Sculpted over centuries by monks and monarchs, we are now carefully restoring four unique buildings within the grounds of the historic Ashridge House reimagined for modern weddings. Duke’s Yard will feature a landscaped courtyard leading to The Barn, The Coachhouse, The Stables and behind these we discover The Glasshouse.
Design Your Day
From a light-filled ceremony in the restored Glasshouse to drinks in the new Dukes Yard designed by Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, every space offers something truly memorable. Feast on your wedding breakfast in the re-envisioned Coachhouse. Dance the night away in our 14th century barn and then enjoy an afterhours nightcap in the Stables.

Your celebration includes a complimentary stay in a superior suite, a seamless dining experience with reception drinks, a three‑course wedding breakfast, wine and toast drinks, and the support of a dedicated, award‑winning Wedding Co‑ordinator. With décor essentials provided, from tables and oak chairs to linens, tableware and signage, plus complimentary gym and pool membership for three months ahead of your wedding, every detail is thoughtfully taken care of.

Built in the 14th century, and later extended by architect James Wyatt, Duke's Yard contains Ashridge’s most storied buildings. Carefully restored to preserve their charm while adding modern comforts, they offer a romantic, character-rich backdrop that blend centuries of heritage with thoughtful, contemporary updates.

Stylish, relaxed and unforgettable at Monks Barn
We planned a day of two halves. A heartfelt ceremony first, then a full celebration of our friends, family and our 14 years together. The Monks Barn team ran the logistics so smoothly that we could add layer after layer without stress. Our drag queen host, the brilliant Cherry Bomb, looked after everyone and kept the day flowing. A surprise Kylie tribute had the whole room dancing. There were sing-alongs, inflatables and so many smiles.
The photos are magic. We tried colourful smoke flares after a bit of research and a couple of tests. The team helped coordinate everything and kept outfits safe. The result is a set of images we will treasure.
Personal moments made it unforgettable. Three close friends spoke during our ceremony instead of readings, and we heard their words for the first time on the day. It was the perfect mix of love and humour. Add great food and impeccable service, and you have a venue that truly delivers.
Monks Barn gave us the best day of our lives. We would choose it again in a heartbeat.

The venue itself is simply stunning — the fernery is just beautiful and has everything you need if you're after a more relaxed, boho-style wedding. It’s such a magical setting that made the whole day feel unique and effortlessly special.
What really stood out was how well the Ashridge team catered for everything — including the weather! I never once felt worried about rain or unexpected changes, as they had it all covered with calm, seamless planning.
Their recommended suppliers list is amazing — not only did they completely align with our style and vision, but they also worked within our budget, which made such a difference. Every supplier we used was professional, talented, and truly cared about making our day incredible.
A massive thank you to Sophie, our wedding coordinator, who is INSANELY good at her job. From the very start, she made the entire process smooth and completely stress-free. She really listened to everything I wanted, gave brilliant advice throughout, and went above and beyond on the day. At one point, when my 2-year-old got a little upset, Sophie stepped in with her amazing motherly instinct and looked after him so my family could relax and enjoy the moment. That is 10/10 customer service!
Also, a big thank you to Jamie and Libby, who were so helpful and kind on the Friday night before the wedding. They made sure my family (and the kids!) were comfortable, well looked after, and brought such a calming, friendly energy to the weekend.
I genuinely cannot recommend Monk Barn enough — if I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. If you're considering it, book a face-to-face tour. You absolutely won’t regret it!
