A series of disappointing events
Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service Benny provided. There were several issues that, collectively, left us feeling let down on what was supposed to be one of the most special days of our lives.
Firstly, our scheduled video meeting was cancelled and was replaced at the new appointment time with a last minute telephone call (rather than the rearranged video meeting), which we felt was unprofessional and disengaged. It also appeared that Benny was driving during the call, which gave the impression that our wedding wasn't being taken seriously and he was disorganised.
One of the most upsetting moments was being told just 10 minutes before our first dance that the song and the start point we had specifically requested "wouldn’t work musically." This last minute notification created unnecessary stress and left us feeling disappointed at a key emotional moment. We did email our request which didnt receive a response.
In addition, although our first dance was a country song, a song that was meaningful to us, the final song of the night ended up being a mashup of various tracks, many of which we didn’t know or connect with. This ties back to our earlier call, where Benny discouraged us from selecting specific songs and instead encouraged a generalised direction (we did note on our call that we don't like all country songs etc.). Benny also said he would adjust the style throughout the night to suit the crowd and keep people dancing. In reality, this didn’t happen. We were very aware that the dance floor was mostly empty and guests didn’t seem to enjoy the music, which was even more frustrating given that, from what we were told, song requests were not played.
We also found it extremely unprofessional that Benny didn’t know the timeline of the evening and wasn’t fully prepared; this was concerning, disappointing and relates back to our initial points of unprofessional, disinterested and unorganised. This left us with an abrupt and poor ending to the night, which we note is not 'professional experienced and polished entertainment from start to finish', which Benny noted within the contract page of our agreement.
What really crossed a line was Benny's use of profanity in front of our guests (Benny said 'sorry I fucked up and you can all call me a wanker'), and particularly when you referred to one of our friends as a “prick” at the end of the night in front of us and others. This was shocking and totally unacceptable behaviour.
When we discussed the day with our guests, the feedback we received was completely negative regarding Benny's performance. This only added to our disappointment, especially in light of your comment, 'There’s no better feeling than hearing your friends and family say your wedding was the best party they’ve ever been to.' (which was one reason why we initially booked him).
Unfortunately, that sentiment felt completely out of place given the experience we all had.
We would not recommend to anyone and we would insist you look into entertainment and music very early in your wedding planning. While we requested a meeting early on, we were told it wasnt needed until 2 weeks before the wedding, which of course leaves you no time if it isn't something you like.
