Borgo Castello Panicaglia is a historic hilltop estate in Umbria, set around a beautifully preserved castle dating back to 1266. Surrounded by olive trees, rolling hills, and quiet countryside, it offers the charm of rural Italy with the comfort and quality of a modern boutique venue. The venue is known for combining five-star service with the relaxed charm of the Italian countryside. Staff members are known for being approachable, warm, and flexible.
Another reason the Borgo stands out is its family-friendly nature. Because it originally opened as a family hotel, the property naturally lends itself to weddings with children. There’s plenty for them to do throughout the day, and the setting feels welcoming for guests of all ages. At the same time, the venue adapts just as easily to couples who prefer a child-free celebration, offering a peaceful and intimate atmosphere whenever that’s desired.
This combination of quality, authenticity, and genuine hospitality is what many couples say makes the Borgo feel instantly like home.

There are 51 beds available across 17 hotel rooms. For additional guests, the Borgo collaborates with several nearby hotels located just five minutes away.

Preferred local partners
Many Italian and international wedding planners regularly host weddings at the Borgo, but the team is always open to working with new planners. Couples are welcome to bring their own planner, but the Borgo also offers supplier services. These services include finding and booking all suppliers, creating the itinerary, and coordinating the event days. Most couples choose this option and plan their wedding together with the Borgo team rather than hiring an external planner.
Catering is always done in-house, so couples never need to arrange food or drinks externally.
For other suppliers, the Borgo works with both Italian and international professionals. Over the years they have built a strong network of florists, photographers, videographers, musicians, hair stylists, makeup artists, and more. If a couple prefers to book someone outside this network, that is always possible. When supplier services are booked, the team shares their network and helps find the best match.
Extras and personal touches couples love
The events team consists of Dutch staff members. While the rest of the team is Italian and ensures the authentic atmosphere remains, the Dutch team brings structure to the planning process and communicates fluently in English.
Couples also receive a complimentary two-night stay when they book their wedding, giving them the chance to visit the venue, taste the food, and meet the team in person. The goal is to help couples feel at home from the beginning, so that when they arrive for their wedding, it feels like returning to a familiar place.
Memories and feedback couples often share
Couples frequently say that the staff is incredibly hospitable and very flexible with personal requests. Many mention that the service is among the best they have ever experienced.
The food also receives consistent praise. Since all catering is done in-house, the Borgo works with a dedicated kitchen team that delivers high-quality meals throughout the stay. From fresh pizzas and live BBQ grilling to a gourmet dinner on the wedding day, the food is often described as a highlight.

Meet the team
Ciao!
My name is Emma. I’m originally from the Netherlands, but I traded the flat fields for the hills of Italy because I fell in love with the culture, the food, and the landscapes.
Over the years, I’ve planned 80+ weddings and learned that the perfect celebration is all about balance: the passion, food, and weather of Italy, with a touch of Dutch organisation to keep everything running smoothly. I love guiding couples through the chaos, helping them relax completely, while I quietly make sure the day flows perfectly behind the scenes.
