I recently got married at the Upper House and had the most fantastic day. Ellie and her team could did a first class job and I could not have asked for more. They were extremely professional making sure that everything went like clockwork.
The food was delicious and all of my guests commented on the beautiful venue and the lovely staff.
Everything I asked for they did and more.
I would recommend this venue to any future bride as its a real home from home in beautiful surroundings.

The perfect wedding venue!
We feel so privileged and grateful to have celebrated our wedding at The Upper House. From the moment we first saw the venue, we completely fell in love with its charm and beauty. The resident cat was a delightful addition!
Throughout the entire planning process, nothing was ever too much trouble. The team were always kind, responsive, and genuinely invested in making our day special.
The wedding day itself was flawless. Everything ran so smoothly thanks to the exceptional management by Keeley. She was absolutely amazing, attentive, organised, and thoughtful in every way. She went above and beyond, taking care of even the smallest details we hadn’t thought of. Thanks to her, the whole day was seamless, relaxed, and completely stress-free.
The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and received glowing compliments from all of our guests. The venue itself is stunning, from the picturesque grounds to the elegant interiors, and especially the beautiful bridal suite.
We honestly can’t fault The Upper House in any way. Thank you to the entire team for making our wedding day so special and truly unforgettable. We couldn’t have wished for anything more. -

Everything about this day was perfect and a lot of it was down to the upper house being so attentive and helpful. The value for money is amazing. All the guests complimented the venue and the food. Any questions I heard they were happy to answer and nothing was ever too much for them. There’s so many photo opportunities and options of where you can actually have your ceremony. Although it rained all day on our wedding day, there was still so many beautiful photo opportunities. -

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our wedding. From the moment we decided that was there, we felt so cared for by Ellie and the staff. The Upper House Hotel at Barlaston was absolutely beautiful and created the most magical backdrop for our day. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and we truly felt supported every step of the way. Our family and friends are still telling us how gorgeous everything was! We’ll always be grateful to The Upper House at Barlaston for giving us such wonderful memories!!!

Wow, just wow! We found the Upper House in 2023 recently after getting engaged. As soon as we visited this venue, we knew we didn’t need to look elsewhere, as this was THE PLACE. Throughout our engagement the venue were always on hand, welcoming with open arms and supportive all the way. We couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to get married here! Not only was the value for money absolutely incredible, nothing was too much for the venue! Our day was everything we could have wished for AND MORE! Ellie, Caitlin and the team were outstanding from start to finish. The food was incredible, our outdoor ceremony was perfect and our guests loved every second! The venue was beautifully presented, the canapés were delicious and the team worked seamlessly in the background! We would recommend this place to anyone getting married. Thank you 1,000 times over for the most perfect wedding day. The Upper House is an incredibly special place. THANK YOU! -

We got married at The Upper House in April 2025 and had the most incredible experience. From the moment we arrived the night before, everything was perfect. We had a delicious meal and a really relaxing evening. On the morning of the wedding, the girls enjoyed a fantastic grazing breakfast while getting ready, and the boys had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant too.
Ellie and the entire team went above and beyond to make the day special. They helped set up all of our DIY décor and made the venue look absolutely stunning. Nothing was too much trouble – they were always on hand and so supportive. Ellie kept everything running smoothly throughout the day, from the ceremony music to the timings of the wedding breakfast, which was exceptional. The service was flawless.
We couldn’t have asked for anything more. If you’re considering this venue – do it. The team are amazing, the setting is beautiful, and the whole experience was unforgettable. Thank you, Ellie and the rest of the team at The Upper House!The Upper House Hotel's reply:

A day we will never forget!
Where to start with this beautiful venue. The breathtaking surroundings originally sold it for us. The Upper House felt so tranquil, calm, yet still had class. The rooms were light, airy and spacious. The orangery being our favourite room, had to be where we had our first meal as man and wife. It felt so relaxed, but also structured and organised. This leads me on to the food. What a delight!! Our guests were blown away with the meal they all received. The appearance, the flavour and table service was honestly 10 out of 10. To this day we still get wonderful feed back from our guests saying "how well we were fed" and what a treat is was.
Now on to the staff. We couldn't of asked for a better team. Ellie, Sam and Caitlyn, just to name a few. From our first visit, to when we checked out of our room the morning after getting hitched. They truly spoilt us. The support and guidance I received whilst planning our wedding was so heartwarming. If I had any questions (big or small) I'd always received a response putting my mind at ease. We were genuinely sad when the celebrations were over and we said goodbye to a wonderful team. All this being said we will return again in the coming months to enjoy some food and drink in this absolute beauty spot! The perfect wedding
Jack and I had our wedding at The Upper House in April 2025 and we truly had the perfect day.
When it came to the planning, nothing was too much hassle for Ellie and the team. Despite all the emails I sent to help plan out the big day, all my emails were replied to in a timely manner and I felt very taken care of.
We had the pleasure of staying at The Upper House the night before the wedding meaning we had an extra night to enjoy the beautiful rooms and stunning views on offer.
Jack and I got married at Keele Chapel and returned to The Upper House to enjoy the rest of our special day. Caitlin, Jo and the team were seamless in their service and which meant we were able to fully relax and enjoy it.
We decided not to attend a food tasting as we don't live local and we had heard such great reviews of the food and I have to say, The Upper House absolutely lived up to those reviews. The food was delicious and enjoyed by everybody. We were also able to choice 3 options for our guests to choose from as part of our package.
The weather meant that all of our guests were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens and it meant Jack and I were able to get some stunning photos on the grounds.
By the evening reception, we were all having so much fun and it really capped off the perfect day. I didn't even get to try the buffet as I was too busy dancing but I was told by my guests that the food was really nice!
Overall, we would 100% recommend The Upper House as wedding venue. They truly excelled in every aspect making our day everything we wanted it to be.

The most perfect day
From the first time I spoke to Ellie regarding the possibility of a small, intimate wedding at the Upper House, I found her extremely approachable and professional. There were only 12 of us in total, but that didn't mean that Ellie was not dedicated to making it the perfect day for us. Whenever, I contacted her regarding any queries, if she was not available there and then, she always got back to me promptly.
The Upper House is a historical building in a beautiful setting with a dedicated team determined to make your special day run smoothly. As there were only 12 of us, we hired the Darwin room for the wedding ceremony and the wedding breakfast, but on the day, the weather was glorious, so we were able to move the ceremony and the welcome drinks and canapes to the outside, which made it even more special. We went in to the Darwin room for the wedding breakfast which was of high quality and everyone said how delicious the food was.
We didn't have an evening reception, but as the weather was so good, we were able to continue our celebrations back outside.
We had the luxury suite, which was extremely sumptious, for the afternoon and night and had a balcony overlooking the grounds at the back. Prior to the wedding, my friend and I enjoyed pre-wedding drinks sitting out on the balcony taking in the beautiful view.
We had the most perfect day and would highly recommend the Upper House as a wedding venue. Hopefully, we will be going back to celebrate our anniversary in September. -
