The Country Hotel has an array of fantastic suites available for you to host your wedding celebrations. Their largest space is The Mozart Suite, which can accommodate up to 180 guests. Their County Suite boasts stunning features such as high ceilings and stained-glass windows and can hold up to 100 ceremony guests or 80 people to dine and dance. The Strauss Suite is an ideal spot for intimate celebrations offering a cosy room furnished with a period fireplace and library, providing a romantic setting for a ceremony and wedding breakfast of 20 attendees.

    From start to finish the service was brilliant. Jamie Lee worked really hard to ensure that everything went smoothly. We had 160 guests from all over the country (and Australia, Thailand, France and Spain), 2 bands and a disco so that was quite a feat. We did have a couple of bumps along the way prior to the big day but Jamie Lee and her team ensured that these were efficiently ironed out and when things needed to be put right they were! We are returning on our anniversary for a complimentary meal and staying once again in the Bridal Suite. Highly recommended.

    Were excited to come stay again

    We had a magical time thank you. Everyone said the food was fantastic and the hotel was beautiful. We're excited to come stay again for our anniversary and would recommend the hotel to everyone.

    Perfect Day...Perfect Venue

    From start to finish - outstanding service. We only went to the wedding day for a look and ended up falling in love with it, the rooms for the ceremony and the reception day/night were absolutely beautiful and just what we were looking for. As soon as we booked we were introduced to Laura Laidler who was our co-ordinater - throughout the lead up months and panic stricken days, Laura was a tower of support and professionalism she really does deserve a medal for the job she does as nothing was a problem for her (even the last minute changes were greeted with laughter and smiles). The day before the wedding I took in the usual stuff, table decorations etc for the staff to set up – after the ceremony when we saw the room we were gobsmacked, they had totally exceeded my expectations and made an already beautiful room look truly divine. The toastmaster (Andrew) and his assistant (Lina) on the day also need praise as they too were on hand for any dilemma and assisted in making this day perfect. The food was incredible and as with other reviews about this venue our guests are still commenting on how wonderful everything on the day was and that the food was fantastic. We didn’t care that it rained all day when we got married because we knew this venue was perfect for indoor photos with the stain glassed windows, wood panel walls, the staircase (from heaven we called it) – our photos look absolutely fantastic. It’s a shame I am only allowed 300 words for this review because I could go on forever with praise for this venue. Our perfect day was not only made as such because we were getting married – it was made even more perfect by the staff, the food and the beautiful rooms at The Thistle Hotel and I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to anyone I know who is thinking about a celebration of any sort.

    Excellent Service

    We recently had our wedding at the Thistle Hotel in newcastle, the service we received was excellent and would recommend it to anyone who wants first class service and food. Everything was so perfect from start to finish, the hotel staff did everything that was asked of them and nothing was a problem. We also have a dedicated wedding planner from the hotel called Laura Laidler who was brilliant- Highly recommended.

    Fantastic Venue for a Civil Ceremony.

    After looking at various Hotels for us to hold our civil ceremony we found The Thistle to be the most obliging and warming in its service. The rooms were beautiful from the stain glass windows where the ceremony was held to the dark wood panelling in the Mozart Suite where the day & evening reception was held.The Hotel was perfect for location being in the centre of the city. Guests still rave about the food now 3 weeks on! The staff were really friendly and made you feel special, nothing was a bother. Thanks for a fantastic day especially to Alan & Sam.

    All you could want

    Excellent Food. Great Service.
    The Staff were brilliant all day and nothing was a problem for them. The venue rooms were very well presented and even the DJ was a star. On the dull side of things they even have a really good easy to follow pricing system that even i could understand! If you want an enjoyable day with no hassle i couldn't recommend the Thistle more. Thanks to Sam, Alan and the rest of the staff for a brilliant day to remember!

    Perfect Day Perfect Place

    Myself and my husband had our civil wedding at the Thistle and we had the most wonderful time. Staff we very attentive and everything was in place for the day. Guests complimented on the food both on the day and for weeks after. The rooms both the County where we had our civil wedding with its stain glass windows and the Mozart with the dark wood panelling were picturesque on our wedding photos. We used the Library suite for photos and again perfect for photos. I would recommend the venue to anyone who wants City Centre location yet splendid surroundings

    A lovely hotel in the middle of the city

    After looking round town for a suitable venue for our evening reception we were pleasantly surprised by the Thisle hotel.
    The room is lovely, all wood panelling, and very spacious, and the hotel is well prestented.
    On the day the staff did a great job of preparing the room, and everything went to plan.The buffet meal was very nice as well.
    In short a great location for guests and a lovely hotel for your wedding party.
