Epic. Simply epic. We'd have given this venue and their staff 6 stars if we could.
I'm not big on leaving reviews, but needs must. 'On behalf of my wife and I...' we simply cannot say enough good things about Dundas Castle as our wedding venue, and just as importantly, the staff who made it all possible. From our initial visit, we were made to feel beyond welcome. We never felt pushed, persuaded, nor sold into anything - to be fair, the place sells itself.
The Castle/House/Pavilion (nb. you get all 3 for your wedding) are all very well looked after and there's a feeling of relaxed opulence throughout the place. It's all relative of course, but we didn't feel like we went too crazy with flowers and decor and the place still sang in every respect. We had guests form all four corners of the globe and they were all pretty gobsmacked as well. The grandeur, the space, the grounds, the feeling you get just walking around, it really is like a dream. They even have baby lamas!!!
During the planning phase of our wedding, we really started to appreciate how lucky we were with the staff. We planned our wedding from California but despite the tricky time difference, the Dundas Castle staff were an absolute joy to deal with. We were concerned that we did not have a separate wedding planner, but we really did not need one as the staff are all over everything. No stone left unturned, devilishly concerned about the details, everything was covered.
Onto the big day, or more like 'days'... We arrived with a ton of wedding 'stuff' which was all taken off us and whisked away to our room or pavilion and we were made to feel right at home. (For context, we treated ourselves to a mini-moon at Gleneagles afterwards and it's the same sort of service, ie. exceptional.) The rooms are all like something out of a Jane Austin novel, so our guests who were staying in the House were all over the moon. We hired an epic local company (King Axe Throwing) to put on a Highland Games with axe throwing, and all the usual fun which worked perfectly well in the grounds. We brought in 'Oink' to do a hog roast, which also worked perfectly. All of the above was handled with zero fuss by the Dundas staff and they are basically open to any good ideas you have.
Our wedding day was just one big floaty dream so it's hard to nail down specifics but I did appreciate was the new staff who we hadn't met yet and came in to support on the day. I referred to them as 'wedding ninjas' as they are dressed in black, very discreet, and only seem to appear when you needed them. Even the youngest of staff members were an absolute joy. They were all too happy to help with the smallest of requests, always super professional and always with a smile on their faces. I was really proud to see so many young folks with familiar accents absolutely thriving in their working environment.
In summary, we had the most blissful experience at Dundas Castle from start to finish, and we honestly can't fault the venue and staff at all. Hats off to them, and thank you for everything.Dundas Castle's reply:

Dundas Castle is nothing short of extraordinary. The castle itself is breathtaking, an exquisite setting steeped in history, surrounded by truly idyllic grounds that create an unforgettable atmosphere from the moment you arrive.
From the very beginning, the planning process was smooth and effortless. Kayleigh was an absolute pleasure to work, she was professional, attentive, and incredibly supportive throughout. Nothing ever felt complicated, and every detail was handled with care and efficiency.
The morning of the wedding was just as special as the rest of the day. Getting ready in the exceptional rooms within the castle brought such a sense of calm and excitement, it was the perfect environment to take everything in and enjoy those quiet, meaningful moments before the celebrations began.
The day itself exceeded all of our expectations. Everything ran seamlessly, and the team were consistently accommodating, helpful, and genuinely caring. It was clear that nothing was ever too much trouble, which made the entire experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.
A special mention must go to Ellis also, who was outstanding on the day. Calm, organised, and wonderful to work with, Ellis ensured everything flowed perfectly and that we could simply enjoy every moment.
The catering by Heritage Portfolio was exceptional, with every dish beautifully presented and delicious. In particular, Morvern was fantastic to work with, attentive, professional, and clearly passionate about delivering an incredible dining experience.
Even now, our guests are still talking about the day and how amazing everything was, from the setting to the atmosphere to the food.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue or team, Dundas Castle truly delivered everything and more and we had the wedding of our dreams.

We had our wedding at Dundas Castle and cannot recommend it highly enough. The entire experience was exceptional, thanks to the wonderful team, especially Ellice and Aileen.
Before the wedding, Aileen, the events manager, walked us through the whole itinerary. She made sure we felt completely comfortable with every detail.
On the day, Ellice was truly outstanding. She kept everything running seamlessly, anticipated what we needed, and appeared exactly when we needed her. From running up and down the Auld Keep steps trying to find my makeup top-up kit, to rescuing my veil from our photographer’s hat, to guiding us to every important moment she made the day feel effortless! I didn’t look at my phone once because I knew she had everything in hand. She coordinated our vendors beautifully and ensured all our guests were well looked after.
We stayed at Dundas for two days, which made the celebration feel so relaxed and special. The value for what we spent was excellent we had looked at several castle venues near Edinburgh and were able to enjoy two full days at Dundas for the cost of just one day at other venues we considered, without compromising on quality.
Another huge benefit was their incredible relationships with vendors. Many of our, including the falconry and whiskey tasting through Maximillion Events and performers from Deadly Acts Theatre, already knew the space well, which made everything run even more smoothly.
The castle itself is magical, and you can decorate it up just as you envision it, for us that was gothic and romantic and it was perfect. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, and our families felt completely at home. Our guests also loved the warm hospitality from the entire Dundas team everyone was so friendly and attentive. And of course, the friendly alpaca and the sweet castle doggos were such a charming bonus and a delight for our guests.

We had the best wedding day we possible could have at Dundas Castle in April 2025. From not long after we got engaged, we knew the venue was for us.
The venue itself is gorgeous, and we loved that our ceremony, drinks reception and evening reception could all be held in different parts of the castle/grounds, making the day flow really nicely for our guests. There is so much history surrounding the castle and it's the perfect fairytale wedding venue.
We just wanted to say the biggest thank you ever to you guys! We had the best day of our lives on Saturday and we absolutely couldn’t have done it without you.
Our day ran so smoothly, there were no hiccups and that's all thanks to incredible team led by Sinead who went above and beyond. It made the day so much more enjoyable for all of us knowing that everyone was taken care of.We always felt included but never bothered in the decision making on the day! I LOVED that!
All of our guests commented on how helpful the staff were and how it runs like a well-oiled machine. Offering a room for our friend who is breast feeding was such a lovely touch and much appreciated.
It was the little touches we loved like our room being cleaned before our private moment, our family photos and guest book being so neatly displayed and moved down to the pavilion, or our stationery being so neatly packed up for us leaving with absolutely nothing for us to do.
The accommodation is stunning and I felt like a proper princess that night. So thank you!
Jill was absolutely amazing in her responses to emails, organisation, keeping us updated and being a familiar friendly face. The whole team are just fantastic. We would highly recommend Dundas Castle as a venue to all of our friends - for us it cannot be matched! -

Most Perfect Wedding Day
We had the most perfect Wedding Day at Dundas Castle and are so grateful to all of the team for helping make our day so special.
From our very first contact with the team at Dundas all the way through to our special day, they were organised, efficient and welcoming. Dundas' detailed itinerary and comprehensive Approved Suppliers listed were incredibly useful and helped simplify the process of planning our special day.
On our Wedding Day itself the team were incredibly attentive which meant we did not have to worry about a single thing and allowed us to focus entirely on enjoying what was truly the perfect day. All of our guests were blown away by how stunning the venue was, the quality of the food and the service.
It is a day we will treasure forever and it would not have been possible without the amazing team at Dundas.Dundas Castle's reply:

We got married at Dundas in Aug'22 and it was a magical experience! From the moment we arrived at the venue, we knew it was truly a special location and we couldn't wait to get married there. The team at Dundas are true professionals, with incredible attention to detail who delivered a truly 5* experience from day 1. My husband and I wed here in July of 2022 and it was the experience of a lifetime. Our guests are still talking about it. Everything from the castle grounds to the beautiful bedrooms, to the incredible staff made the weekend unforgettable. Mahi and Morvern were GREAT people to work with and made the whole planning experience seamless. Highly highly recommend this venue if you are exploring others in the area - it is the best by FAR!
My only caveat - if you are getting married here, please be wary of the catering company 'Heritage Portfolio'. Their food is incredible, but their execution on the day of the wedding was a complete failure followed by their staff (not Dundas') being less than attentive to the situation. Not a reason not to book this venue, but make sure you speak to the manager Adam (something I did not do) and confirm timings and meals ahead of time.Dundas Castle's reply:

Dream Wedding Venue
My wife and I got married in Dundas Castle in June 2022. When we first went to visit Dundas, we fell in love with this stunning venue and knew we wanted our special day there. All of our guests commented on the exclusiveness of the venue and how it felt like being part of a fairytale. They were blown away by the beauty of the castle and its grounds.
What made this a truly memorable experience for us was the in-house wedding coordinators. Suzi and Katy took our vision and made it so special, taking the stress away from us. Suzi and the team were attentive, professional and welcoming from the day we got there. Our suppliers were blown away by the service provided. We can’t thank them enough!
I highly recommend Dundas as a venue, it truly was the best day of our lives, leaving us with the most amazing memories.Dundas Castle's reply:
