We fell in love with the venue as soon as we saw it! We felt that the venue spoke for itself, so wouldn’t need a lot of “dressing” which suited our budget in order for us to afford the venue. However it looks equally as beautiful when dressed with a high budget.
The staff were all so helpful and responded quick to enquiries. Planning felt easy as there wasn’t much to remember/ do as there was a variety of recommended suppliers to get us started and dates for payment etc were simply set out for us.
Only critique is that the booked couples event to sample food and drink is an additional cost. We felt that when you are spending a lot of money having a wedding at a particular venue, it should be included to sample the food you are going to be offering to your guests. Also the lodge isn’t the most competitively priced for the area to hire and there’s an additional charge for additional beds in the “family” rooms, which I did feedback directly at the time.

We had the most incredible wedding at Rivervale Barn and would absolutely recommend the venue. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful wedding venues we have ever seen, and the setting, atmosphere and thoughtful layout made our day feel incredibly special.
One of the things we loved most was the flow of the venue. Having the courtyard, tables and dancefloor all connected meant that everyone could be together in the evening, whether they wanted to dance or simply sit and chat. The bar is also in a fantastic location, and it felt like a lot of thought had gone into how the different spaces work together. The ceremony room is beautiful and light, with the windows at the back creating such a lovely setting, and the gardens looked stunning on the day.
The Cornstore Barn was a gorgeous place to have our morning preparations and take photos, and it was incredibly special to stay there on our first night as husband and wife. We also really appreciated the little touches at the end of the evening, particularly the catering team leaving some of our wedding cake for us and packing away our belongings. Those things made such a difference after a very long day!
A huge shout-out has to go to the catering team, particularly Maribelle and Andy, who went above and beyond for us. The canapés, three-course meal and evening pizza were all out of this world, and so many of our guests commented on the food. The crème brûlée in particular was a huge hit and was complimented by lots of our guests!
Our events manager, Natasha, also worked incredibly hard to make our day special. As we aren't local, we couldn't always attend things in person, and Natasha joined us on countless Zoom calls and was always willing to help with our questions and requests. She did a fantastic job of keeping everything running smoothly and to time throughout the day, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our wedding rather than worrying about what was happening behind the scenes.
We also really appreciated Rivervale's recommended supplier list. Knowing that the suppliers had worked together before gave us a lot of confidence, and it really did help everything run smoothly on the day. A particular shout-out goes to Senior Mac Photography, who were absolutely fantastic. Not only did they take incredible photos, but they also stepped in on countless occasions outside of their role as photographers — including helping the bride into her dress when there was an issue with the alterations and generally helping to make sure everything stayed on track. We would hugely recommend them!
There were, however, a few things that we found frustrating and that we think future couples should be aware of. The accommodation arrangements were disappointing for some of our guests. Guests who had paid a significant amount to stay in the lodge weren't able to access their rooms until 3pm, despite our ceremony starting at 2pm and them needing time to get ready. This meant some guests had to use part of the reception to go and put their belongings into their rooms. Breakfast being served between 8–9am also felt very early after a wedding. Interestingly, guests who stayed at a nearby hotel for considerably less money had earlier check-in and later check-out, which was disappointing given the cost of the on-site accommodation.
We also found some of the venue's rules around where guests could and couldn't go at different points during the day quite restrictive. We completely understand that a venue needs rules to keep everything running safely and smoothly, but at times it felt a little limiting, particularly given that we had paid a significant amount to have exclusive use of the venue.
Similarly, the groom loved the new shepherd's hut as a space to get ready in, but felt he was ushered out of it quite quickly in the morning. It would have been really helpful to be able to leave some belongings there overnight and collect them the following morning, rather than having to arrange for everything to be left in someone's car. This added a little unnecessary stress on what was already a busy morning.
That said, these frustrations didn't take away from what was ultimately a truly wonderful wedding day. Rivervale Barn is a stunning venue, the food was exceptional, the gardens and spaces looked beautiful, and the team worked incredibly hard to keep everything running smoothly. Our guests loved the atmosphere and the way the venue allowed everyone to feel together throughout the evening.
We are so grateful to everyone at Rivervale Barn, especially Natasha, Maribelle and Andy, for everything they did to help make our wedding so special. It was a beautiful place to celebrate our marriage, and we will always have incredibly fond memories of our day there. ❤️Rivervale Barn's reply:

The venue is absolutely stunning, we both fell in love the moment we viewed it and are so happy to have had our wedding there.
The team were absolutely amazing in the wedding planning process, really made the whole journey easier knowing that everything was being handled.

Incredible venue!!
My new wife and I got married here a few weeks ago and we both absolutely loved the whole experience. From the moment we arrived at Rivervale to have a look around before booking we felt it was the perfect location for our day. Everyone we met there was professional and friendly, even meeting the owners when they were putting the finishing touches to the on site accommodation shortly before it opened; who asked if we liked the décor and if we had any ideas for it! (we didn't, it's beautiful)
Marie was our event manager and she was fantastic. She made sure that everything we wanted to happen on the day did, and made our lives so easy. Neither myself or my wife felt any stress in the lead up or on the day itself. During the day Marie and the rest of the team responded professionally and with care to our guests' needs which we, and they, are very grateful for.
The barn itself is an amazing space, and the three separate areas really helped the day flow as we weren't having to rush out of the space for it to be reset for the next part of the day. We used the ceremony room rather than the Spinnery (outdoor space) to get married, as it is such an amazing space and suited what we wanted perfectly. The gardens are fantastic and gave us the perfect backdrop for the day and our photographs.
The food was incredible! The canapes were beautifully presented and tasted great, and we loved that a special plate of them made their way to us while we were having our photos done! The wedding breakfast food was even better. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was nearly a month after the event. It was professionally brought out to us and our guests and looked like it belonged in a fine dining restaurant. The way the catering team dealt with allergens was fantastic, ensuring that the correct meal ended up with the correct guest, and double checking their allergies before service had begun.
During the evening, the team running the bar kept the drinks flowing, were smiling, friendly and chatty with our guests; and check in with us to make sure we were enjoying our evening.
We stayed that night in the cottage and were provided with breakfast. When departing the staff working that morning checked in with us to make sure that we, and our guests had the best day.
We would 100% recommend Rivervale to any prospective couples. It was the perfect venue for us to start our married life together.Rivervale Barn's reply:

My husband and I got married here last week and feel so lucky to have been able to do so!! The team at Rivervale Barn were absolutely incredible throughout the whole process, making sure we both felt comfortable with the plans and knew exactly what we were signing up for!! The venue itself is absolutely stunning and we were able to organise for our bridal party to stay on site with us in their beautiful lodge.
We wanted to say a special thank you to Daniel, our event manager, who truly did go above and beyond for us when it came to planning and the actual day! He even helped me organise a surprise cheese stack cake for my husband! I felt so calm and relaxed on my wedding morning, and a lot of this is thanks to feeling entirely prepared because of Daniel and his team.

My wife and I got married in February this year and we couldn't have had a more perfect day. The venue was as spellbinding as when we visited, and everything ran like clockwork. Marie was sensational, on hand for every little thing, she made us feel very calm across the day and we were able to enjoy things knowing the great hands we were in. We used venue approved suppliers and a lovely touch was seeing how nicely everyone got on between each other, we just felt secure and that was the platform for an incredibly wedding.
