About
What can the band offer for your Wedding?
Our School Pipes and Drums Band consists of 52 musicians, although for most events a smaller group can be booked, allowing performances to be tailored to suit different venues, schedules and event styles.
We regularly work alongside event organisers to create memorable moments within a programme. Performances can be adapted to suit a wide range of weddings, small private celebrations, outdoor weddings, church services, castles, hotles and private homes and gardens.
Options can include:
- One or two pipers welcoming guests on arrival or leading a special entrance.
- A small pipes and drums group performing as guests arrive or depart.
- A featured performance during your big day
- Or a combination of these elements throughout the day to create memorable moments.
A recent example was when the band was invited to perform at a King's Foundation Trust event, where 11 members of the band supported the event programme:
- The band performed for 45 minutes as guests arrived, with short pauses between sets.
- Two pipers led the King into the event, creating a ceremonial entrance.
- Just before the awards and speeches, the pipers performed again to mark the occasion.
Our Senior Pipe Major, Mrs Scotson, has extensive experience in coordinating performances for events and is always happy to work with couples to design the most effective way to include the band within the schedule.
Whether you are looking for a simple, welcoming performance or a larger musical feature, we would be delighted to support your day.
If you would like more information, availability, or would like to discuss how the band could enhance a wedding, please feel free to get in touch.
Who are Gordon's School Band:
From castles, cathedrals and remembrance events to football pitches and stadiums, the Gordon's School Pipes and Drums play to a huge variety of audiences, bringing a special tradition that has lasted over 140 years. The hard-working group meets early, every morning to practise not only their music but marching, their age - some of them just 12 years old - no barrier to their professionalism and expertise.
As well as performing for His Majesty the King and Queen Elizabeth II, they have played at the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, for the Lord Mayor's Parade and the Armed Forces Convoy. They are regular performers at the Brookwood Last Post Association ceremonies and in Ypres at Menin Gate and compete in the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships and World Pipe Band Championships as well as with the bag-rock group The Red-Hot Chilli Pipers!
Now partnered with the internationally acclaimed National Piping Centre, the Gordon's Pipes and Drums are going from strength to strength, fulfilling more engagements, practising harder and bringing Scotland and the school's tradition and heritage to more and more audiences across the country and Europe.
We know there is an appetite for Pipes and Drums across the globe, and there is a particular emotional attachment for Bands formed by disciplined, well-turned-out youths that defy the bad press metered out to teenagers. Our social media followers tell us this, with over 12,000 followers of the Pipes and Drums alone, and posts of Parades led by the Gordon's Pipes and Drums reaching over 100,000 worldwide.
Gordon's School Pipes and Drums Band is based in Woking, Surrey and offers wedding music services.
