We booked this venue on the day we visited as we both fell instantly in love with it. We'd only looked at one other venue but knew we wouldn't find anything as idyllic as Danby Castle. Laura showed us round and was very friendly and professional.
Invitations were sent out to our guests with the food choices. based on the menu supplied to us. We were invited to a food tasting evening which we went along to around 3 months before our wedding.
On arrival at the food tasting evening it transpired that the menu had completely changed. This was quite a shock to us to learn and we had to then contact our guests to inform them of the changes. Danby have since added a disclaimer at the bottom of the menu. We would advise caution when sending out your food choices.
We met with our wedding coordinator around 2 months before our wedding who again was very professional and understood our wishes for our big day. Unfortunately between mid December and mid January, we failed to receive any communication directly from her, the other coordinators informing us each time we sent an e-mail that they would "pass it on to her" to be eventually informed (only because I rang) that she was on long term sick and then a short time later we were told we were assigned a different coordinator. Leading up to the wedding our new coordinator was very communicative, supportive and helpful.
On the morning of our wedding leading up to and including the ceremony everything ran smoothly, staff arranged the ceremony and wedding breakfast room as we wished and everything was precise.
Unfortunately the start of the ceremony was the last time we saw our coordinator for several hours (until the speeches). This made it difficult for several reasons - some guests were cold and we asked for radiators to be switched on but this didn't happen, no microphone was available for the speeches and no members of staff were to be found at this point to ask let alone our coordinator.
The food was outstanding and many people commented how much they enjoyed it. Unfortunately for whatever reason however, our meal overran by almost an hour with noticeably extremely long pauses between courses. This then had a knock on effect to our evening buffet when a lot of the food got wasted because people were not hungry.
We appreciate this comes across in a negative way and we wouldn't want to put people off. Danby Castle is an amazing venue and we've lots of good memories but we hope that staff can take what we have said on board to improve the experience for future couples. (They don't seem interested in responding to feedback nor did we get asked on the day if everything was fine and running how we wished).
Ideally we would have wanted to give a score of 3.5 as the day was definitely not average but it was however disappointing in parts as we feel a lot of the negatives could have been avoided. -

Growing up I always knew I wanted to get married over the Yorkshire moors as it was my happy place and Danby castle was my dream venue, our dream became a reality on the 9th of March 2025 (also mine and my partners anniversary date which made it so much more special)
Danby listened to every request I had and went above and beyond for us, our wedding coordinator Holly and Britney and all the other staff were incredible and made us feel so special throughout our day. It will always be the highlight of our lives. -

We had the best day surrounded by so much love. Lots of our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. They particularly loved all of our personal touches to make each and every guest feel a part of the day. The view of the moors just makes the venue even more special to us. The food was amazing! We wish we could do the day all over again! -

The place to get Hitched..
Where do we even begin? Our wedding day at Danby Castle Wedding Barns was nothing short of perfection. The venue itself is breathtaking, and every single detail was executed flawlessly.
Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how incredible everything was—the atmosphere, the stunning setting, and the seamless flow of the day. A huge thank you to Leah and Harry, who were absolute stars. From the morning preparations to the evening celebrations, they orchestrated everything with such care and precision that we didn’t have to worry about a single thing. Their attention to detail and calming presence made the day truly unforgettable.
The food was hearty and absolutely delicious. The pies were incredible, and the team serving throughout the night were exceptional. Every member of staff went above and beyond to ensure the experience was perfect for everyone.
A special thank you to Lauren, who helped us book the venue back in March, and the rest of the incredible team at Danby Castle. Your dedication, passion, and hard work shone through every step of the way, making our wedding day better than we could have ever imagined.
We cannot recommend Danby Castle Wedding Barns enough. If you’re looking for a venue that’s magical, professional, and utterly perfect, this is it.

The venue itself is amazing. The views are breath taking from every angle and in all seasons. Theres no accomadation on site but there are numerous pubs/air b&bs within 15min drive. The food was lovely. The nibbles did not seem to get round all the guests and the pimms didnt taste right which was a shame. Staff were very friendly and helpful and can accomadate most requests. Great for children in the family to play and explore. -

Staff were amazing from booking the venue, right till the wedding day. Couldn’t fault anything. Made us both feel so at ease and excited! Food was amazing too! -

Absolutely stunning venue with the most Incredible views of north yorkshire. The staff couldn't do enough to make our day run just as we wanted it to. I'm so glad we chose danby castle and would choose them 100 times over! We're so lucky!
