Our Dream Wedding at Notley Tythe Barn – A Heartfelt Thank You

When we started searching for wedding venues in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, we sent enquiries to several places. Notley Tythe Barn stood out immediately – they were the first to respond and continued to be incredibly quick and helpful throughout the entire process. That responsiveness alone was a huge plus for us.

They scheduled a visit without delay, and once we saw the venue and met the team, we instantly cancelled all our other appointments. Sometimes you just know – and we knew we’d never find anything better than Notley. It was perfect.

Another huge advantage was their website. Being able to build our own quote online and understand the pricing from the start was so reassuring. No hidden costs, no surprises – just full transparency, which we really appreciated.

Chrystia was absolutely brilliant. She walked us through the venue and introduced us to the team. We even spent some time chatting in the kitchen with Chef Petr – and that’s where our excitement really grew. We had a Turkish-English wedding, and food was incredibly important to us. Chef Petr went above and beyond, preparing incredible Turkish dishes for our day. He truly blew us away!

The finance and admin side of the team was just as strong – responsive, organised, and flexible. We were able to tweak things as needed, and they always made us feel supported.

As for the venue itself – it’s beautiful in its simplicity. We didn’t want anything over-the-top, and the barn’s character and charm spoke for itself. The fairy lights added just the right touch of magic. We focused on table décor and small personal touches, which blended in beautifully with the space.

One of the best things about Notley is the availability of extra items – LOVE letters on the dancefloor, a sweet trolley, card box, and more. We booked almost all of them! Having everything available in-house made life so much easier. We didn’t have to run around sourcing things – everything was there and ready.

And then there was Ian, the beer donkey – what an absolute legend! He brought so much fun and joy to our sunny wedding day. Our guests adored him!

A special thank you to Jules, our event manager, who walked us through every detail and ensured the day ran smoothly. She made us feel calm, confident, and completely taken care of.

The bar, the massive dancefloor, the setup – it was all just perfect. With the bar next to the dancefloor, the party never stopped – people could grab a drink and keep dancing without missing a beat.

We could go on and on, but we’ll stop here to spare your eyes! 😊

We are endlessly grateful to the entire Notley team. It was the best decision to choose Notley Tythe Barn for our big day. Who knows – maybe we’ll be back to celebrate our 10th, 20th, or even 30th anniversary there!

We knew as soon as we'd finished our viewing that it was for us, and it exceeded our expectations.

The food was delicious l, the day amazing, and Alison and the experienced staff guided us throughout the process and through our big day.

Would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, characterful place for their wedding.

We had our wedding at Notley, and it was truly a magical day in a beautiful setting. The weather started off wet but cleared to sunshine in the afternoon, which only added to the charm of the day.

The team were confident, charming, and immediately put us at ease. They supported us throughout the entire process, helping with all the finer details and ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

The food was absolutely outstanding. Our guests were raving about it all day, as well as the exceptional service. By the end of the evening, people were genuinely rolling home feeling very full and very happy!

We were told by so many guests that it was one of the best weddings they had ever attended, and that is a testament to the fabulous team at Notley and their wonderful venue. We honestly can’t praise them enough and are so grateful for everything they did to make our day so special.

The team were all fantastic - no ask was too much and they answered my many questions with kindness and and support. The food was fantastic, the barn is gorgeous and Ian the beer donkey is an absolute icon!

We had the most amazing wedding day at Notley Tythe Barn.

In the run up to the wedding, Alison was very helpful and responsive via email to any queries. The team were happy for us to come and visit a few times to check out various things (and could also have a practice walk through with my bridesmaids the evening before the wedding). We were also invited for a food tasting - its £50 a head and you don't necessarily have the food from your menu, but it was definitely worth doing and they made it such a lovely occasion. We also had a meeting with our assigned coordinator, Susan, a few days before the day, which helped to feel reassured for the day.

The day itself was incredible. The venue looked absolutely gorgeous in the sun, and needed very minimal decoration. Susan put us completely at ease on the day and helped to create a lovely relaxed atmosphere for all the guests. She struck a perfect balance between checking in with us without it ever feeling overbearing. There were a few hitches with the mics/sound system but nothing that took away from how great the day was.

The waiting staff were polite and attentive - never letting anyone go without an empty glass in the drinks reception (the drinks packages are incredibly generous!) and being super quick to clear away glasses etc in the evening.

All the guest have commented on how outstanding the food was, with generous portions. We had lots of flexibility in customising our menu which I really appreciated.

Notley also offers a good selection of extras. We chose the pimp your prosecco trolley and Ian the beer donkey - which both went down very well with the guests.

My one tip for couples would just be to double check who's doing what in terms of your decor (e.g., stylist if you're having, Notley staff, the couple etc) -to make sure everything is done on the day. But as above, this didn't affect much in the grand scheme of things!

All in all, it was a truly special day and we will be forever grateful to the Notley team and the most gorgeous venue :)

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding day. The food was absolutely amazing and incredibly generous, no one left without a full belly, and our family and friends are still talking about it! We loved how flexible the day was, allowing us to tailor parts of it exactly to what we wanted. Having a winter wedding was extra special; the fireplace created such a cosy atmosphere, and finishing the evening with fireworks was magical. So many of our guests have said it was the perfect backdrop to our day, and we couldn’t agree more.

From our first visit we knew Notley Tythe Barn was the perfect venue for our wedding. The whole team were so helpful and welcoming for all our questions and requests, Chef Petr and his team delivered the most delicious food all day. Rosie made sure our day went smoothly and everyone agreed that that Notley was the most beautiful venue.

Everything was better than excellent. The food was sublime and the quality quite astonishing given that there were 88 of us. The room and atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were wonderful.

From the very start, Notley were so welcoming, kind and patient with their time. The venue is absolutely beautiful and we just had the best day. The staff were so efficient, busy in the background making sure our day went as smoothly as possible. The food was also delicious as was all the added extras, such as Ian the Donkey :-) the disco, the trailer bar, the music. We had a beautiful day and we couldn't recommend Notley more.

The perfect location and day for our wedding. We cannot recommend Alison, Jules and the Notley team enough. From our first look around, we knew that Notley was the perfect setting for our wedding day and they made everything so simple for us, taking the stress away of planning completely.
