Steve and I had the pleasure of knowing Rich when he lived in the UK before he became a professional photographer. When we got engaged Rich was the only person we wanted to shoot the wedding, however he had moved to LA and has since become one of the most sought after wedding photographers in the business. Fortunately though, and to our absolute delight Rich was in the UK on the 20th August and agreed to shoot our wedding at Northbrook Park, in the Hampshire countryside just outside London. Rich was at the venue when I arrived at 9am running about in the rain (after all it is the great British summer!) trying to direct our limo through very tight corners. Knowing Rich made the day even more special and his interaction with our guests was out of this world. He captured every laugh, every tear, every special moment and having just looked at our pictures we cried, laughed out loud and feel transported back to the day....

Particular highlights are my dad lifting his kilt, Steve getting emotional at the Ceremony, my Maid of Honour chasing a runaway dress, a sexy leg/garter shot and some ‘special’ dance moves pulled off by our guests. The wedding was full of love and laughter and this is projected in the images Rich has taken. Rich is the most hardworking, professional and down to earth guy and it is a privilege that he is part of our lives. He went the extra mile and beyond to capture images that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. When we shared the slide show with our friends and family the one resounding word that came back was ‘Wow!’. After seeing your work and meeting with you a couple times prior to the big day we had high expectations and you still managed to blow us away. We had so much fun and there were so many special moments during our wedding that you were able to capture. We were ecstatic to see the email from you with our slideshow and photo album and in such a quick turnaround time! After traveling halfway around the world coming home from our honeymoon we sat back and relived the best day of our lives through your lens. My husband and I are beside ourselves over Clarkie's incredible photos from our rehearsal dinner and wedding day!!!! We will always remember the overwhelming amount of love that we felt flooded with on the most special day of our lives, but his photos really sealed the deal on that. We started our search really wanting to find a photographer who could capture the candid moments, and Richard delivered on all we could have hoped for, plus more. Chelsea: I stumbled upon Clarkie Photography by chance, looking at Alaskan wedding venue photos on Google and something drew me to the style of the photography. I then realized Richard was based out of LA, and we live in Alaska so I tried to get his photos out of my head, as it was probably not ideal to fly a photographer here. I continued to search for other photographers but I felt like I was going to be settling. My husband looked at his photos and with a little convincing, got to be as excited as I was, so we contacted Rich...Best. Decision. Ever! From the moment we first talked with him he made us feel comfortable and was a breeze to talk with. He offered to do an engagement shoot for us in Alaska, as he just so happened to be flying here for another wedding that summer. We were both a little nervous being in front of a camera like that for the first time but he made it so much fun and so enjoyable. The photos we received were mind blowing. Adam and I both knew that we had made the right decision, even if we did get a few weird looks from family and friends when we would tell them we were flying a photographer in from LA. Then came the time for our wedding. Communication was perfect, he answered any questions we had, and made us 100% comfortable. There was a moment where he even told me to breath, calming me down since my nerves were clearly obvious, moments before walking down the aisle. We have had nothing but amazing comments about how fun he was and I can't even put words to how much we love the gallery and slideshow we have now received from our big day. Adam: When my wife told me she wanted a photographer from LA, I thought she was insane. As a guy, I didn't have many considerations or expectations in a photographer other than a reasonable price; and all that I could think about was the extra cost of a plane ticket. Also as a guy, I wasn't allotted much say in the situation... So we went with Rich. I'm sure I'll get used to saying this, but my wife was right. From the moment we spoke to him I knew he was the right guy. He absolutely blew me away. His photo's were amazing, his attitude was amazing, his interaction with everyone was just simply amazing. He made everyone feel so comfortable, he made us genuinely laugh when needed, and he caught every single moment we could have asked for. Sure, its easy to make my wife look good, so I can't credit him too much on that aspect; but to make MY butt look less chunky than normal?! That's borderline magic. A couple of years back, we had the pleasure of meeting Rich at our close friend's wedding and we were so impressed by their beautiful photos that we knew that he would be the first (and only) photographer we reached out to once we were engaged. Thank goodness the stars aligned and Rich was available for our wedding date, because I simply cannot imagine our wedding day photographed by anyone else. Working with Rich feels like hanging out with an old friend - he's incredibly down-to-earth, super fun to be around, and brought amazing energy throughout a very hot 100 degree day. Rich's photos are truly magical because not only was he able to capture what seemed like every single element of our wedding day (seriously, it was so impressive), but he did so in a way that so perfectly depicted our personalities, emotion, and love for one another. Rich was absolutely fantastic! We were looking for an artistic and candid style, not just someone who would get the typical posed pictures, and he definitely exceeded that expectation. He not only captured the most spectature shots of our Catalina Island wedding, but really preserved the story of the full day. Rich was also amazing to work with! When planning, I didn't quite realize how much time you spend with your photographer and what an impact they have on your general enjoyment throughout the day. He was fun, funny, flexible, efficient, and somehow made everyone feel totally comfortable, which I think really showed in the pictures. Rich was phenomenal to work with. Well, what can I say?! The pictures speak for themselves. After receiving the preview slideshow, we were amazed at the pictures Rich got, his timing, the emotion captured, his initiative, and how he really captured the things that meant the most to us, which was so impressive considering how little time we had actually spent together until then. The preview slideshow is one of my favorite parts- being able to sit back and watch the wedding story unfold is very powerful and his work on the slideshow allows us to relive our wedding weekend on Catalina Island again and again. After getting the full album of pictures, turns out we were equally impressed with every single picture in the whole album! Every picture is worth framing and we have no idea how we’re going to choose. This is a terrific problem to have! Rich has an incredible attention to detail and is one of the hardest working people we have ever met. He is a true professional and every step of the way he was communicative, easygoing, and frankly, exactly what we were looking for in a photographer. We had a wedding weekend celebration on Catalina Island and Rich really captured our story well. While in the garden showing some family and friends around (mind you, no announcement was made that we were heading there), I turned around and there was Rich, capturing it all. Rich was also up until 1am taking pictures Friday night and somehow also has pictures of the sunrise the following morning, our wedding day (which we certainly weren’t up for!). He has pictures of my nephew swimming in the ocean for the first time, and a friend doing a backflip off the float… his dedication to capturing the wedding story of his clients goes beyond just the wedding itself, but extends to the emotion and story of real moments that happen throughout the whole experience. He got pictures of things we didn’t even know he was there for. While Rich’s pictures speak for themselves, what is equally remarkable is Rich’s professionalism, adaptability, incredible work ethic, friendliness, and fun demeanor. He so easily fit into whatever was going on and was all a pleasure to be around! Aside from getting married and choosing for it to be on Catalina Island, where my husband and I met, Rich was the best decision we made while planning our wedding. While there is much to stress about during the whole process and especially on the day, having Rich as our photographer was one thing we never thought twice about. His pictures are authentic (never forced or too posed) and he really knows what he’s doing. We will be forever grateful for his talent. Along with having amazing memories captured through his lens, we really had a great time with Rich and are so happy to have spent the whole weekend with him. Richard is an absolute treasure! We knew we were in safe hands after our first meeting when he was considering the timings of the sunset on our wedding day and he didn't disappoint. On the day he was calm, relaxed and friendly, always there but never intrusive. Needless to say we loved the photos - lots of ahhh moments when watching the slideshow. Rich and I connected through a mutual friend, and thank goodness because from the minute my now-husband and I saw his portfolio, we knew we wanted Rich to photograph our wedding!

When we met up in person, we all clicked immediately. He is a very warm, friendly, genuine person who has a very obvious passion for his work. However, one of my favorite things about that first meeting was that he was never once pushy about us booking his services... he didn't need to be because his work and demeanor spoke for themselves! We never even considered hiring anyone else.

Before the big day, Rich did an incredible engagement shoot for us in Agoura Hills. To say the photographs came out beautifully is a huge understatement! Rich's attention to detail is truly amazing! We spent hours finding one stunning location after another to capture what turned out to be very spectacular shots. To top it all off, Rich did the entire thing on crutches and never complained once... what a champ! I loved the engagement shoot because it gave us a chance to get to know Rich better before the big day.

About a month later, we tied the knot on a vineyard property in the Santa Ynez valley. Rich was there at our ceremony rehearsal at 8:30am, ready to go! He even gave the wedding party a brief rundown of what to expect from a photography perspective that day so everyone knew what would be happening. The entire day, Rich was running from one location to another to capture every beautiful moment of our day. He is such a hard worker... I never saw him take a break unless it was to back up photos! He was professional yet very personable with all of our guests. We had rave reviews from them before we even saw a single picture! We all loved him so much that we insisted he join us for a beer at the after-party without his camera! :)

Then we got the photos (a few teasers within a couple days and then the blog, slideshow, and full gallery within a few weeks!). Words cannot describe how absolutely breathtaking they turned out. Looking through the hundreds and hundreds of photos was like reliving the day in the same gorgeous, emotional way I remember it in my head. I am still not sure how one person managed to be in so many places at once to capture it all, but that is the kind of photographer Rich is. He anticipated and captured every moment and raw emotion with a grace that boggles my mind!

I really could go on and on about how wonderful our experience was working with Rich. We could not have trusted anyone else as much as we did Rich to invest that kind of heart and soul into our day. He truly felt the emotions of the moment along with us and translated them into photographs that we will cherish forever. A million thank you's to you, Rich. We knew right away after speaking with Clark we wanted him to photograph our wedding. He has incredible composition, captures all of the best emotions, is great with editing with no cliche filters, and is a very kind person who is comfortable to be around. We had to reschedule our wedding and venue during the pandemic and he was accommodating and handled the changes with grace. We are so happy with our album and highly recommend him.

Deciding to hire Richard Clarke as your wedding photographer is the most important wedding decision you'll ever make. Rich is not only extremely talented and delivered the most incredible wedding photos we could have ever asked for, but he's also just a great guy. He's incredibly humble and passionate about his work. Rich made everything feel like a breeze. Rich's style is to capture the genuine, real moments of a wedding without manufacturing anything. Prior to the wedding we had several introductory and prep calls to be sure he understood our real personalities and who we were as a couple. This is all part of his process. On the day of, it was just like we were hanging out with an old friend. He blended in with the rest of the group and somehow managed to capture the most beautiful photos we could have ever asked for. If there was a way to rate Rich with more than 5 stars - we would give him 10! From our very first Skype meeting, we could tell how passionate he was about his work. I initially thought it might be difficult for Rich to photograph our wedding in Sonoma since he was based in LA, but he was incredibly flexible and willing to work with us. We decided we didn't want to do an engagement shoot, so he joined us a day early to document our rehearsal dinner. As a result, we ended up with more candid family photos, which we absolutely love! Rich was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. He is professional, organized, flexible, and fun to be around! We were blown away by Rich's energy. He arrived before we started getting ready on our wedding day and left after all of our guests boarded the bus to leave. He worked tirelessly from morning to night to capture the spirit of the day. My husband and I are both pretty silly, and Rich was able to make us feel comfortable during the more serious formal portraits. Our families and friends loved getting to meet Rich as well - several people have commented on how impressive he was and how much they enjoyed him! After the wedding we were blown away by how quickly Rich sent us all of our photos. The day after we returned from our honeymoon (3 weeks from our wedding day), we received the most beautiful slide show and digital files of all of the photos from the rehearsal dinner and wedding. All of the emotions from our wedding day bubbled right back up - he completely captured the essence and energy of the day. It is such a special way to relive the day and share the memories with our family and friends. We have received tons of compliments, and most importantly we absolutely LOVE the images Rich captured. He is so much more than a wedding photographer, he is truly an artist! Rich was by far the best vendor that we worked with on our wedding day and we have already highly recommended him to our friends!

Retaining Rich as our wedding photographer was the easiest and best decision we made for our wedding day. He is doing exactly what he was born to do. A total professional from the start, we never had any doubts that he would do everything he could to maximize his time, but create breathtaking products (which he did). He was thorough yet unintrusive, sensitive yet clear, and a complete joy throughout the day. Our images are priceless artifacts that, due to his keen eye and editing, could be magazine features. I understand that wedding photography can seem like an indulgent cost, and I get that weddings are already very costly, but Rich is worth every penny and more. I have too many friends who regret skimping on wedding photography because, at the end, it is the only visual artifact from the day (unless you also opt for a videographer).
