31 May, 2025Our Real Wedding
Harry and I met in probably the most conventional way: at the office. Back in 2017, and it was not love at first sight (not for me at least ;))!
We became best friends very quickly, which blossomed into the most beautiful love I have ever known. Fast forward to three years later, and picture this: the snowy Rocky Mountains, snow billowing down, gorgeous white capped mountains in a Colorado skyline, and an empty ski slope.
I have grown up skiing in Breckenridge, CO, my whole life. Being able to share my favourite place with my favourite person has always been so special, and Harry knew how special that place is to me. On a stunning, snowy afternoon, we stopped to take some photos while the slopes were eerily quiet. After taking a few snaps, Harry noticed a chipmunk in the tree line, and knowing my obsession with animals, I was immediately distracted with trying to spot the cute furry friend.
Harry describes it as time standing still as he got down onto one knee, and pulled the little box out of his salopette pocket. Now, my obsession with animals was clear, because I supposedly stood trying to find this little creature, for around two minutes. All the while, Harry's knee was freezing against the snow while he waited for me to turn around. A strange feeling crept over me and it was almost like I knew a second before I saw what was happening. I immediately burst into tears and jumped on top of Harry, kissing him and crying with happiness. It couldn't have been a more perfect engagement.

We both said at the same time, how lovely it would be to have our wedding at my family home, nestled deep in the Welsh countryside. Fast forward another three years, and it was nearly time for our nuptials. We loved every second of our three-year engagement, and couldn't get over how much we loved calling each other fiancé/fiancée.
We had a three-day wedding, with friends and family joining us on the Friday evening from all over the world - literally, from Australia and Denmark, to closer to home in London and, of course, our local southern Wales-based friends and family. My mum, along with her best friends, cooked and hosted an incredible spread to ease us into the wedding weekend. Of course, we all had a bit too much fun, and it went on for much longer than anticipated. Harry and his groomsmen eventually headed into Cowbridge for drinks, and to stay in one of our favourite locals: the Bear Hotel. Coincidentally, the Bear Hotel is where my mum and dad spent their wedding night, over 25 years ago, so it felt incredibly special and full circle.
I had a sleepover in my childhood room with my best friends, which was truly one of my favourite parts of our wedding. Waking up at 04:45 in the morning, excited beyond belief like Christmas morning, thinking it was genuinely time to wake up before realising it was still the middle of the night, was one of the funniest moments. A couple of hours later, it was all go.
Soon enough, it was time to get into my dress. Putting the dress on in my bedroom with my mum and best friend felt so surreal. Walking downstairs for the first reveal for my dad was another incredibly emotional moment; one I will never forget.
Getting into my dad's car and heading to the church was another perfect moment of calm before the storm. That short drive felt like forever as excited nerves began to bubble away inside me. Arriving at the most beautiful, ancient church felt magical as my bridesmaids helped me to get out of the car and begin the slow amble into the church. One more deep breath and gripping onto my dad's arm, veil over my face, and it was finally the moment I had been anticipating: the moment I walked in and saw my future husband, looking so incredibly handsome in his custom, cream tuxedo at the end of the aisle. I will never forget catching his eye, and despite the fact that everyone in the room had their eyes on my dad and I, my eyes did not leave Harry's. I couldn't wait to reach him and finally hold his hands.
The ceremony was absolutely perfect. Many friends and family told us that it was the best church ceremony they had ever been to, and they didn't realise church services could be so full of laughter! Singing and dancing with all our friends and family in the church to Lord of the Dance on the organ was one of our most favourite moments. It couldn't have been more special. Some photos outside, and even the rain couldn't dampen our moods as we were finally HUSBAND AND WIFE!
Heading back to my family home and seeing the sun shining and the tipi in all its glory, with the flowers and bar all set up, was so amazing to see. Harry has a horse box bar that he made many years ago with his late granddad. It looked so perfect, and our guests loved how special and sentimental it was - it truly felt like granddad Andy was with us.
Canapés and fizz, and the celebrations continued, our garden was alight with laughter and the steady hum of conversation. Before too long, it was time to take our seats for our starters and speeches. I loved that our sausage dog, Fig, and our family's dogs were all present, running around in their tuxedos and corsages. We couldn't have felt more at ease and present. The food was absolutely incredible. We opted for sharing platters of Hereford beef, with Italian starters, because we adore Italian food. It was so delicious, I wish I could eat it all over again!
Our first dance was to one of our favourite songs that means so much to us, Beyond by Leon Bridges. I also did a father-daughter dance to Yours by Post Malone, and dancing with my dad whilst taking in all of the happy faces of our friends and family was a picture-perfect moment.
Our wedding day/night was truly the best day of our life. I always used to think it was cliché, but genuinely, being surrounded by your favourite people, who mean the most to both of you, and celebrating your love for each other is such a beautiful thing.
The next day, we had a barbeque, and Harry’s mum kindly prepared loads of delicious salads and amouse-bouches, whilst our dad’s and other guests helped out on the bbq. It was a lot more subdued than the previous days, but it was so fun catching up with our family and friends, sharing stories of our wedding day and hearing everyone’s perspectives on it.
Now, over three months later (can’t believe it!), we talk about our wedding all the time, and love reminiscing over the beautiful photos and memories of our special weekend. We loved our life before, but being married to each other brings a beautiful sort of peace that I didn’t know would feel so good.
