It's a good idea to start planning your honeymoon seven to nine months before your wedding. This will give you time to purchase flights, and get relevant vaccines, passports and visas in order.

The average honeymoon lasts 7 to 9 days, but can also be longer or shorter. In general, the farther you travel the longer your honeymoon should be, that way you don't spend the entire honeymoon with jetlag. You'll also have to include travel days and take into consideration whether you'll be traveling to different destinations during the honeymoon to make sure you have calm days to just sip a cocktail and enjoy your quality time together.

Once you've booked your honeymoon you can begin making a list of items to pack for your honeymoon. A great place to start is with your wardrobe. Check what the weather is going to be like and pack accordingly. That said, weather can be incredibly unpredictable, so even if you're going to a tropical island, pack an umbrella and if you're going someplace cold, don't forget sunglasses!
