Absolutely amazing wedding
We had the most amazing wedding at Formby Hall in September 2026.
The venue is beautiful and we just wish we could do it all again.
We were so impressed with the food and this was one of the things which really stood out to us and our guests.
We had a taster meal beforehand and we made a few tiny changes and nothing was too much trouble. The quality of the food is outstanding and all our guests spoke about how it was the best food they had tasted at a wedding. To us that was a really important part of the day as a lot of the cost goes towards the food.
The planning was stress free and everything was taken care of. We couldn’t have asked for a better day from start to finish. The sun was shining and we had our reception outside overlooking the beautiful golf course. We had expected much from the weather so that was a welcomed surprise.
I stayed at the hotel with a few bridesmaids the night before the wedding in large room where I also got ready the next day. Few little things I would say for feedback is the staff organising the breakfast on the morning of the wedding and the day after to our rooms need to be more organised, both times we needed to chase this up but was actioned afterwards.
We didn’t ask to see the wedding suite but I wish I would have as although our room on the night of our wedding was lovely , from looking at photos of the other rooms possibly suites , their are nicer rooms available which I am sure we could have used especially when your paying so much money.
We decided to book in for a couples massage the day after the wedding, this was amazing so I would recommend to anyone.
We choose to have our wedding in the ambassador suite and used ‘One events’ who I would also highly recommend. One events are A married couple who can dress your room, do your flowers and also Gaz the husband of the fantastic duo did our photographs.
We would also highly recommend impressions weddings a guy called Dom, he was our videographer and we were so happy with what he created for us. Both One events and Impressions do many weddings within Formby hall so are very experienced in the venue and also working together, which was fantastic and really made everyone comfortable on the day.
Our cake was by Claire’s cakes based in Southport again would highly recommend. It was beautiful and tasted great.
I would look at DJs maybe not recommended by Formby hall as we used one of their recommendations and he wasn’t the best . We also had a band playing in the evening which was fantastic.
Overall I would highly recommend Formby Hall for your wedding, it’s a beautiful venue and you won’t be disappointed. The planning was stress team , the team work hard and are great.

Absolutely unbelievable day
We had the most amazing day ever, I know it’s cliche to say this, but we genuinely had the time of our lives.
After there being a couple of changes in wedding planners, can honestly say Ciara was fantastic. From the moment we met her she went above and beyond, no ask was too much and the day would simply not have been that amazing if it wasn’t for her and Mike!
Would definitely recommend if you are considering this venue go and speak with Ciara! -

Me and my husband had our wedding day on the 17/04/2025 in formby hall and we could not have had the best day ever without Ciara she was the best wedding co ordinator and the whole day from start to finish was amazing ran so smoothly and we got the chance to celebrate and enjoy the day with our guests and she was just amazing and so caring and professional all the staff were fantastic would highly recommend formby hall for a wedding venue fro everyone who are getting married

Outstanding!
Amazing from start to finish thanks to the amazing team for making this happen the day was like clock work the communication between everyone in the team on the day was amazing. Our guested all commented on the food how unreal it was empty plates all round. It’s 100% value for money if anything it’s under priced! The food in the evening was phenomenal and plenty of it too. Service was brilliant highly recommend. -

Most Wonderful Day and Night
Amazing venue for our wedding ceremony and celebration, from our first email to Formby Hall to checking out 2 days after our wedding, each and every member of staff were fantastic. Our wedding coordinator on the day Tracey was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, her advice, guidance and professionalism on the day never went unnoticed, she was amazing. The staff in the bars and restaurant were always polite and friendly, and our Hog Roast is still being complimented on now. -

An amazing day we want to do again 🩷
We had our wedding at Formby Hall, and it truly was a perfect day that we wish we could relive. After a beautiful church ceremony, we arrived to delicious canapés and drinks that were the perfect start to our reception. Ken, the event manager, kept everything running smoothly and on time, and with the incredible weather, we were able to capture some stunning photos outside.
The meal was exceptional—our guests couldn’t stop raving about it especially the sticky toffee pudding. 🙌🏻
The room was dressed by One events and looked stunning. I wanted to cry when I walked in to see it.
Baz Todd, the DJ provided by the hotel, really turned the evening into a party, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
Amanda, our coordinator, was simply brilliant; she ensured every detail was spot-on. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and are so grateful to the Formby Hall team for making it all happen.Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa's reply:

A day to remember
We honestly can not thank the team at Formby hall enough.
Our wedding day was just perfect.
We had a couple of coordinators because our original lady had left which can not be helped so Amanda took over and instantly made us feel at ease. The planning detail was very good and we felt we didn’t need to worry about anything from the hotel.
We got married at Formby as a civil ceremony and the set up was beautiful.
The food was amazing and staff were very attentive.
Thank to Formby hall for making our dream wedding day come true.

Mixed feelings
I’d like to start by saying we did have a magical day, however we were led to believe that the canapés would be served upstairs and that we would have both bars but our guests were left in the foyer which was uncomfortable for many and they started to ask if we could take them upstairs away from the general public. I asked if it was possible to bring the timings of the buffet forward because some guests were also saying that they couldn’t wait until 8.30 for the buffet - which was accommodated -but there was tension in the air between the emcee & a member of staff that he was checking with as to times and infront of me he was snapped at by the member of staff. The emcee was certainly taken aback by this and he was very experienced in his expertise and professional. He kept the entertainment coming!
He was merely asking what time the food was coming & was getting ignored whilst he was entertaining our guests. I would have preferred if the hotel staff would have said it was too stressful to move the buffet to an earlier time rather than them becoming extremely and noticeably stressed. It made me feel really bad and I felt that the staff were smiling at me through gritted teeth.
The cake was not cut and shared out with guests either by the hotel and I didn’t realise that this would be the case. In the days after the wedding I had to drive around passing cake out to guests so that it wouldn’t be wasted. I hadn’t really felt up to this what with the events that happened in Southport soon after our wedding.
There were many things that I appreciated that some members of staff had gone above and beyond for us for - notably Michelle was wonderful on the run up to the wedding. She was patient and kind and professional.
In hindsight, I should have requested that the stairs outside be cordoned off so that small autistic children we had at the wedding didn’t get tempted to run out into the golf course.
I only found out a lot of things when it was “too late” because being a bride is busy and you do not stop. We were dragged off somewhere after two mouthfuls of food which was a shame because we really could have done with eating.
It was a magical day and a beautiful venue so I am focusing on that, but I would rather write an honest review. The staff did work very hard but things could have been better. Before I could enjoy the beautiful room we were placed in, I had to dust it down as there was thick dust and spider webs that had been overlooked. I’m not someone that would normally notice this but it was very obvious. I was shocked by this. Other than this it was a very beautiful room in a beautiful spot. -

A thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
To start with, Jen and Connie. Wow what a team. These girls are so accommodating, efficient and ever so caring. Jen even left mid planning to have a baby and come back early to keep in touch with her couples during this very worrying period of COVID. We were hearing nightmare stories about venues charging couples for their wedding and losing out on thousands, couples losing photographers, dates, DJ’s etc, but I can honestly say I didn’t feel any stress throughout the whole period. This is the skill Jen/Connie have. They kept the bride calm in adversity and amongst panic. I never worried Formby Hall doing anything, but honest actions and was informed every few months, what situation you were in, what options were open to us and always asked how we were. All correspondence was met with quick responses, there was always an out of office on if someone was absent, which may seem small but is huge, if you think you are being ignored or have received no response. You know who to contact, which again means a lot when you’re planning such a big personal life event. Jen was aware of our tight budget and at no point did we ever feel like we didn’t belong and should be paying alot more for our wedding. She accommodated our budget and even helped us with a special package and moved our date twice during COVID at no extra charge. Jen, you will never know how much your kind actions have meant to us and the chance you gave us for a beautiful wedding. Jen even ran around the hotel after it was all over to look for our personal champagne glasses, that were collected by the cleaning staff who thought they were the hotels. Again, they could of dismissed this as though oh its just to glasses and left them lost in the hotel, but Jen and the team made every effort to locate them and get them back to me.
What can I say? From the moment I arrived the evening before my wedding, we were given a beautiful room, helped with our bags etc and welcomed with a warm smile. We turned up 30 minutes early for our evening meal… and the effervescent John appeared (from what I believe is a magical little door he has when there is any issue… he pops up! 🤣). He ushered us to the bar area and made sure myself, my sister and my two daughters had drinks and were looked after whist we waited. He also helped me carry wedding bumf back to my room without hesitation and overwhelmed my sister in law, when he took her car keys off her, got his coat and went into the stormy, windy and very rainy car park to find her car, drive it to the reception canopy and helped her put her bags in the car. Above and beyond John, Above and beyond!
During the meal, nothing was too much to ask and we were looked after by the restaurant staff exceptionally well.
We retired early to our lovely room so we could relax and enjoy some peace (and cage my bickering children within 4 walls 😁) and even the little touch of reception calling us about 9:30pm to let me know my wedding favours had been delivered to put my mind at rest was so kind and considerate. Requests for jugs of milk for the children’s hot chocolates were met with “don’t worry, we will make you some hot chocolates for the children” which were brought to our door with a warm smile.
Our wedding day went by In a flash and any little issues you may of had, like my wedding cake being set up in the other wedding room was dealt with smoothly, efficiently and even had my photographer and sister flapping more than me. I was confident it would be sorted and it was. Anne was calm, caring and very attentive. She made every effort to communicate with us every step of the way on the day and even helped me straighten my train and had a dance with my father (she made his day), poor you Anne! 🤣🤣🤣 I genuinely did not have to worry about any aspect of the day and could just focus on having a wonderful time in a fabulous setting. Even the storm tried to dampen the night and caused some issues with our guests ordering drinks, but was resolved and everyone left happy.
We had decided to stay an extra night after our wedding and book an indulgent spa day. From walking down to breakfast, being greeted cheerfully by Tracy and the reception team wishing us many congratulations, to the delicious breakfast (which all of my guests complimented you on), the fabulous massages in the spa. We can honestly say everything was spot on.
I had enjoyed an evening in the restaurant before our wedding, enjoying the buffet style carvery, I had enjoyed out wedding breakfast, again a roast style dinner, which was highly commended by my guests again…
We are incredibly grateful for the incredible kindness and generosity you have all shown as individuals and as a business. Formby Hall has etched a place in our hearts due to the staff. Your staff are truly special and should all be extremely proud of yourselves and eachother. Anyone can run a hotel, but it’s the staff that made us feel welcome, at home and not wanting to leave!
I have tried to think of everything that touched us during our wedding stay and I’m ever so sorry if I have missed anything or anyone off. You all did an incredible job and I hope this reaches you all and your senior Management team. Hopefully you will receive a Christmas bonus as you give the hotel a huge bonus being the amazing assets you all are!
