We honestly cannot put into words how grateful we are to everyone at Il Castello di San Ruffino for giving us the most incredible wedding experience and helping to make our dream wedding a reality.
From the moment we chose this beautiful venue, we knew we were somewhere special, but what truly made the experience exceptional were the amazing people behind it all — especially Laura.
Laura has been absolutely incredible from start to finish. She has responded to every question so quickly, accommodated everything we asked for, and has consistently gone above and beyond to make sure every detail was exactly how we imagined it. Planning a wedding abroad could have felt overwhelming, but Laura made the entire process feel so easy, personal and exciting.
What we will never forget is how special she made us feel throughout the whole journey. Despite everything she must have going on behind the scenes, Laura somehow made us feel like we were the only couple she was looking after. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and her care, dedication and attention to detail were truly outstanding.
Our wedding weekend was everything we could ever have dreamed of and so much more. The entire team at Il Castello di San Ruffino were absolutely amazing — professional, warm, helpful and clearly passionate about making every couple’s day unforgettable. Every single detail was handled so beautifully, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the most special time of our lives.
The venue itself is breathtaking, but it is the people — and especially Laura — who make Il Castello di San Ruffino truly extraordinary.

We got married at Il Castello di San Ruffino on 25 August 2026, and it was everything we dreamed of!

As prospective newlyweds you’re probably reading this in a state of panic, not knowing which of 100s of venues to choose from in Italy for your dream day. So let us tell you why we loved San Ruffino so much.

First of all, and above everything else, is Laura’s efforts at the Castle. Laura is the coordinator for weddings at the Castle and she is just superb. She speaks English, Spanish and Italian (probably some other languages too!) and will be your best friend in the whole process. Everything, and we mean everything, we asked for she helped us secure for the big day. She’s always available, always smiling and always delivering. Her advice, even when you think you’re right, is gold. Everything she advised us on went to plan and we’re so grateful we took her advice.

As for the venue, it’s perfect! We did a pizza party (as a welcome dinner) and hosted circa 120 people for a ceremony, aperitivo, reception and dancing (and an after party that went on to the early hours of the morning). As a venue it offers so many options for the different events. Every event we had was in a different part of the castle, all different in their own magical ways.

The catering team is also phenomenal. When we say the food was some of the best we’ve ever tried we mean it. From the freshly made pizzas to the aperitivos and then to a 4 course reception, they delivered each time.

Location wise Il Castello is also ideal. It’s a 20 minute drive from Pisa Airport meaning that Laura can arrange taxis for all of your guests (and she does so extremely efficiently!). It’s a great spot for those flying into Pisa but is also close to a train station (Pontedera) meaning that guests can take trains and get close to the castle from anywhere in Italy.

Perhaps one of the coolest things of the venue is that it can sleep close to 100 people on site. This was perfect for us as we wanted to be surrounded by our friends and family for the two days. Seeing them enjoy the venue, swimming in the pool, taking walks in the hills, was all part of our wonderful experience.

The photographs you can take are also second to none. Il Castello has an amazing backdrop being perched up on a hill. The lighting at sunset is also so special and each part of the castle is different, meaning that you can take the most unique and incredible pictures ever.

Overall, this venue was the reason we had our dream wedding. It was perfect in every way and the people who work there to make your occasion so special are the best!

We celebrated our wedding at Il Castello di San Ruffino in September 2024, and it was truly unforgettable from start to finish! Our three-day celebration included a pizza party, the wedding day, and a pool party to close out the weekend.

Pierluigi and his team were attentive, accommodating, and truly invested in making our wedding weekend perfect. From listening to our vision to recommending vendors, they took our ideas and elevated them with their expertise. Special thanks to Roberto, who flawlessly coordinated each event over the weekend, ensuring everything went smoothly. His professionalism and warmth made us feel completely at ease, knowing every moment was taken care of.

We also want to give a shoutout to Laura and Carlotta at reception, who went above and beyond to make us, and our guests feel like royalty. From the bistro to the bar, the service was impeccable, always delivered with a smile and warmth. The bistro provided incredible meals throughout the weekend, from the wedding-day to late-night snacks - the truffle risotto was a highlight of the weekend!

All 60 of our guests stayed at the venue, and each of them loved their rooms and the beautiful setting. With such a gorgeous backdrop and helpful staff, everyone left with nothing but good memories and compliments.
