Sculpted over centuries by monks and monarchs, Duke’s Yard is home to four unique buildings within the historic grounds of Ashridge House, thoughtfully restored and reimagined as a distinctive setting for modern weddings. Duke’s Yard features a landscaped courtyard leading to The Barn, The Coach House, The Stables and behind these, The Glasshouse.

Your celebration includes a complimentary stay in a superior suite, a seamless dining experience with reception drinks, your wedding breakfast, wine and toast drinks, and the support of a dedicated, award‑winning Wedding Co‑ordinator. With décor essentials provided, from tables and oak chairs to linens, tableware and signage, plus complimentary gym and pool membership for three months ahead of your wedding, every detail is thoughtfully taken care of.

Food sits at the heart of celebrations at Duke’s Yard, which is delighted to partner exclusively with luxury caterer Lettice Events for weddings. Known for beautifully crafted dining experiences, Lettice offers refined catering packages, with the flexibility to tailor every detail. Choose from a two or three-course plated menu, a fire feasting experience, and evening late‑night bites, with every element designed around flavour, ease, and unforgettable moments.
History
Built in the 14th century, and later extended by architect James Wyatt, Duke's Yard contains Ashridge’s most storied buildings. Steeped in 700 years of regal history, it offers a truly characterful setting for unforgettable weddings. From the original wooden beams of The Barn to the tranquillity of the gardens, every corner is rich with history, creating a timeless backdrop for beginning your own story.

Absolutely gorgeous venue
Beautiful Dukes Yard Wedding
One of the things we loved most about Dukes Yard was how beautiful and versatile the venue and grounds are. We were able to make use of the whole venue, from the Glass House and Souterrain to the Pleasure Gardens, The Quad, The Coach House, The Barn and The Stables.
What made it so special was that the day genuinely felt like a journey. Each space had its own atmosphere and character, and moving from one part of the venue to another made the day feel like it was constantly evolving. It created such a natural flow and gave us and our guests something different to experience throughout the celebrations.
The whole experience, from planning our wedding to the day itself, was made so much easier by the amazing team. A particular thank you has to go to Beth, our wedding coordinator, who was absolutely fantastic. She was so helpful, calm and organised throughout the planning process, and on the day she made sure everything ran seamlessly. Knowing we were in such capable hands meant we could relax, enjoy every moment and take everything in.
A huge thank you to everyone at Dukes Yard and Ashridge House for helping create the most incredible day for us. We will always look back on it with so much happiness and gratitude.

Stylish, relaxed and unforgettable at Monks Barn
We planned a day of two halves. A heartfelt ceremony first, then a full celebration of our friends, family and our 14 years together. The Monks Barn team ran the logistics so smoothly that we could add layer after layer without stress. Our drag queen host, the brilliant Cherry Bomb, looked after everyone and kept the day flowing. A surprise Kylie tribute had the whole room dancing. There were sing-alongs, inflatables and so many smiles.
The photos are magic. We tried colourful smoke flares after a bit of research and a couple of tests. The team helped coordinate everything and kept outfits safe. The result is a set of images we will treasure.
Personal moments made it unforgettable. Three close friends spoke during our ceremony instead of readings, and we heard their words for the first time on the day. It was the perfect mix of love and humour. Add great food and impeccable service, and you have a venue that truly delivers.
Monks Barn gave us the best day of our lives. We would choose it again in a heartbeat.

The venue itself is simply stunning — the fernery is just beautiful and has everything you need if you're after a more relaxed, boho-style wedding. It’s such a magical setting that made the whole day feel unique and effortlessly special.
What really stood out was how well the Ashridge team catered for everything — including the weather! I never once felt worried about rain or unexpected changes, as they had it all covered with calm, seamless planning.
Their recommended suppliers list is amazing — not only did they completely align with our style and vision, but they also worked within our budget, which made such a difference. Every supplier we used was professional, talented, and truly cared about making our day incredible.
A massive thank you to Sophie, our wedding coordinator, who is INSANELY good at her job. From the very start, she made the entire process smooth and completely stress-free. She really listened to everything I wanted, gave brilliant advice throughout, and went above and beyond on the day. At one point, when my 2-year-old got a little upset, Sophie stepped in with her amazing motherly instinct and looked after him so my family could relax and enjoy the moment. That is 10/10 customer service!
Also, a big thank you to Jamie and Libby, who were so helpful and kind on the Friday night before the wedding. They made sure my family (and the kids!) were comfortable, well looked after, and brought such a calming, friendly energy to the weekend.
I genuinely cannot recommend Monk Barn enough — if I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. If you're considering it, book a face-to-face tour. You absolutely won’t regret it!
