My (now) wife and I are keen musicians, and often seek out live music wherever we go. We are well versed in appreciating those who can play their instruments well and give polished, professional performances. We also have a technical background in music and performance.
Needless to say, we wanted live music to play an integral part of our day, and spent much time researching available options. We first discovered Joel through Hitched, as we were originally contemplating a string quartet, but once we’d seen some of his trailers, there was only one option.
We’d booked a same year wedding, so were super lucky for Joel to still have availability, as no other option would have cut it after seeing this man’s incredible (and fairly unique) talent.
Joel’s set list was a perfect match for our vibe, covering everything from modern day pop and rock, through to epic film scores - we are Hans Zimmer fans and were amazed to hear him play some Zimmer! It is hard to describe the energy that Joel can inject into a room without experiencing it live, but it’s certainly enough to make your spine tingle. He unlocked a whole new level of emotion, especially in the chapel room where we had our ceremony.
Joel is a great communicator, and at no point did we have any doubt as to what to expect. Any questions that did arise were answered promptly and the whole process was super simple and smooth.
His setup is top-level; he’s self-sufficient and can move around the venue with relative ease - Joel played in three locations around our venue throughout the day. This brings me to his value for money - At less than half the cost of a string quartet or trio, and providing 20 minutes pre-ceremony, register signing, ceremony exit and 3x30 minute sets, you’ll be hard-pressed to find better value. He reads the room extremely well and picks songs to perfectly match the occasion/time of day.
Our guests all commented on what incredible talent Joel has, and how unique his approach is - proficient in bowing, finger picking, beat boxing and looping - mind blowing! You’d never believe the sound he produces is just one musician.
Put simply, we had the most perfect day and Joel gave us more than we could ever have dreamed of. In our opinion, we don’t know why you would book anybody else. Thank you Joel, you are amazing! -

From start to finish Joel Grainger has been so easy to work with! We knew we wanted Joel from the moment we knew we were getting married and it was honestly the best and easiest choice we made. We are so pleased we booked Joel for our wedding. Joel was quick to respond and the booking process was smooth. His beautiful music was the perfect soundtrack to our ceremony and drinks reception. He is very talented and so many of our guests commented on how good he was. He brought a calm & positive vibe to the morning. I would 100% recommend booking Joel for your wedding. From day 1 Joel was responsive and accomodating. We requested a song to be composed for my walk down the aisle, i already loved his music, but hearing the song for the first time as i started walking gave me goosebumps! All the guests commented on how good the music was, thank you for being part of our day! -

We just had Joel at our wedding at Danby Castle Barn and he was amazing. He was easy to book with good communication beforehand and prompt on the day,
He played while guests were arriving and entering for the ceremony and then moved out into the grounds, while we all had drinks and photos. The feedback from the guests was all positive, his skills and music choice really added a beautiful ambiance to the day.
I would highly recommend him to add something extra to your day.

Joel was one of the first vendors I booked to play at our wedding last Friday and I’m so glad I did!
He was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, he played all of the songs we requested perfectly and created such an amazing atmosphere throughout the day.
His live looping was incredibly impressive and added something really unique and special to the performance.
Joel is so talented and professional, and so many of our guests commented on how brilliant he was.
We were genuinely so happy with his performance and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding violinist.
