Out of this world!

Beautiful venue, amazing staff and they could not have been more helpful during the whole process. Everything we wanted was accommodated with no issues and the grounds are just gorgeous. Thank you so much for making our dream come to life.

A magical day with the support of an amazing team

We planned our wedding remotely as we are now based in Dubai but wanted a local wedding for our families in the UK. The team at South Lodge throughout the whole process from the first call were incredibly helpful and understanding even giving us a walkthrough of the venue over zoom. They were so professional and their attention to detail in the planning process meant that on the day we didn't have to worry about anything and I didn't have to answer any questions from the team we could just focus on getting married and enjoying our time with friends and family. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding venue, they dealt with all of our external vendors seamlessly so it saved me having to deal with lots of different contacts in those final weeks running up to the big day. We now also have a fabulous place to go for our wedding anniversary's.

Thank you South Lodge

We had our wedding at South Lodge in September 2023. We wanted a classic style venue with all the trimmings and that is what was delivered. The staff were very accommodating right from the start and there were various options we could choose for each part of the day. We felt well looked after throughout the planning process and although it took a little time to respond to emails sometimes, it was always well communicated and all the information we needed at each stage. The food was absolutely stunning and is something our guests still talk about. The setting was perfect for the day. We had the ceremony outside and the surroundings were beautiful and well kept. The hotel room was stunning and we wish we could have spent more time there! Our overnight guests loved it too and also felt well looked after. There were personalised thoughts and we received surprise beautiful commemorative gifts for both us and our three children. We couldn't have asked for anything better - thank you so much for such a great day all at South Lodge.

NEY Sparkling Wedding

The team at South Lodge has made the entire experience of planning our wedding very smooth - they were highly attentive to us from start to finish, nothing has ever been an issue. The day itself was flawless simple because they handled everything for us and so we truly got to enjoy our special day - highly recommend! We will cherish the memories and will always look forward to coming back (not just for the anniversaries).

Absolutely perfect!

We had the most perfect wedding day at South Lodge, and Beky and her team played a huge role in making that a reality. The day couldn't have gone any better and we're so happy we chose to have it at South Lodge. The whole team made us feel at ease and well looked after throughout the planning process and wedding weekend. We felt like no request was too much or not possible, and the reassurance that came with was incredible and so needed in the lead up to the day, and the day itself. We were hoping to have our ceremony outside, and the staff were extremely flexible and waited until the very last moment to make that call on day. Thankfully the weather cooperated, and we were so impressed with how smoothly South Lodge was able to run it with little notice. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, but the service really is exceptional. You really will have nothing to worry about. I would do it all over again if I could!

Wedding at South Lodge

We had an unforgettable wedding day at South Lodge Hotel. It is a beautiful venue, but what is more important is that the staff took care of every detail, allowing us to fully enjoy the celebration with our friends and family without any concerns about logistics. On top of that, the afternoon tea and the evening buffet were amazing, and we’re left with such wonderful memories of our special day.

Spectacular occasion, brilliant staff, wonderful venue

We held our blessing and our wedding breakfast at South Lodge Hotel. We could not have been more delighted. It was all very beautiful and emotional.

Everyone on the staff was lovely and couldn’t do enough to help - we felt very looked after. The events team made great suggestions and were responsive, diligent and showed attention to detail in the months during which we were been preparing and making decisions. On the day the management team were very responsive. The food and the food service were fantastic, feeding 80 in a low key way that was also seemingly instant. There was no intrusion, it just all seemed to work. The guests were universally extremely impressed. There were some lovely personal touches. The operation of the wedding on the day was almost flawless.

The event rooms looked amazing, the Gladstone room was spectacular and the Glyndebourne room, where we held the blessing, looked and felt the part. The bedrooms were typically impressive, large, and comfortable.

We felt it was worth every penny. Not everyone can afford to have their wedding at South Lodge, but if you can it's the place.

A pleasure from start to finish

A belated review!

My wife and I have just celebrated our first wedding anniversary, which makes it about a year since Elaine ‘delegated’ the responsibility of writing a review of South Lodge, the venue for our special day, to me.

We are fortunate that we live in an area with no shortage of beautiful venues, and my bride-to-be soon collated a list of potential candidates. Over the next month or so, I diligently chauffeured Elaine to many places, and we eventually narrowed the choice down to three venues. We visited Lizzie and the team at South Lodge, and at once were made to feel special. Not the most inexpensive venue to get married at, we viewed the others, but Elaine’s heart was set on South Lodge. Not for the first time, and as every husband will understand, I have to say she was right!

From the initial discussions Lizzie was attentive to our needs which included investigating the possibility of Leni, our 2-year-old lively Labrador Retriever, attending the wedding. We were so lucky that Lizzie has a Lab of her own and offered to look after her for the Wedding Day herself!

We were walked through the process, our requirements gathered, and arrangements made seamlessly. We had a tasting menu to select our food and drink choices. The menu choices were all delicious, partnered with excellent wine pairings.

We also were shown the rooms, as we had some family and friends from overseas attending. All were a really high standard.

Finally, all the arrangements were made, and it seemed as if it was effortless. Probably because for me it was, as Elaine and Lizzie did all of the hard graft!

The Wedding Day.

Although in early August, there are no guarantees on the weather in England, but South Lodge were prepared for that, with the outside wedding area set up but also an indoor room held in reserve just in case. Luckily for us the weather was glorious, so outside it was.

It was extremely hot, which for those of us waiting in the blazing sun for nearly an hour for the bride to turn up was a challenge. But just as we were about to give up and go an enjoy the fine fare on offer, she arrived, looking radiant. With our guests, including Lizzie and Leni the Labrador, we made our vows. Lots of joking and laughter, outside surrounded by views of the beautiful views of the South Downs and the grand South Lodge building the ceremony itself was joyous. Fine English sparkling wine flowed, followed by the wedding breakfast and celebrations.

The food was superb, the drink flowed for our 100 guests, who had traveled far and wide to share our special day. In the evening another 35 friends arrived, along with more fine food and drink.

We eventually retired to the wedding suite, after a long and raucous evening. Fun was had by all.

From the initial arrangements, preparation and our wedding, the South Lodge team made sure our day was truly special. I haven’t even mentioned the spa and facilities, which I am told by my wife are wonderful!

We can’t thank the South Lodge team, especially Lizzie, for making our day unforgettable.

The perfect venue

We can’t recommend south lodge enough - This truly was the most perfect venue for our day. Every step from booking to the actual wedding day was amazing. We were treated so kindly and all the staff were genuinely so happy and excited to help bring our dream wedding come to reality. Our day ran perfectly with no hiccups at all - all thanks to the immaculate communication and staff. Thank you everyone at south lodge for our fairytale day!

Our wedding day

We had such a special day getting married at south Lodge hotel. We had one of their intimate packages with 30 guests. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with ideas for our day. The day could not of been anymore perfect. Thank you again. Memories to last a lifetime!
