We cannot recommend this venue enough. The hotel, space, location and views are quite frankly stunning and the team are outstanding. India was our wedding planner and nothing was too much trouble. Even, at points, looking after our cockapoo who attended our wedding! Her calm and helpful approach made everything so much easier and enjoyable. The wider team were also fantastic, everyone wanted to help to make the day just perfect. Our only complaint.... we can't do it all over again!

We recently held our wedding at Avon Gorge Hotel and, unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations.

To begin with, we had arranged a drinks reception on the terrace the day before the wedding and paid a £1,000 hire fee for this space. We were specifically promised access to a private bar; however, the bar did not open for the first 30 minutes of the booking, leaving our guests unable to purchase drinks and resulting in a disappointing start to the event.

We also encountered numerous issues with the accommodation bookings arranged through the wedding booking code provided by the venue. Not a single guest who booked through this system had a smooth experience. Problems included reservations being made under incorrect names, wrong room types being allocated, additional charges for extra beds and breakfasts that had not been requested, and some guests even being told on arrival that their reservations did not exist.

On the day of the wedding itself, the attitude and professionalism of several staff members was particularly disappointing. We had hired more than enough chairs to accommodate all of our guests during the ceremony, yet not all of them were set out. As a result, some guests were left standing at the back of the room. When we asked staff to bring out additional chairs, we were met with eye-rolling and an obvious lack of willingness to help. This was especially upsetting given that the bride was waiting outside the ceremony room to make her entrance at the time.

We also received complaints from guests regarding the bar service. Drinks were incorrectly charged, with additional zeros mistakenly added to card payments. For example, one guest was charged £60 for a Diet Coke. When these errors were pointed out, staff were reportedly dismissive and rude rather than apologetic and helpful.

These examples represent only a small number of the issues we experienced throughout our wedding celebrations. Following the event, we took the time to email our concerns to the venue. Disappointingly, we never received any acknowledgement or response.

Overall, the poor organisation, lack of attention to detail, and unprofessional attitude displayed by staff significantly impacted what should have been one of the most important and memorable days of our lives. We are extremely disappointed with the service we received and would not recommend this venue to couples considering it for their wedding.
