and continues to run the business by exploiting excited, hopeful couples. It’s a disgrace.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!-

Our Commercial Manager worked closely with you both to try and resolve your concerns; which included, the option to move your celebration to another of our venues, as well as providing significant financial incentives and added extras to make your day as special as possible at Grand Villa Heights. We are sorry we were unable to reach an amicable agreement between us.
Despite the options made available, you personally chose to cancel your booking with us. We honoured this and ensured a full refund was processed within three working days.
