The Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Green’s original marriage venue where the legend of the anvil wedding was born, offers a unique setting with 270 years of romantic history. Famous for hosting weddings since 1754, this ancient building stands virtually unchanged, where couples still marry over the traditional anvil. Legend has it that if you touch the famous Gretna Green Anvil, it will bring you good fortune in affairs of the heart.

Famous Blacksmiths Shop Forge Marriage Room

The Forge Marriage Room is a unique ceremony venue in the romantic heart of Gretna Green. Built within the walls of our historic Famous Blacksmiths Shop, it offers an immersive look into our Blacksmiths story, as well as space for up to 50 guests to join you on your special day. The Forge combines many of the historic features found in the Original Marriage Room with a unique, modern touch.
