Hi, I’m Jess Masterton-Smith - a Humanist Wedding Celebrant with a passion for storytelling and unforgettable ceremonies.
I create and conduct personal, meaningful, and joy-filled wedding ceremonies that are truly unique to each couple. I work closely with you to craft a celebration that reflects your story, your humour, and your values, and I’ll go above and beyond to make sure it feels authentically you.
I’m based on the Hampshire / Sussex border, but I happily cover the whole of the UK — and I absolutely love a destination wedding!

Personal ceremony conducted perfectly
Jess has conducted two ceremonies for our family, our sons naming ceremony and then our wedding a few months later. Both events were filled with love and laughter thanks to her. She has such a personal touch which is completely evident in the ceremonies.
The whole process with Jess goes far beyond the usual, she really takes the time to get to know you both (+ our son in this case) so when it comes to the day everything is so relaxed and easy. It really feels like a friend marrying you and our guests felt this warmth too. If we're blessed with another child there's no one else we'd go to.

Our Wedding With Jess ♥️
When we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted a celebrant who wasn't religious, but didn't know much more. Luckily for us, my cousin had a friend she happened to mention. What's meant to be and all that!
What I didn't expect was someone so good at her job, able to bring our relationship to life in front of our friends and family. Jess took the time to get to know us as a couple. We chatted over video (for far too long, sorry Jess!) and filled out her questions. She came up with great ideas for getting everyone involved and things we might like, and I'm fairly sure we took her up on most of them.
I remember when she first sent over the script for us to read through and for the first time it really hit us, wow, this is real, we're getting married. It's quite a surreal moment.
What we ended up with was personal and funny, and it brought everyone together. People didn't just come to a wedding, they were part of one. Jess has a lovely way about her that keeps things light and relaxed, to the point where she was practically counselling us through some bits!
If you just want someone to get you to "I do", go with anyone. If you want a ceremony that truly means something, go with Jess. Thank you.

The biggest thank you!!
We are so grateful to Jess for being our celebrant for our wedding at Ashling Park on 30th July. 🤍
We had a few video calls with Jess before the wedding, where we got to tell her all about us — how Josh and I met and fell in love, having our son, and all the little adventures and memories we’ve shared along the way over the last 10 years!
She then took everything we told her and turned it into the most beautiful ceremony. It was so personal to us and honestly written so beautifully. Hearing our story told back to us in front of all of our favourite people was such a special moment.
Our guests absolutely loved the ceremony too, and so many people commented afterwards on how lovely and personal it was.
Jess was such a lovely person to have as part of our day, and we genuinely couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She is a beautiful human, and we will always be so grateful for everything she put into making our ceremony so special. 🤍

Wonderfully Personal Ceremony
Jess conducted an amazing ceremony that perfectly captured us as a couple. She made us feel at ease throughout the process and on the day. We picked a celebrant lead ceremony because we wanted it to feel more about us and throughout the day so many people complimented just how much the ceremony felt like us. We couldn’t recommend her more!

Wedding of our Dreams, Thank you Jess
Jess exceeded all our expectations and truly created the wedding of our dreams. We are both in our 60's and wanted a ceremony that truly reflected our love for one another and the fun we have together whilst also being personal and meaningful. From our first meeting with Jess it was clear that we were in good hands, and that she obviously loves her role as humanist celebrant. Jess was extremely easy to work with , she was always available to answer our many questions, give suggestions and to support us. The script Jess produced was absolutely perfect. We held our ceremony in a field at home surrounded by our friends and family, it was the happiest day of our lives. Many many guests have since remarked that it was the best wedding they had ever been to and that they loved the Ceremony. Thank you Jess Kathy and David xx

Jess is special
When we were looking for a celebrant, we scoured site after site. And then found Jess.
We sourced a lot of our suppliers on the same rule - do we like them and do we want to share the biggest day of our lives with them? Well, Jess was one of the easiest decisions we made.
From chatting on Zoom and then meeting up for a drink and a good natter about us as a couple, Jess was lovely, friendly and welcoming in the extreme.
She heard what we were like, gauged our sense of humour and our dynamic and echoed, mirrored and amplified the right parts at the right time on the day.
Jess brings an energy money can’t buy and is a presence you’ll be grateful for. We certainly are!
She was an integral part of our day and the vibe we wanted to build. Thank you Jess! Lots of love, the Poveys x

Jess makes your special day the most memorable ever!
Jess began the process for us with a video call as we live some distance away. From that moment we both knew that our choice of Celebrant was spot on!
The level of detail which Jess wove into our Wedding ceremony showed an extraordinary level of intuition and empathy which had Jade and I shedding years of joy at the first reading.

Couldn’t have done it without Jess!
The perfect day. The ceremony was such a vital part for me and my husband, we wanted to get it right. Jess was the perfect celebrant; her energy is so comforting and it is clear she loves being a celebrant. She dedicated time to get to know us and really brought all the little details to the day. It was like a friend was marrying us, we’re so grateful for Jess and making our day so special.

The perfect celebrant!
Jess was an amazing celebrant from start to finish. She took the time to really get to know us and crafted the perfect ceremony that was tailored completely to us and our story. On the day she captured the laid back energy we wanted for our service, and also hung around afterwards to chat to some our guests, which we really loved. Can't recommend Jess highly enough! She was truly 10/10.

Maddie & James wedding
Jess took so much time and care crafting such a personalised, wonderful and relaxed experience for us. We had such a great time for the entire ceremony, and we spent so much time watching the ceremony video back just saying to each other 'we want to do it again!'.
