My husband and I cannot recommend this venue enough. Waverley, Amy-Lou and Rachel - we thank you so much. The venue is absolutely stunning and our guests still talk about it. It was perfect for the intimate and rustic wedding that we truly wanted and we had a fantastic party in the evening!! The staff were so attentive, accommodating and professional from our very first viewing to the wedding day. We felt as though we were in safe hands the entire time. I hope I have the pleasure of being a guest next time I’m at this precious gem of a venue. -

Choosing The Pilgrim’s Rest for our wedding was one of the easiest and best decisions we made.
We knew early on what we didn’t want: a venue that felt ostentatious or impersonal. What we were looking for was somewhere with real history and character, striking but still cosy, a space that would feel full and intimate without hosting a huge wedding.
On a cold January day, we visited The Pilgrim’s Rest and immediately knew we had found it. The atmosphere was inviting rather than formal, and there was something special about celebrating in a building where people have been gathering and marking milestones for hundreds of years.
Battle itself added so much to the experience. It’s a fun, quirky little town, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Abbey ruins. Being able to have all our guests stay nearby, just a stone’s throw from the venue, made the weekend feel relaxed and enjoyable. It also made getting ready on the morning of the wedding one of our favourite parts of the day, as we could wander over casually, take our time, and soak in the atmosphere, which set the perfect tone for everything that followed.
Waverley and Amy were fantastic throughout, answering our many questions with care, nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Their recommended list of local suppliers was invaluable and made the daunting process of wedding planning much easier to manage.
What we loved most was how flexible the venue was. As a dry-hire space, we could choose our own suppliers and really put our stamp on the day, making it unique and entirely personal. It felt completely right for us and reflected exactly the kind of celebration and atmosphere we wanted.
We are so grateful we chose The Pilgrim’s Rest and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a venue with genuine character and history. We chose it not just for the day itself, but because it’s a place we can return to in the future to remember the day and revisit those memories. While tidying up the next morning, we met a couple who had been married there years before who had returned to do just that; we feel privileged to be part of her history. -

The dream wedding venue
The Pilgrims Rest is the single best wedding venue in the world and has the single best team running it ❤️ From the instant we found the venue online it felt like the perfect venue for us, and going to visit confirmed that feeling tenfold. Once we decided on Pilgrims all our other plans felt like they fell into place easily.
Waverley and Amy were a joy to work with; always enthusiastic about all our plans and willing to roll with the unconventional (board games, pass the parcel and a David Tennant scavenger hunt). They helped conceptualise how things would work in the space and provided countless insights into how we could make the day work for us. Not to mention, they’re just the coolest people ever and we love them.
The venue itself is a beautiful space for an intimate wedding. It’s an incredibly cosy, welcoming space with a magic that holds you and feels like you’re in another world for the day. The seasonal decorations are breathtaking (and mean you could turn up with nothing and it’d still be a gorgeous day!). The size was perfect for 50 people - we never felt anything was too spread out or too crowded. We both got ready in the larger dressing room space, which was stunning and felt like a cocoon of peace on what could have been a stressful morning.
On the day, the venue staff made everything run so smoothly without us having to think about a thing, they went above and beyond for us and our guests (Amy, you know what you did 😆). We could write hundreds of words about how much we loved working with the team - can’t believe it’s over and we won’t have an excuse to go and visit them anymore. Everything was perfect, our dream venue for our dream wedding. Thank you!!

From the very first moment we set foot at Pilgrims Rest, we knew it was the venue for us. Not only is it a beautiful venue in itself, but it also has the most amazing team behind it Amy and Waverley.
Amy was an absolute angel on the day before and the morning of the wedding. She was so sweet, kind, and attentive. Every detail was taken care of before I even had a chance to worry about it. She has such a natural, calming presence that instantly puts you at ease, and it made the morning feel so relaxed and joyful. I can’t tell you how much that meant having someone so on point and supportive really set the tone for the day.
Waverley was equally incredible. Both she and Amy worked together seamlessly, making everything run like clockwork while still being so warm and genuine. Nothing ever felt rushed or stressful. They somehow managed to take care of every detail behind the scenes while still allowing us to be completely present in the moment. They were professional, organised, and yet so personable and lovely that it honestly felt like having close friends looking after us.
The venue itself is just magical the charm, the atmosphere, the beautiful details everywhere you look. It was intimate, romantic, and so full of character, everything we could have possibly wished for in a wedding venue. Our guests couldn’t stop commenting on how stunning it was, and we feel so lucky to have celebrated our day there.
We couldn’t have asked for more. The venue was perfect, Amy and Waverley went above and beyond, and the whole experience is something we’ll treasure forever. -

We could not have been happier to have chosen The Pilgrims Rest as the venue for our big day. The building is full of history, classic and with character, just what we were looking for! The pictures taken in the getting ready rooms, great hall, and dining room are stunning and they supplied tables/chairs/cake stand, etc. The entire team at The Pilgrims Rest were extremely supportive and friendly during the entire process. Starting from recommending caterers, photographers and bands, to guiding us through on how to prepare for our big day. All the information about the building/rooms/hall was extremely well laid out. The Pilgrims team ensured the day flowed extremely well all according to our schedule (canapes, pictures, food, cake, music, etc). We were well taken care of, and we definitely recommend it! -

My wife and I planned an overseas wedding at The Pilgrims Rest, and we couldn’t be happier with that decision. We were immediately put at ease by the wonderful Amy, who helped us plan our perfect day. She addressed all of our wants/needs/concerns with a can do attitude. She was also was out go to person during the day of the wedding, which added another layer of comfort. She was there every step of the way to ensure everything went smoothly.
I’m sure the rest of the staff is also lovely, but we would of course would highly recommend working with Amy.
The venue itself, I believe, speaks for itself. It’s so charming, and is even more beautiful in person. We had 46 at our wedding, and did not feel cramped at all.
We used all recommended vendors, and are so glad we did. Everyone we used loves working with The Pilgrims Rest, which speaks to their reputation.

Absolutely perfect venue.
From the moment we walked into the building we knew it was the place for us to get married in. We were warmly welcomed by Waverley and Amy who happily gave us a tour and offered advice and suggestions which suited our needs and requirements. The venue was beautifully decorated and we were able to add a few personal touches for our day. There were some nice extra touches which Waverley and her team added on the day which we were thrilled with. Both Waverley and Amy supported us when setting up and when packing things away. Nothing was ever too much for them. We have some wonderful photos in and outside the amazing historic building and had such lovely comments following our special day from our guests who were also delighted to be there. -

If you’re considering the pilgrims rest as a venue for your big day….DO IT! Do not hesitate!! It is honestly the most beautiful and special place, it just has the wow factor as soon as you step inside the gorgeous big wooden front door! It took our breath away and we booked at first sight! First venue we visited too and I am so glad we did! We opted for an Apres Ski themed winter wedding and it was spot on!!! The decor they have in there was beyond perfect and beautiful! Amy & Waverley are just saints! They couldn’t have been any better, the whole wedding party was raving about how hard they worked and always with a smile on their faces! Amy was my main point of contact and she was a star throughout the whole process! Answering my millions of questions and giving very helpful guidance on absolutely anything we needed! She literally made the whole process so less stressful and a lot of fun! We are so so glad we chose the pilgrims rest! Our guests said it was the most amazing day and they adored the venue! Thank you so so much team, we are so grateful for all of your hard work making our day soooo incredible!! From the new Mr & Mrs Harris ❤️ -

The perfect venue for us!
From our first visit to our Wedding Day, Waverley and her team have been a delight to work with. They made sure we could have our magical and perfect day and we certainly did. Everything was perfect (even the weather!) and all our guests loved the venue and the welcoming atmosphere. We couldn't have asked for anything better. -
