Father of the Bride Speech Examples

Reading previous speeches posted here helped me immensely and gave me a great steer on how my speech should be delivered. My only advice to any Father reading out his speech is take your time and don't rush through your reading of the speech, as you want to do your daughter proud. It feels hard to think you can enjoy the speech but if you can the delivery will come out so much better, and when you reflect on the wedding in the coming days you will be very happy with your efforts I'm sure!

I decided to upload my speech as the site was a great inspiration to me when thinking about what I should say. The day was fantastic and I got a lot of compliments about the speech. It was a complete surprise to everyone including my wife as I didn't want anyone to influence me in what I said. thanks again to all the previous Father's of the Bride who were my saviour.

With ad libs etc this speech was 29 mins 11 seconds long. It was timed and we raised £150 for charity with guests drawing 15 second time slots.

It took me nearly 11 months and many many revisions to arrive at the final version of this speech but I would do the same again if I ever have to speak publicly again. It changed so many times and eventually became the personal statement that I really wanted with a few of the original ideas borrowed from hitched left in. But I feel by starting early and going back to it over a period of time helped me get it into shape.
