Lancrigg is a true gem in the lakes!It is simply a phenomenal venue that I would highly recommend.
The staff are brilliant, you can make it truly your own, the rooms are all unique and amazing and the overall flexibility is very high- this is not a cookie cutter place.
We hosted a bank holiday weekend wedding and did all sorts....we managed to fit in walking, wild swimming, afternoon tea, played croquet on the lawn, jenga and all the garden games, had a firepit at the wedding, pizza party, drinks reception.... cocktails.. epic breakfast.. a lovely casual lunch and coffee &cake... golf... church wedding... and our dog could attend it all!
Guests can walk into the village easily to explore the lakes, the scenery is stunning and a fabulous list of suppliers who can help cater to all your needs

When we viewed Lancrigg we were captivated by the view and knew immediately it was the wedding venue for us - with us drawing up the paperwork while we were still in the carpark at our viewing... And we were not disappointed.
The stunning location speaks for itself and, with plenty of onsite accommodation and a beautiful wedding barn for the reception, the Lancrigg is uniquely both a fairytale location and a home away from home. Simon and Alison were attentive in the lead up, answering our many questions. With Simon building a new secret wardrobe door onto the Azalea room just in time for our wedding, its safe to say they went above and beyond.
On to the wedding itself...the Lancrigg gave us the freedom to make our wedding our own. We had some outlandish requests including a South African welcome braai, confetti cannons on the dancefloor and a firework display deployed using walkie talkies. They let us do our thing and delivered it all. With many of our guests saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to, we know that a lot of this is due to the Lancrigg's wraparound catering, stunning location, and flexibility. The baby Guinness shots may have helped a bit too.
Sereen, who works there, was a real vibe the whole weekend, juggling a million things, and lifting the atmosphere while cooking for us at the same time.
It was the best weekend of our lives. If we could, we'd do it all over again tomorrow.Lancrigg's reply:

Such an amazing day! This venue is absolutely gorgeous and so unique!! We are a couple from the lake District and we had considered many places, however this one was so unique with so many different parts for people to chill!
We booked the venue Fri to Sunday and when we turned up on Friday they just told me the place is yours! I got to decorate and everything before the rush off the wedding day. It rained most off the day but we still got the best pictures! And I loved that they had umbrellas everywhere for us to use! The barn is absolutely gorgeous and everyone commented on how beautiful it was. Simon and Alison were also fabulous at dealing with my extreme unorganisation 😅 as someone who cannot organise anything they make it so easy. And the staff that we had were EPIC! Really helped with everything and it could not off come off without them.
All in all I fully recommend the Lancrigg for a wedding! You won't get anything else like it xx
Also, side note, my son is non verbal and autistic and the venue worked so well for him with many places for him to go that were quietLancrigg's reply:

Amazing venue - would highly recommend!
The perfect venue, a beautiful setting (even in the rain), and an amazing team of staff! The team are very responsive, organised, flexible & keen to help with any request. We loved that Lancrigg has the option for you & a number of your guests to stay, it felt like we were celebrating for the weekend rather than just the day. The venue is intimate & there’s lots of different spaces to use, which was perfect for us considering the labile weather. We were able to put a stretch tent up on the lawn which meant we could still get married outside despite the rain. The barn is perfect for food & it only takes about 30/45mins for this to be changed for dancing. We were able to put a food van behind the house which worked really well. Jack Sent on 26/02/2026An Enchanted Day We’ll Never Forget
Our wedding day couldn't have gone any better, the venue is perfect. The outdoor ceremony had the most beautiful backdrop. We had a 2-night stay with access to the entire place which really helped the entire weekend feel calm & stress-free, added with the service from all of the staff from start to finish helped everything run smoothly. Prior to the wedding, Lancrigg set up a group chat for us to ask any questions leading up the big day, this was massively useful & their responses were always fast & helpful. We fell lucky with the weather & got 22 degrees sun for the entire day. The isolated location really gave us that fairy-tale feeling & we loved that we didn't have to worry about other people walking though. All of the rooms are unbelievable, especially the barn rooms, we had the grooms party staying in the barn rooms & the bride party separate in the main building, which helped build the atmosphere for our day. It was the best day of our lives & we wouldn't have changed a thing. The price at first did feel quite high, but looking back & thinking of the amazing time that everybody had, the price was more than worth it. There were a couple of items that we didn't know weren't included (cutlery for the wedding breakfast for example), we didn't ask directly when we came to view the venue, however one bit of constructive criticism is to maybe let us know from the very beginning of some items that are / aren't included, for us we had never been to a wedding before so we didn't fully understand how many things are separate. The pictures are stunning, the wedding guests have told us on many occasions its the best venue they have ever seen & we are already planning on staying over later this year for our anniversary!Lancrigg's reply:

When we first got shown around the Lancrigg by Simon we knew the venue was special. The setting at the foot of helm crag is phenomenal and we knew that even in the worst weather the venue and surrounding fells would still look incredible. Simon and Alison were on hand from day 1 of booking right up to the big day itself to answer questions and provide advice.
The Venue itself is incredible, the rooms are all lovely, the barn is beautiful as well as the common areas of the main house. We used the lounge for the bridal party to get ready in and the lighting was perfect. The bridal suite- silverhowe, was also a stunning room with a lovely window overlooking the grasmere fells.
The Lancrigg gave us a perfect amount of independence to choose our suppliers, theme, venue dressing/decorations etc whilst still getting the support of an amazing team of staff as well as their own catering in the evening as well. We styled the barn with an autumnal theme which looked lovely. On the day the staff ensured that things were running smoothly and were always on hand to support us with anything we needed. I think the real testament to the Lancrigg is the feedback we got from our guests afterwards. Nearly everyone commented on how friendly and helpful the staff at the Lancrigg were. Everyone loved the mountain views and a lot of compliments were made about the pizza in the evening!
We loved being able to have our friends and family all staying on site in the beautiful rooms at the Lancrigg or at the handy airBnB next door which allowed us to accommodate all of our day guests. It made the whole weekend feel like a celebration!Lancrigg's reply:

The greatest day!
We knew the Lancrigg was our dream wedding venue when we were shown around by Simon. Simon is the most relaxed and calming person you will ever meet and that is what you need for a wedding. What drew us to the Lancrigg was the beautiful surroundings, the ability to have the whole place to offer as a place to stay for some of our guests and the option to get married inside or outside (dependent on the weather). Once we had chosen the venue, we had regular contact with Alison regarding timings and suppliers at our wedding. They do have recommended suppliers to help you to start your wedding planning. As a couple, we wanted a more personal wedding and to do most things ourselves and the Lancrigg are probably one of the fewer venues to allow you to personalise your day. The hotel rooms were beautiful, very clean and the cooked breakfast was a major hit alongside the buffet the night before. The pizzas that they cooked as our evening food were commented on as the best pizza people had ever tasted- even one of our friends said this after getting back from Italy! Simon allowed us to set up the venue ourselves and no ask was too much, he was on hand the whole time- even carrying a brolly to help me walk down the aisle without looking soaked. Despite being a wedding venue, we felt like we were the only people to ever get married there. It is not a one in one out type of venue. The staff make you feel like the most special couple and ensure that you have the most special wedding day. Thank you to Simon, Alison and the Lancrigg team for creating the most special day for us, our family and our friends. We cannot wait to visit again one day.

The Lancrigg was the perfect wedding venue for us.
From start to finish the team were friendly, professional, and so helpful.
We first viewed the venue in October 2024 and loved the character of the property, the stunning views and location in the middle of the Grasmere fells.
We booked the venue for exclusive use which was perfect for our small wedding of 32 people.
On the weekend of the wedding the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The evening buffet on the Friday night, and the excellent cooked breakfasts on the Saturday and Sunday morning made things so easy for all of our guests.
On the day itself we were incredibly lucky with not a cloud in the sky. Again the staff were so helpful in setting up the outdoor ceremony area, helping us decide the final layout of the tables for the wedding breakfast.
Getting married under the beautiful tree overlooking the fells with our closest family and friends was such a special experience which we will treasure forever.
We were able to go for a walk with all of our guests to the new bridge, and then continue on up to Easedale waterfall. We love walking in the Lakes, and having all of this so close to the venue was amazing for us.
The Lancrigg team worked so well with all our suppliers, and having access to the whole house to celebrate and relax after the events of the day was so special.
On the Sunday we were able to take our guests up Helm Crag which was the perfect length of walk for the day after the wedding - what other wedding venue has a Wainwright next door to it!
Our wedding weekend at the Lancrigg was perfect and we wouldn't change a thing about it.
