Behind hera & hearth is me, Charli, a documentary and portrait photographer whose work has received national recognition, bringing that same story-led approach to weddings on digital and 35mm film.

My approach is quiet, observant and unobtrusive. I want you to be fully present with the people you love while I photograph the day as it naturally unfolds.

Alongside digital photography, I shoot 35mm film throughout weddings. I love its warmth, texture, colour and an almost tangible sense of memory. I’m drawn to photographs that feel honest and lived-in.

I’m always looking for the moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed, a nervous groom before the ceremony, children under tables, someone laughing across the room, a glance between two people, the light changing, the chaos and tenderness of everyone you love being together in one place.

My own wedding shaped the way I approach this work. I almost missed preserving some of the memories that became most important to me afterwards, and it made me realise just how quickly these days pass. I photograph weddings with the care I would give to the wedding of a dear friend: calmly, attentively and with a real understanding of how much these photographs will come to mean.

My finished galleries combine honest documentary photography with a subtle editorial eye and the distinctive character of analogue film. More than simply showing what your wedding looked like, I want the photographs to bring you back to how it felt.

I’m based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and photograph weddings across the Peak District, Derbyshire, the UK and Europe. I offer full-day and shorter wedding coverage, with options for additional rolls of 35mm film, engagement shoots and couples sessions.

hera & hearth is named for Hera, goddess of marriage and commitment, and the hearth — a symbol of home, belonging and the life built together.
