21 Feb, 2026Our Real Wedding
Scott and I met at a gig, 10 years ago (6th Feb 2016), where I was asked at the last minute if I wanted to go because someone couldn't go, and fate took over from there. He was playing in his originals band - The Heavy Jets, at the Maggie Bank in North Shields. We had talked a little in the smoking area, and it came to the end of the night, and my friends were arguing, so as Scott was trying to get my number and continue the conversation, I ended up walking away. But later that night, I couldn't shake the feeling I had missed out on something special, so I googled the Maggie Bank, found the name of the band he was in, and courageously messaged their band page on Facebook, hoping he would reply. Sure enough, he sent me a friend request, and the rest was history. We officially became boyfriend and girlfriend on 21st February 2016.
During our time together, we had plenty of ups and downs, we really struggled to get pregnant and endured a lot of heartbreak and loss, until we finally welcomed our little boy Ollie in 2022. After 5 years of trying and losses, he made us feel complete. Scott proposed to me in front of my whole family, at a surprise birthday party for my 30th. The surprises just kept on coming! He took me to my Mams where I thought we were picking her up to go for a meal, and I walked in the front door, and my whole family and friends were hiding! They had booked a fortune teller and decorated the whole house, and after my reading, my sister gathered everyone in the dining room so I could tell people what the fortune teller said, only for Scott to get down on 1 knee and ask me to be his wife. He had asked for my Mam for my hand in marriage and gone about it the traditional way, which meant a lot to her - what a gem!

We got married at the Courtyard in Gretna, 50 of our nearest and dearest made the journey to watch us say our vows, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. We had a surprise for them on the day, which turned out absolutely amazing, and Gretna were so great at coordinating and assisting us with whatever we needed.
We then travelled back in a Rolls-Royce, with Champagne & Greggs (true Geordie style) to have our evening reception at Backworth Hall. We were marched in to Scotland the Brave by our North Tyneside Pipe Band, and made our way up the grand staircase feeling like royalty. We then picked up our drumsticks and joined in with the band! We then had speeches, the first dance and then the live band started, where my new husband got up and played. Then it was disco time!
My favourite part of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing my partner and my son in their kilts, knowing I was about to become a McCall and the feeling of excitement to kiss him. It was the best day of my life! (apart from the day our son was born :D)
