Set beside the River Thames in Greater London, Hampton Court Palace is a remarkable setting for a wedding. With more than 500 years of royal history, magnificent architecture and beautiful gardens, the Palace offers an unforgettable backdrop for wedding ceremonies, receptions and photography.

From grand celebrations in the historic Palace rooms to intimate ceremonies in the Garden Room and Little Banqueting House, Hampton Court offers a range of distinctive settings for weddings of different sizes and styles.

Weddings inside Hampton Court Palace

For those looking to celebrate within the historic Palace, the Great Hall, Cartoon Gallery and State Apartment offer spectacular settings steeped in royal history.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is one of the most impressive wedding venues at Hampton Court Palace. Built during the reign of Henry VIII, it is England’s last remaining medieval great hall and one of the Palace’s most magnificent spaces.

With its vast proportions, richly decorated interior and remarkable hammer-beam ceiling, the Great Hall provides an extraordinary setting for a grand wedding celebration. It can accommodate up to 400 guests for a standing reception or 220 guests dining, with dancing taking place in the Undercroft.

A wedding in the Great Hall offers a rare opportunity to celebrate amid the architecture and atmosphere of a royal medieval court.

The State Apartments and Cartoon Gallery

For those looking to celebrate within the historic Palace, the Great Hall, Cartoon Gallery and King’s Guard Chamber offer spectacular settings steeped in royal history.

Each space has its own character and historic story, offering a memorable setting for a wedding celebration surrounded by centuries of royal history.

Weddings in the Garden Room and Little Banqueting House

Away from the grand interiors of the Palace, the Garden Room and Little Banqueting House offer distinctive settings for civil ceremonies, receptions and more intimate celebrations.

The Garden Room

The Garden Room provides an elegant setting for larger wedding ceremonies and receptions. It can accommodate up to 180 guests for a civil ceremony and reception, making it a versatile choice for couples planning a celebration with family and friends. Its private position within the historic Hampton Court gardens also offers opportunities to enjoy the Palace’s grounds, creating a beautiful setting for wedding photography.

Little Banqueting House

For a smaller celebration, the Little Banqueting House, set alongside the river, offers an intimate but grand setting. It can accommodate up to 50 guests for a civil ceremony, 80 guests for a standing reception and 50 guests for a seated lunch or dinner.

A wedding with a royal history

Hampton Court Palace has witnessed centuries of royal life, celebrations and important moments in history. A wedding here becomes part of that continuing story, with each setting offering its own connection to the Palace and its past.

Whether held beneath the magnificent ceiling of the Great Hall, among the historic interiors of the State Apartments, or in the Garden Room or Little Banqueting House, a wedding at Hampton Court Palace offers a setting unlike any other. These spectacular spaces can also be used in conjunction with each other.

The perfect wedding venue

We had our wedding at Hampton Court Palace and couldn’t have asked for a better venue.

The Palace itself is absolutely stunning and provided such a unique and memorable setting for our wedding. The historic surroundings are incredible, and it really is a venue that leaves an impression on everyone.

What made the experience particularly special, though, was the team. From the initial planning right through to the wedding day itself, they were exceptionally professional, efficient and flexible. They were incredibly responsive throughout the planning process and made us feel that everything was under control, even when we inevitably had last-minute questions and changes. On the day, everything was executed perfectly and the whole event ran seamlessly.

We also felt that Hampton Court offered exceptional value compared with many other London wedding venues. Given the setting, the history and the level of service, we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't one of the most expensive options we considered.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Hampton Court Palace to anyone looking for a truly special wedding venue. The combination of an extraordinary setting and an excellent events team made our wedding everything we hoped it would be.

Majestic historical venue and amazing events team!

We’d long dreamt of getting married at Hampton Court Palace and the experience exceeded our expectations.

We had a 50 person ceremony in the Little Banqueting House, which was the perfect mix of intimate and ornate. It’s a beautiful space with a lovely ante-room to receive guests and private garden areas for drinks etc. It also has private toilets, a cloakroom and a room downstairs for pre-ceremony meetings. We were surprised how affordable it was to book the LBH! Though we can imagine those costs mount if you’re having a reception there too.

As with all historic venues there were limitations, especially with regards to food and drink, in order to protect the wonderful building but any history lover will be more than happy to accommodate. All the suppliers on their list were wonderful.

The best thing, aside from the amazing venue, is the wonderful events team. They are unbelievably slick and professional whilst being incredibly lovely. Even though we were probably doing the cheapest option at Hampton Court Palace we were never made to feel less of a priority. We felt in capable hands throughout the whole process and were welcomed to check out the venue multiple times (which is ideal for a nervous bride!)

All guests were given a free ticket to explore the palace on the day of the ceremony which they absolutely loved. And of course getting married at any venue in Hampton Court Palace means you get to have your wedding photos taken around the palace and gardens which was a true highlight.

The experience went so much further than just the day. We were given tickets to HCP’s wonderful Christmas fair, Food festival, and even sent a charming Henry VIII Christmas card! We truly felt like we were being welcomed into the Hampton Court family, and still feel that way after our wedding.

We couldn’t recommend getting married here more.
