Everything went perfectly from the welcoming drinks and canapes upstairs photographs in the lovely grounds and then on the first floor we had the wedding breakfast, disco ,ceilidh.
From start to finish it was amazing
We started at 12:30 with the welcoming drinks and canapes then ended at midnight.
We had cocktails made up and were allowed to choose the beers and wines we wanted served.
We brought in our own caterers which was Chris from epicurus in North Shields. His food was amazing.
We had friends that made up our floral displays.
One of the best things about this venue is they are fully flexible so you can hire one room or both rooms It can be a do-it-yourself wedding or they have an amazing wedding planner. Kelly who was so helpful l.

We had our wedding reception at Apse and Spire on 11th September, and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better venue or a better experience. We had an absolutely fantastic time!

The venue itself is beautiful. It’s an old church that has been converted into a wedding venue, and it has so much character while still having everything you could possibly need for a wedding reception. The main reception hall is incredibly spacious, with plenty of room for tables, the food buffet, a dance floor, DJ setup and, of course, the bar — which is always important! 😄

We went with the in-house table arrangements and decorations, and everything looked fantastic. The setup was classy, elegant and really helped bring the whole reception together. There’s also a second-floor ceremonial space, which is equally beautiful and spacious, so the venue gives you plenty of flexibility depending on what you’re planning.

But what really made our experience so special was Allison, the wedding coordinator.

We had quite a few changes to our plans along the way. We initially planned for 10th October and eventually changed everything to 11th September, along with various other last-minute changes. Through all of it, Allison was absolutely incredible. She was always helpful, patient and reassuring, and she was there whenever we had a question, a last-minute request or simply needed someone to bounce an idea off.

If you’re considering Apse and Spire as your wedding venue, I would genuinely recommend asking to view the venue with Allison. When you’re planning a wedding, there are so many things to think about, and having someone like her guiding you through the process takes away a huge amount of stress. She knows exactly what questions to ask, what things you need to think about and what you might otherwise forget. Most importantly, she somehow manages to keep you sane throughout the whole process!

We honestly loved Allison so much that we might have liked her a tiny bit more than the venue… 😂 Just kidding — the venue and the team were fantastic, and Allison was a huge part of making our experience so enjoyable.

A special mention also has to go to Graham, who runs the bar. He was such a cutie pie and was incredibly welcoming to our guests. Everyone had a great time, and all of the bar staff were kind, friendly and helpful. Eva deserves a special mention too — she was absolutely lovely!

From the beautiful venue and fantastic setup to the wonderful staff and, especially, Allison’s support throughout the planning process, Apse and Spire gave us a wedding reception that we’ll remember for a very long time.

I was a bridesmaid on the 5th September at my mams wedding. It was such a great day and the staff were great. I would 100% recommend having your special day there.

We had our wedding here on Saturday. The venue was just so beautiful. Everything was perfect and all our guests complimented the venue, saying they didn't expect it to be so beautiful, expecially inside. I couldn't thank Alison enough for everything, she was so professional, very friendly and really put me at ease. If you had any questions, she would get back to you straight away. The staff were also amazing and I couldn't thank them all enough. Sue was also great and very friendly with setting up our decorations for the upstairs wedding ceremony and our wedding breakfast. Our wedding breakfast was absolutely delicious and all our guests enjoyed every meal, this was provided by Epicurus. Nothing was ever a bother and they provided first class service. Premier events were absolutely amazing, supplying our wedding party in the evening and also Acorn Hogroast, for providing our delicious sandwiches on the evening. We have memories to cherish forever. I would highly recommend. Thank you again for making our day even more magical! 💕🥂

I honestly couldn’t recommend this venue and the team enough. From the very beginning, Alison was incredibly professional, helpful and supportive throughout the whole wedding planning process.
I was new to Newcastle and working with a budget, so having someone who genuinely helped me understand the costs made such a difference. I had arranged my own catering, but Alison provided a clear list of prices for everything from the bar, including drinks and bottles, which made it so much easier for me to budget for my guests. She also gave me recommendations for local suppliers, including wedding cake vendors, which was especially helpful because I didn’t know many businesses in the area
I wanted to have a signature cocktail that included a traditional liquor from my country, and Gordon went out of his way to source and purchase the liquor for us, as well as the wines we wanted. That personal touch meant so much to me and made the wedding feel even more special.Throughout the planning, Alison regularly checked in with me and was incredibly accommodating. She allowed me to visit the venue several times so I could organise everything properly with my DJ and other suppliers. On the wedding day itself, she made sure that everything — and everyone — was taken care of, from the registrars to my photographer and the rest of the wedding team.Having a private bridal room was another huge bonus. I was able to change into my second dress, retouch my makeup and have a little space to myself during such a busy day.The bar staff were absolutely amazing — professional, friendly, organised and always on time. So many of our guests also commented on how beautiful the ceremony room looked. It was gorgeous, romantic and exactly the atmosphere I wanted for our wedding.One of the biggest advantages of this venue is that it really feels like three venues in one. Many of our guests had flown into Newcastle for the wedding, so being able to have the ceremony, photographs and reception/party all in the same place saved us so much time, stress and money. Nobody had to travel between different locations, which made the whole day flow beautifully.
A wedding day can be incredibly stressful for a bride, but Alison made the entire experience feel so much easier. I felt supported from the planning stages right through to the wedding day itself, and I could genuinely enjoy my day knowing everything was being looked after.

I would absolutely recommend this venue, especially to couples who want somewhere beautiful, flexible, well organised and genuinely supportive of their budget and ideas. ❤️

Made my wedding day experience magical and stress free. All of my needs were accommodated without any stress. Very hands on and nice staff, from timely reminders to sending me a list of things I needed. It was remarkable.

We recently had our engagement party at Apps and Spire and it truly is a hidden gem! All of our guests absolutely loved the venue and commented on how unique and special it was. It created such an amazing atmosphere for our celebration.

The staff were so lovely and helpful from start to finish, which made everything run smoothly. One of the best things was having access to the venue for three days – it really eased the stress and gave us plenty of time to set up and enjoy the whole experience.

The venue was perfect from start to finish. They let us use both of their fabulous rooms for our day and we were able to decorate them the way we liked. We were also able to choose what alcohol we would like and they even put on special cocktails for the day! We were able to use a catering company for our wedding breakfast and they were able to access the venue without any problems. The evening was perfect with lots of space for our guests and a stage for our DJ and space around for seats for those who needed. Could not fault the venue and the team. Thanks for making our day so special - wish we could do it all over again
