My wife and I had the most magical wedding day at Old Palace. This is a BEAUTIFUL venue with the loveliest staff. Gemma was our events manager from start to finish and she was honestly a pleasure to deal with. My best man has celiac disease and she was constantly on hand to make sure he was looked after with gluten free food all day, from arrival canapés to evening food. He's subsequently told me that he couldn't fault the service he received.
We'd set up a projector in the ballroom to show video messages from people who couldn't attend the wedding, but we weren't able to connect the audio properly, so it looked like nobody would be able to hear it. We needed a saviour. Step forward, Vee, who managed to connect my MacBook to Old Palace's sound system and save the day! Thank you, Vee, you're a hero!
Zack and the guys behind the bar were great too. So was the food. So was everything! I could not recommend this place more highly. It's stunning in every way!Old Palace Chester's reply:

I don’t even know where to start…the venue is absolutely out of this world, the details and personality behind this venue are insane. The staff can’t do enough for you. A huge thank you to Lauren, she made our wedding. Nothing was ever too much, she wouldn't let us lift a finger. The food was absolutely amazing. Our day was better than we ever expected it to be, which the venue and staff have a lot to do with. Nothing is ever too much to ask. Would highly recommend this stunning venue along with the wonderful staff they have! Thank you so much for making our day memorable. We’re sad it’s over and now a memory! From the moment we first viewed the Old Palace, we knew this place was where we wanted to get married. And the bridal suite was just the cherry on the cake.
The palace is just beautiful. The decor, the location. All of our guests commented on the beauty of the Old Palace.
Gemma was our wedding coordinator and she was just amazing. She checked in with us throughout and nothing was too much trouble. She made sure the day ran perfectly. All of the staff were so friendly and always on hand to help.
Our whole day was just a dream and we would love to do it all again. We are so thankful to the whole team at the Palace for making our wedding day the most unforgettable and incredible day. We loved every single moment.

We recently married at the Old Palace, Chester and it surpassed all our expectations in every way. What an amazing venue! We wanted a venue that offered great outdoor space as well as indoor space just in case the great British weather decided to take a turn for the worse.
The whole process from the initial visit and to all the finer details was seamless. Our coordinator Lauren was amazing, she guided us through from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble, every little detail and more was thought of and covered off. The planning process was very easy and stress-free. On the day itself, Lauren and her team were exceptional, every aspect was coordinated perfectly which allowed us just to relax and enjoy our day.
The Old Palace is the perfect venue with a perfect team both in front and behind the scenes who will ensure you have the best day ever.
We cannot recommend the Old Palace Chester highly enough.

Perfect Venue
We genuinely could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day, and that is all thanks to the incredible team at Old Palace Chester.
From start to finish, the whole experience was absolutely amazing. Every single member of staff went above and beyond to make sure our day was everything we had hoped for and more — especially Lauren, who was simply phenomenal throughout the entire process.
The team had thought of absolutely everything, and the entire day ran so smoothly. As someone who is highly organised, it meant so much to be able to fully relax and enjoy every moment knowing we were in such safe hands and that our vision would come together exactly as we wanted.
Our guests had the most fantastic experience, and so many commented on how attentive, friendly, and professional all the staff were throughout the day.
The food was absolutely OUTSTANDING. They catered perfectly to everyone’s dietary requirements and preferences, and even included some of our personal favourite desserts, which made everything feel so thoughtful and personal.
The venue itself is simply stunning — beautiful rooms, gorgeous interiors, and the riverside location makes it even more special.
We truly cannot thank the team enough for everything they did for us. Old Palace Chester is an incredible wedding venue, and we would recommend it to absolutely anyone looking for the perfect place to celebrate their day.

The perfect venue
We got married at the Old Palace in December and had the most unforgettable day that ran so smoothly. Nicola originally showed us around and we were sold straight away. We felt it was the perfect venue for our winter wedding as it had multiple indoor areas for different parts of the day.
Lauren was our wedding coordinator and was fantastic, she made the whole day stress-free. The food was exquisite and service was extremely professional. We went off-menu for our evening food and it was delicious. Zac from the bar is super friendly and even helped us with our prosecco spray photo.
The morning room was the perfect backdrop to get ready in and the bridal suite is incredible. A few of our guests stayed over and we all enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. We couldn't have asked for a better day and we wish we could do it all over again.

Our Dream Wedding at The Old Palace Chester
The Old Palace Chester is stunning, tucked away behind the city walls and almost hidden in the middle of Chester city. It feels like a real secret gem. The views over the river are gorgeous, and every single room and space we used was beautifully presented with so much attention to detail. It created the perfect atmosphere for the whole weekend, and our guests didn’t stop complimenting how beautiful the palace was. I didn't want to leave.
The food was incredible from start to finish, from the chilled pizza night the evening before, to the wedding breakfast, and then the evening BBQ. Everything tasted amazing, and the quality was consistent for everyone, which so many guests commented on.
But what really made the whole experience unforgettable was the staff. Every single person was genuinely invested in making our day special, and everyone was so friendly. The cleaners even stopped working to watch me walk down in my dress after chatting with me the day before, such a small moment, but it meant so much. We wanted the whole day to feel warm and relaxed, and the staff played a huge part in creating that atmosphere.
Anne Marie, who helped in the morning, was calm, organised and made everything run smoothly. Zak on the bar went above and beyond for everyone, he even grabbed a Red Bull for a family member when he saw him flagging. Just so lovely to have that level of care for guests. Gemma, the events manager on the day, was impeccable. Her attention to detail was unreal, and she went out of her way to make sure both myself and Mark had everything we needed. As master of ceremonies she kept guests in the loop, but always in such a friendly way. Nicola and Lex, in the lead-up, was amazing, always flexible, always helpful, and genuinely lovely to deal with. The waiting staff at the wedding breakfast were so attentive that guests were still talking about them afterwards. The food service honestly felt like being in a real palace. One lovely young waitress looked after us and she was so polite and kind.
You can really tell that the whole team work so well together, it makes such a difference. They created the most beautiful, memorable experience for us, within the most beautiful and memorable setting and we’re so grateful for everything they did. From the minute you enter to even look around you are looked after so well any questions you have they answer if they don’t know the answer there and then they’ll make sure to email or call you back . Booking process was really easy . You could go and visit all the time with friends and family or photographer. They were always on hand ,The day of our wedding they work so seamlessly behind the scene you don’t even know they’re there. Anything and everything’s been done if you need anything I’ll be there to help you and making sure your guest have drinks the food is out in time and everyone’s just having a really good time. Food was absolutely amazing cocktails out of this world. The night time we had pizza which was a really hit . We had our wedding on the 4th of November 2024 and a year later so we’re still in a bubble over how amazing our venue and our day went. It was all thanks to his amazing team our old Palace everything they did was above and beyond and we’ll always be grateful for everything they did for us . Was definitely worth the money.
